We got back on Saturday and here are some brief reviews for the meals we had:
Pepper Market - ate there twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast. For dinner I had the Bourbon Chicken - I thought it tasted funny and was cold - of course it was during a blackout and the power had been out for about an hour. For breakfast had the breakfast burritos- I thought they were kind of tasteless. The prices were also not much cheaper than a regular table service restaurant. Our dinner came to almost $28 for 3 (2 adults and a 9 year old) of us without dessert and only soft drinks to drink - and after I left, I realized that they forgot to charge us for DH's stir-fry beef - if they had charged us, the bill would have been over $40 for 2 adult entrees, a child entree and 3 sodas. C-
Cape May Cafe - nice buffet in a beautiful resort. However, I am not a huge fish or seafood fan so I probably didn't appreciate it as much as someone who does. The prime rib, however, was excellent and the dessert bar was excellent. I would definitely eat here again if I was in this or a near-by resort but would probably not go out of my way to eat here in the future. Solid B
50's Prime Time - Loved it! Had an excellent barbeque chicken sandwich and was able to substitute onion rings for fries. The waitress was excellent and definitely into her role. A+
Brown Derby - Excellent food and beautiful presentation. I don't remember what my appetizer was but my main course was a steak that was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten - it melted in my mouth. I also had the apple tart with black pepper ice cream - excellent! A+
Whispering Canyon Cafe - a lot of fun. Great waiter. I had the Little Nutty Chicken Salad and it was very good. DS (9 yo and 65 lbs) had the bottomless milkshake, chicken fingers, a side of chili and worms in dirt for dessert - waiter nicknamed him "Little Hoover". A
O'Hana's - Very nice experience although we felt like such wimps because we could not eat anymore after the first round with the meats. Guess we filled up too much on the appetizers. Dessert was out of the question although we all had a piece of pineapple with caramel sauce. The wontons were great and I could have made a meal out of the chicken wings alone (actually I practically did). The dipping sauces were all excellent. Will most likely come back here next visit. A
Rainforest Cafe - good food, nice atmosphere, slow service. I had an Asian Chicken Salad - good but not outstanding. Will be back here again simply because it is on DS's must do list because he loves the atmosphere. C+
Boma - my favorite restaurant at WDW. We have eaten here many times for breakfast but this is the first for dinner. Excellent selection and variety. Also, we were thrilled to be able to get the frunch at dinner time too. A+
Tangerine Cafe - I had the chicken wrap but this was more of a chicken salad wrap - I really didn't see what was Moroccan about this dish. Baklava was excellent, though. The food was decent but the service was awful. They only gave me half my order and as I was waiting for the other half, the girl at counter asks me "What do you want now?" I explained that one of my entrees was still missing as was one of the drinks - she went on to fill someone else's order before she finished with mine and then lost my order. C-
Contemporary Resort Food Court - Good but somewhat limited in selection. Also, pretty good value for WDW. One night I got the Cobb Salad - it was very good, huge, and more than I could eat in one sitting - for $6.49 - not bad. B+
Yakitori House - Pretty good Japanese fast food. I had the chicken teriyaki and the tempura shrimp. B
Chef Mickey's - a must do for every visit. Very good food and great character interaction. A
Cosmic Ray's - Good counter service - I had a cheese burger. B+
Backlot Express - excellent counter service - I have a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich that was one a whole grain bun - probably the best counter service I had at WDW - A-
San Angel Inn - decent Mexican food. Not great but not bad, either. DH, however, had the ceviche which he said was excellent. B
Counter Service at Norway - don't remember the name. We had the rice cream - very good. B
Also, last but not least - Aloha Isles - after reading about the Dole Whips, I had to have one. Those of you who rave about the Dole Whips did not lie. They are excellent! B+
Let me know if you have questions!!
