This is our first trip to disney--I have been reading this board for a couple of days and I am very impressed with the knowledge you have of Disney. We are traveling with our two daughters age 8 and 2. We have decided to stay at the dxl.
Good choice??? WE are going last week in June-early July. Have a couple of questions-first with the card rental discount codes do they ask you for any coupons or anything when you get there? Would it be a good idea to check into getting these club cards everyone talks about? If so how do I know if it will give me a discount on the time I am going and how do I obtain/purchase them? Would love any and all feedback on anything at disney--suggestions on traveling with a two year old--thanks for all the great messages-look forward to hearing from all of you--Wendy

Make sure to bring a cup for the 2 yr old..The parks will be HOT and busy at that time. Small snacks to carry, and take breaks as often as you can. If you will be using Disney Buses to get to and from the parks, you should know that the waits in the evening can be very long. As for the club cards, thats not in my field...I never used them. Did you make your ressies yet? If not, do it as soon as possible. The hotels on property fill quickly. AND.. I hope you stop in at Epcot and say Hello..I am at MouseGear, ask for Lisa!

Thanks Lisa- We are renting a car so if I choose not to take the bus I can do that. No-have not made a reservation yet but will do right away. Since it is our first trip we are doing four day pass don't want to try to push to much. Thanks again I will see you in late June-Wendy :)

Hi!

DxL si very nice, make sure you ride the boat down to Downtown Disney, and their swimming area is very nice. We also stayed at Car. Beach, and learning your way around Dxl is a bit easier!

Barb

Learned so much thru the boards!!Thanks to all!

Caribbean Beach 8/2000
Disney Cruise 8/2000
Dixie Landings 8/2000

Dixie Landings is great. We stayed there several years ago and found it very peaceful.

Tips for a 2-y-o: Don't push too hard. Since this is your first trip, you should be okay. We took our 20-m-o and tried to do too much. She was so overwhelmed, she hardly smiled all week. She loved the monorail, any fountain or squirting water. Keep these simple things in mind for the kids. WDW is a lot to process mentally for adults - can you imagine how children feel!?!?

Make sure you have your days planned out as to what you will be going to and on what days. Plan for mid-day breaks. Definitely have water on hand for the kids.

One of our favorite times at WDW is always at the water parks. Kids love it!

Good luck! Have fun!

Have fun planning!
You picked a great resort :)

1)Research and learn all you can.
2)Have extra clothes or a swim suit with you for water fountains.
3)Magic Kingdom is best for the younger ones they won, be as impressed with Epcot as you will.
4)Wear comfy shoes.
5)It will be VERY hot at that time get a spay bottle with the battery operated fan.
6)Yes,yes, yes get a Disney club card.
7)take lots of film.
8)As soon as you arrive go to the gift shop and buy autograph books for the kids so the characters can sign them.
9)If you are only doing Disney you can save money and not rent a car, the buses will take you every where. Although, sometimes there is a wait.
10)Most of all have FUN!!!!!!!!!
Don't be shocked you won't get half of it in on four days but it will be fun to go home and start planning your next trip. Great Name! :)

Thanks for all your help-I have been trying to take in everything a little at a time. Very overwhelmed with all there is to do. Don't want to spend any more than four days there don't want to tax my little ones brain to much. Please keep any suggestions you may have coming. Wendy

Enjoy your first trip. My daughter and I made our first trip in November (DH has been several times but he also went) and it was absolutely the best vacation of my life!! The weather was perfect, the parks beautiful...it was just the best! Before I went I would read these boards and wonder how you guys can go to WDW every year (sometimes more than once) but now I KNOW. I am 'brain planning' my next trip already.

DH bought me the light up EPCOT snowglobe for XMAS and every time I look at it, I get that Disney feeling. Ready to go again.

It was just awesome. Enjoy! You will learn tons from these boards that will make your trip great.

Wendy Too!

The above are great tips for the two year old. Don't forget to plan some down-time for the afternoon, perhaps going back to your hotel for naps and to swim in the pools. also your 8 year old may enjoy attending the Alice in Wonderland Tea Party at the Grand Floridian. IF you go to the home page for this website, you'll find details on the left -hand column. Just keep scrolling down and you'll find it. Hope you have a great trip.
