Day to go to Diamond Head/ Waikiki

Are there any days that are better to go to diamond Head /Waikiki? Weekend vs. Weekday? Well be driving from Ko'Olina.

Because it can get extremely hot, most people recommend going early morning to beat the heat.The main issue with that is you are going to run into peak traffic if you go early morning. Huge amounts of traffic are travelling from the western side into Honolulu for work, school etc.

The car park at Diamond Head opens at 6am and quickly fills up. There is parking available outside the park but it adds another 15mins or so of walking.

Are you only staying in Aulani? Ie not doing any stay in Waikiki - some sites are just easier to negotiate from there, Diamond Head being one.

We went on a Saturday last June at opening, and it was crazy busy. We had to wait forever to find a parking space within walking distance.

As PP mentions, you'll want to leave quite early both to combat traffic and to find parking. I would leave Ko Olina around 4:30 or so in order to be ahead of the traffic and make the commute, and allowing you to get there when the lot opens.
