Circumpolar Race Around the World (CRAW)

Week 7 Update
It was a big week for us... congratulations to all for completing Region 1!! :cheer2: During the week, we accomplished the following:
  • Completed our run through Panama (Friday)
  • Completed Region 1 and earned our first medal (Friday) - although I have no idea when they will actually be sending the medals
  • Started Region 2 in Columbia (Friday)
  • @Dopey 2020 completed his virtual NYC Marathon (Saturday)
I will put together a full recap of Region 1 soon, but for the basics, we completed Region 1 (2,512 miles) in 45.5 days with an average of 55.2 miles per day.

For Region 2, it is 3,094 miles long (23% longer than Region 1), and there are only three countries: Columbia (806 mi), Ecuador (586 mi), and Peru (1,702 mi, a.k.a. forever). Although these countries will all take a good amount of time to complete, the good news is that Google Street View seems to work, so we won't be running blind anymore.

As of last night, we were already 164 miles into Columbia and will likely cross the halfway point in Columbia on Friday or Saturday. We have a CRAW total of 2,676 miles completed, and the prediction model is showing that we should finish Region 2 on about 12/11 (ignore the best fit line in the graph below as it needs a few more days of data points to become accurate). For the entire CRAW, the prediction model is a week or so under the 1 year 6 month mark based on our average daily team mileage (55.7 miles per day).

If you have mileage to post from last week (through yesterday), please try to post before the end of today such that you get full credit.

This is fantastic! Thanks so much for putting it together!

Week 8 Update
This was our first full week in Region 2, and all of it in Columbia. During the week, we accomplished the following (interestingly enough, all related to Saturday):
  • Passed the halfway point in Columbia (Saturday)
  • @camaker completed his virtual NYC Marathon (Saturday)
  • @RunDopey set the biggest individual single-day mileage record at 33.02 miles (Saturday)
  • For the first time since starting CRAW, we had more weekend mileage on Saturday rather than Sunday
As of end of day yesterday, we were 519 miles into Columbia and will likely complete Columbia and enter Ecuador this coming Saturday. We have a CRAW total of 3,031 miles completed (which I might add is just over 10% of the entire CRAW), and the prediction models are showing that we should finish Region 2 between 12/12 and 12/14. For the entire CRAW, the prediction model is right at 1 year 6 months based on our average daily team mileage (55.1 miles per day).

If you have mileage to post from last week (through yesterday), please try to post before the end of today such that we get full credit.

We are getting close to completing our run through Columbia with only about 110 miles to go. Based on our average Friday and Saturday mileage, it will be tight if we finish by end of day Saturday, but we will either finish late Saturday or early Sunday. If anybody hasn't posted mileage for the week so far, it would be good to post now such that it increases our likelihood of completing Columbia tomorrow.
