I'm not sure if this is the right board to ask this on but I'll give it a shot......We are returning to Disney in October this year and have family joining us towards the end of the trip. The kids want to spend a day or 2 at Universal but I refuse to leave the Polynesian Resort so my question is... how hard would it be for us to get transportation back and forth to Universal and does anyone know the cost of this day trip?

Thanks folks!!

You could rent a car from national Car on property. We had a mid-sized Chevy in January. It ran about $60 for a 24 hour day.

Mears also has shuttle service to Universal from the resorts. tiffany Towncars also will provide the service. Check them out

Mears will take you for about $12 per person (round trip). Just be sure to give them about 24 hours notice. Don't wait until the morning you want to go and then call them.

How about a taxi? It has to be cheaper than $60 for that. Heck when are you going I'll give you ride there if I am there. I rented a car for 5 days for $126 with all the taxes. I'd at least give it a look. Doallar has a good code for florida visitors. If you want it I'll give it to you.

I know that some people don't like to hotel hop or have a car on vacation but we love having a car.

Our last 2 out of 3 trips to WDW, we went to Universal for the first 2 days and stayed onsite at very good Entertainment rates ($117 last year for the Hard Rock Hotel and $99 this year for their new resort, Royal Pacific) and got the wonderful bonus of "Front of the Line" feature just for being an onsite guest. You get to go in their version of the Fastpass without getting a pass for it over and over. You can do a park in half a day!!! It's wonderful.

Anyway, we've rented a car the last 2 times because of going to Universal and it ends up being the cheapest and most convenient way to go. Last year, our rental was with National and it was 10 days, Full size Total: $179.

But I know many people don't like to leave WDW or have a car, but having done both, we prefer having the freedom a car brings.

That being said, I think a taxi would be the most economical for you. Or Mears has a special with Universal of $12 per person round trip. That can add up, though if there are a lot of you.

Thanks for asking this question! I was wondering the very same thing.
We're planning this for our next trip and I was going to ask this question.
My DH isn't interested in renting a car so I was wondering what the details
are. Has anyone done this? Used either Mears or TTowncar. My other
question is: How late can you get back? Do you have to go back at a certain
time?Thanks:)
