I gave up collecting pins about 3 years ago. Last year I retired and was looking for a new Disney interest. I found Disney Lionel trains which were made since the 30's. Last year was the last for Disney Lionel trains. My goal was to find as many as I can for my new collecting habit
Here are some that I have added to my collection. A few are rare and one was a proto type one of a kind. Anyone else have an interest in Disney O gauge trains?

Wow!! What cool trains! I had no idea there were so many cool train cars that were Disney! Almost makes me want to start a new collection, but.....I think that might get me into trouble....

Great to see a post from you here Mickey2000! It has been a while. Hope all has been going well for you! Those are quite a nice new collection!

There was a Lionel Disney train display up back in May in Epcot. I saw a few really cool cars and accessories (I don't think all of them were Lionel.) This is definitely not something I needed to see. I just recently started getting some Lionel and other train parts (no where to display it though) and also got the Polar Express set back at Christmas.
My DH is going to HATE that I saw this (I must not start a new collection, I must not start a new collection, I must not start a new collection)

That is a really sweet collection - good thing I don't have any room in my house for one.

Those are really cool trains. I have never heard about these trains before so thats cool that now I know what they are and I got to see a lot of them. Considering the amount you have right now and you just started, you are going to have a lot in a few years.

Nice to see you posting Al.

So........now that you've retired and found this new hobby, will there be an addition on the house coming soon??? :smooth:

Nice collection, Mickey2000! :thumbsup2

Thanks really like your collection .

We have a small train shop down the street I'll stop in one day and send you a pic of anything they have that you don't.

Bringing this thread back from the dead...

I was curious as to why the OP stated that last year was the final year for Disney trains. I just purchased the Lionel 2006 Disney Christmas set and a 2006 Christmas boxcar is available too.

My DH was very interested in the trains that were setup during the F&G in May but they were not there when we went back in October. DH was very disappointed because he thought he was going to get a set. So, I'm curious where were you were able to purchase the Disney trains? On-line? Would appreciate any information you have - might be a Xmas present for DH??? :confused3 :confused3

The set and boxcar I got were on Disneyshopping.com. The sets were a limited edition of 1000, and they sold out very quickly... within a few days. They are starting to show up on eBay now. Here's one: Disney Lionel Christmas 2006 Set

The boxcars are still available at disneyshopping.com: Lionel 2006 Limited-Edition Holiday Boxcar

These two items were made for the Disney catalog. They will be listed as uncataloged in Greenbergs guide to Lionel trains.
As for Lionel making any Disney trains on thier own, it won't happen.
Disney has raised the price for a license on thier products very high which caused Lionel to stop making Disney items :confused3
