Booking Disney Trip over the Internet

I was just wondering if I could get some feedback on dealing with a travel agency , and booking our Disney trip over the computer. I have never done this......always went to local agent. I have a package that I like, with a quote, and before I go ahead with it, I thought I'd ask the experts.........Thanks for any help and/or advice !

My suggestion would be to price things out seperately and compare it to the package price. You might find that things are less expensive that way, plus you can apply discounts. Depending on when you plan to go, there are discounts available. Right now, the current discounts are for 8/24-10/2 but you'd have to book by July 8. You can book discounts by calling 407-934-7639 or using the 800 number ( i like to use that cause its free and the waits are always shorter) 800-828-0228

Happy Planning :bounce:

I have found that I price things on the websites (travelocity, expedia, disney) and then check out the discounts on this and other sites (mousesavers). Usually, it has been cheaper to call disney and use discount codes (from the websites and disney club) than to acutally book online. I would check it out on the websites, with disney and with a travel agent that specializes in disney travel and then pick the cheapest. I got a pretty good deal thru Disneys 800 number using the codes on a fall fantasy package in Sept. with the added disney club discount. Hope this helps.

Unlike airline tickets and hotels, I would recommend NOT buying Disney vacation packages over the Internet.

If you want to buy a complete package, do it through a Disney Specialist travel agent. Mousesavers.com/travelagent.html

The problem with buying a complete package is that you generally give up the chance to save money on individual components (room, tickets, etc.) when discounts become available. A good travel agent can help with this because discounted packages may also become availabe and the agent may be able to switch you over to a discounted package.

Regardless of how you buy, be sure to ask about cancellation policies. I would recommend not buying anything that didn't allow you to cancel to about 30 days in advance.

I think it COMPLETELY depends on the deal you're getting. For 5 nights at the Courtyard Marriott at Downtown Disney, roundtrip airfare from Buffalo, 4 day hopper passes, and transfers, I paid $492 in January. Assuming my airfare was about $180 (That's about what I'm paying on Southwest....Delta may have even been more for just the airfare, but I'm not sure because it was a package) my hotel room came out to about $55/night including taxes based on an occupancy of 3, and I don't believe I could have found ANYTHING cheaper than that. I booked it through onlinevacationmall.com. I would HIGHLY reccomend them. Take a look at their hotel only rates. I got POR for $84.50/night INCLUDING taxes, which is cheaper than with the discount code Disney has right now. I believe it's $89/night BEFORE taxes.

So I say, do your research, and if your package deal is a deal, book it as a package!

Thanks to all of you for responding..........putting together a lot of your advice, ( the agency is one recommended by MouseSavers).......and I did do a lot of homework on pricing....I think I got a really good deal..so, hopefully I can get it all taken care of this week ! Thanks again !

Do you think you might be less likely to get room request granted if you book through someone other that Disney?

I don't think I'm any less likely to get a room request granted even though I booked outside of Disney. I have to imagine that there are so many people who book through a travel agent instead of through Disney. Not to mention that I'm going at a low-attendance time.

Also, I'm really not particularly worried about whether or not my room request will be granted. I'm going to make a request, but I'm really not planning on spending too much time at the hotel, so if I get my request, great! If I don't, that's okay too.

I'm happy anywhere at those rates! :D

Since I am a REAL travel agent, I say use the reccommended
you have started with. If you use a travel agent who specializes
in Disney it frees up your time and takes alot of pressure off you.

Why not give the travel agent associated with this great Disney site a chance to quote your travel?
