A Very Merry Time Cruise with real snow! – December 8th 2017 Bahamian from Galveston - completed

We didn’t win at trivia, I think we missed a couple. It was fun anyway, we always enjoy the trivia sessions. :yay: Tonight we were in Tiana’s for dinner with the Mardi Gras menu.

Thankfully Susana was feeling much better and her headache was gone for the most part. :flower: I was glad for her because I couldn’t imagine working in Tiana’s if you had a migraine…THAT would not be fun. :sad2: Here’s the brioche bread, always yummy and reminds me of the bread in Royal Palace.

Louis came around and tried to eat my head…haha.

Tonight’s feast consisted of Shrimp and Grits, Ahi Tuna Tartare and Iceberg Wedge.

Scott (or maybe it was me?) tried to get the pepper shot with Susana but it didn’t work out without his fancy camera. This was one of the soups, but I can’t tell which one from the photo. Doesn’t look like tomato but I thought the Seafood pepper pot came in a black serving dish…Anywhooo…..soup and pepper!

42959941095_b955efed04_c.jpg

We both got the seabass for our entrees.

43146483474_3ce0c18fe6_c.jpg

Sadly the light up dessert menu is a thing of the past and they are now just standard cardboard.

Time for the parade through the dining room. party: Lots of fun.

Dessert was the Doberge Gateau and the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. The cake is delicious and I’m not a huge fan of chocolate cake, but I do really like this one.

We managed to get a quick photo with Susana and Putra tonight.

42959938525_a335ed39ba_c.jpg

After dinner we decided to go and check out what was going on in Azure. We watched the game show Seriously!, which can be quite funny.

43146481944_78f60e0886_c.jpg

Scott Pepper was the act tonight and he was great. He had some great tricks and was funny as well.

We then switched seats (but I have no clue why now!) for 80’s Flashback which started at 11:15 pm. I think I’ve figured out that there are two 80’s Flashback games. One is put on earlier, at 10:15 pm or 10:30 pm and involves a lot of audience participation and the other is on later and is much faster and not the same at all. We prefer the first one if we are feeling lively enough to participate, but this evening it was the shorter version, which was just fine with us! ::yes::

It was about midnight when we made the short walk down to our cabin. Can this relaxing day get any MORE relaxing….why yes! Yes, it can. :rotfl:

43146481324_a5ed581ba2_c.jpg

So with the knowledge of another lazy day ahead of us we drifted off to sleep enjoying the rocking of the waves in our cozy little world. :cloud9::lovestruc:cloud9::lovestruc

Love back to back sea days!!!! I think you had a fabulous day.

Tiana's is hands down my fave now on the Wonder. Too bad about the light up menu though. Wonder why that was so short lived?

I think you guys did an excellent job with both your drawings, you are too modest! There's a reason we stick to trivia and never do an animation class on board :rotfl2:

Back to back sea days are so relaxing...my favorites! :D We will pretty much go with the flow on anything in Crown and Fin...good excuse to have an adult beverage. :thumbsup2

Day 7 – Thursday, December 14th – At Sea

29996756828_260cdf5638_c.jpg

We got up about 8:30 am this morning….early!!! :teeth: We pondered our breakfast choices while watching the waves from the port hole. In the end we nixed Cabanas and settled for some cereal and muffins from room service.

43866259871_3231ffbfbf_c.jpg

Today was our last day for doing nothing and we had nothing planned, so we were right on target. Unfortunately, we were right on schedule for Galveston too…booo! :headache:

28929880517_4c145e004e_c.jpg

We went and sat out up on deck 4 and watched the waves go by. It was so nice and peaceful up there, although it was really chilly today. The high was only going to be 66 degrees.

29996757598_69da7b9b16_c.jpg

Random tanker sighting that warranted a photograph.

43866261081_b0078cdd87_c.jpg

We didn’t stay up there long as it was a bit too chilly for us, but there was a cozy little port hole with our names on it in the Crown and Fin, so we popped down there at about 11:00 am. I guess we opted to miss the “Secrets to a flatter stomach” seminar that was going on in the Spa. :lmao: I can tell you right now what the secret is to a flatter stomach....lay on your back. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: You're welcome.

43866264601_fc16a8a60c_c.jpg

There was nothing going on in Crown and Fin at the moment so it was nice and quiet and we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

29996759488_b6ed11eb93_c.jpg

Susana had told us last night that they would be working in Triton’s today for lunch and so we had made some plans to go and catch up with her for a little while. We got there close to noon when it opened so that we could (hopefully) get some time with her to chat. It was very quiet, perfect for chatting!!

28929877857_0e16536f59_c.jpg

We don’t often go for lunch, so the menu was somewhat different to me. Always fun to look at "new" food items. :goodvibes

28929877197_ed12b39d01_c.jpg

Susana said that the fettuccini was something that was supposed to be good. She’s a vegetarian and hadn’t tried it, but she said other servers recommended it, so I decided to go with that. Scott got a burger. He had the better choice, the fettuccini was only so-so to me.

28929878687_d7e535ce0e_c.jpg

Somebody was brushing up on her Mickey ketchup skills…probably not a lot of call to make these in Palo.
:rotfl:

43866262551_44d619b708_c.jpg

The desserts were good!! I got the chocolate ring-a-ding sundae and Scott got the pina colada bread pudding. His dessert won out of the two, but they were both good.

29996761748_868213942c_c.jpg

We dallied around so long in Tritons talking that we almost missed the Diaper Dash! It started at 1:15 pm and we managed to find a small spot to squeeze into at 1:25 pm. As usual, it was a packed house. :crowded:

28929879727_120123681f_c.jpg

Some great baby racing took place – this really is such a fun event, it doesn’t get old to me, no matter how many times we watch it, there is always something funny that happens.

43866259301_3817833185_c.jpg

29996755318_a2035a5327_c.jpg

After it finished we made our way back down to our cabin…..and the second shoe of debarkation doom had been dropped.:sad::sad:

43866257571_69317d6638_c.jpg

The handy-dandy navigator app reminded me that Coco was on in Buena Vista theater and that I had tagged it as something we might want to do. :thumbsup2

29996753628_61aa6684a1_c.jpg

We figured it would be a good way to spend a chilly afternoon and so we went down a bit early at about 2:15 pm. The Christmas tree outside the theater is so pretty.

28929870367_532c333c0d_c.jpg

Not many people were there when we got there, but it did fill up quite a bit by the time the movie started.

29996752158_906df22dc1_c.jpg

Scott got his popcorn….happy man. popcorn::

43148744944_b2e9807e52_c.jpg

I have to say that I really enjoyed the movie, but boy was it SAD!!!! I hate it when movies put the really sad stuff at the end, and then you are desperately trying to get your face un-teary before the lights go up! Ugg….but it was a good movie. ::yes::

The movie got finished just in time for us to make it to Crown and Fin for 90’s music trivia. :car: We managed to find all the other adults who had been scarce around the ship today, they were all hiding out here!

29996751168_f9b2bbf05e_c.jpg

No victory for us today in trivia either, but it was fun. :goodvibes We decided to head up to watch the sun set. It wasn’t a great one tonight but here’s a photo anyway.

29996750648_13d47632c7_c.jpg

A quick cruise around deck 10 in the breeze, it was brisk up there, and just about empty of people!

43148744604_61ab8893ce_c.jpg

And some oil rig/platform lights for you because it wouldn’t be a Galveston trip report without them. These are blurry but you get the drift….lights…in the middle of the black ocean. :P

We got back to the cabin and got on with the yucky task of packing. :worried: We had finished and put our cases out before we went to dinner. Tonight we were in Triton’s and had the Captain’s Gala menu, which was kind of unusual to not have the Til We Meet Again menu, I’m assuming because we missed the Captain’s Gala menu last night being in Tiana’s but I don’t really know. :confused3

I got the Oysters Rockefeller and Scott got the Tiger Shrimp, Susana also brought me the vegetarian eggplant appetizer to try.

43148744414_27541911b9_c.jpg

Then white onion soup and the Vidalia salad.

43866253821_5b79a0109a_c.jpg

43148744124_4f61f07895_c.jpg

And then we both got lobster but Susana brought Scott the Pumpkin and Coconut curry as well. She did a good job of trying to get us to overeat!! :rotfl:

28929865637_5040fb3050_c.jpg

29996748198_389872773f_c.jpg

All rounded off with the crème brulee and the apple pie…..stuffed silly!! pooh:pooh:pooh:

We hung about and chatted with Susana and Putra for a while :hyper2: and managed to get a couple of photographs before it was time for them to get themselves packed up and get out of there, and for us to go to leave them alone! :teeth:

We had missed the Til We Meet Again show in the atrium with all our chattiness, and Scott Harrison was back on in Azure so we decided to nix any other activity tonight. All that was left to do was enjoy our last night of peaceful slumber before reality hit tomorrow morning. Aww….goodnight everyBUNNY….

Day 8 – Friday, December 15th – Kicking us off day

43896694442_6ce4fac9ef_c.jpg

Our lazy mornings were at an end. :sad2: At 7:00 am I pulled back the curtains to the dreary sight of the Port of Galveston. Sigh. Fittingly it was raining and gloomy which is just how I like it when I'm being kicked off the ship. :rotfl:

43896694062_a80f91b362_c.jpg

43945036311_30afb7baf3_c.jpg

We got the last of our things packed into our overnight bag and fought our way down to Triton’s amid the throngs trying to get off the ship. :crowded:

43896693172_c6b1774181_c.jpg

I don’t have pictures of what we ate, but it’s a safe bet that it was Eggs for The Road.

43945039291_ef00a6546e_c.jpg

43896696462_c0a234e47d_c.jpg

We took some last photographs with Susana…aww…our visit with her was over way too soon. :grouphug:

43945038351_99d0f0db40_c.jpg

The debarkation went really smoothly and we were walking off the ship by 9:00 am, and were through immigration and customs and onto the Lighthouse parking shuttle by 9:10 am.

43945038101_fdc1423026_c.jpg

One last quick peek of our ‘Wonder’ful ride for the week and another cruise is done and we are left with making our way back to the real world which consists of laundry :( grocery shopping   making your own food :headache::headache::headache: and your own bed!:sad::sad::sad: But...I don't want to!!!!

43945037261_8ce0746eef_c.jpg

Bye everyone! :wave2::wave2::wave2: And thanks for following along. My Mum told me this week that my trip reports always sound like we are having such a good time!:laughing::laughing: Because we are!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao: Until the next time. :flower3: :sunny: :flower3:

Another great cruise on the books :thumbsup2

I bawled like a baby at the end of Coco; while I felt it was a little bit long it was visually STUNNING and that in and of itself makes me want to watch it over again!

Rainy and gloomy....yep, apt for getting off the beautiful ship

We had a really good time on this one - totally relaxing and a completely stress-free week! Susana has gone to work on the Fantasy for a change of pace so I am not sure when we shall see her again, but it worked out perfectly that we could see her every day. I’m enjoying reading all about your Alaskan adventure, even if you are keeping me in suspense! Ha ha!!

We leave for a week in Cabo on the 18th so I'm completing my Alaska TR in the next day or two for sure :thumbsup2

Someone in my May 2018 cruise group just posted asking about Susanna and someone else responded that she would be moving to the Fantasy as well so I called DCL and requested her (who knows, but we shall see!) for our October Fantasy cruise. Sometimes it is good to stay in those groups after your cruise has ended after all lol

As usual, loved reading your report. I always enjoy reading along. The only thing that makes it better is when I’m along for the ride . So looking forward to the next one

We always have a good time - what's not to love about cruising! :lovestruc Thanks for reading along. We are going to try and be on the EBPC in February assuming Mum's health is OK, looks like you are signed up for it as well. :goodvibes

Yes my husband Michael and I are going..I can't wait! I am so excited to be on a 14 night cruise, and to see the Panama Canal it is on my bucket list. I hope you decide to go, it would be great to meet you. We are also taking a short cruise this October 22 on the Dream.

Don't know how I missed this trip report of yours - but really enjoyed it as always. Thanks for the tip about how to get a flat stomach!!

I kind of slipped this in out of sequence. :goodvibes Thank you for taking the time to read and respond. My flat stomach tip works well until you need to move! :lmao:

Great trip report! Thank you for sharing! My family of 5 are going on a Merrytime Cruise for Thanksgiving this November on the Wonder. I thought your TR would help alleviate the anticipation...NOPE!
