Thank you! Thank you! If you enjoyed this ride my name is Chunkymonkey, and if you didn't my name is @pkondz.
Sure! I'm the skipper! I name you as captain, because if the ship sinks you have to go down with it.

Day 2: Sunday November 10

We had a good rest the night before and we were ready to get the day rolling! We slept in a little and then walked over to the TTC to head on the monorail to Epcot.

I wanted a bite to eat, and knowing we'd have a huge meal later at Monsieur Paul, we decided to share something healthy at Sunshine Seasons.

Broccoli and Egg-White Soufflé with Multigrain Croissant and Fruit

I am actually a fan of multigrain breads and pastries, I like stuff with texture and so I really enjoyed the croissant and all the various grains in it. The egg white souffle was actually pretty good, it's like an omelette but in bundt cake form, LOL. I'd get this gain if I didn't want to eat a huge meal for breakfast.

Our first FP+ was for Figment so we went to ride that.

And then we took at trip to the DVC lounge as we were exiting the dump shop. We had a bit of time before our next FP+ so we spent some time just lounging.

We fueled with some k-cup coffees and got some snacks.

Our next FP was for LWTL, Steve's favorite ride, LOL.

I love how they have different displays during each season and how it corresponds to each festival.
Obviously this is Fall :)

After LWTL we made our way over to Monsieur Paul and checked in for the French Family Meal Traditions, an exclusive event for the Food & Wine Festival. We did this in 2017 as well and LOVED it. In fact, we saw a couple whom we sat with last time doing the same meal on the same weekend two years before. You can read about that meal here. We waved and said hi and we totally remembered each other!!

You are seated in tables of 6-8. If your party is less than that, you're seated with other guests, but that's why it's called the French FAMILY Meal, because you arrive as strangers and leave as friends! For both times we've been there we've sat with 2 other couples, and they were all so nice and friendly! Maybe we were lucky but almost everyone we've met at Disney events have been wonderful because we share that common bond of...Disney...and FOOD!

The menu usually changes each weekend they have the meal so if you stay for longer than a week you can potentially have a completely different meal! I would totally be down for that, LOL! You don't know what they are serving until you get there. I'm sure they can accommodate for allergies, although by how much, I am not sure.

This was our menu for today, which was completely different from what we had 2 years ago.

It sounds amazing already!

Oh and the wine is literally free-flowing. We had an aperitif, which was this rose champagne

That gentleman sitting next to Steve was a riot. He had the driest sense of humor and kept us laughing the whole time.

Our amuse-bouche was this lovely puff pastry that had goat cheese and tomato. It was delicious and a perfect little teaser!

I had barely drunk my champagne (I'm actually not a rose fan) and they had already poured the first white wine, a Macon Uchizy, I don't know what that means but it was a white wine. I'm sorry I'm not more descriptive than that with wine (I just drink it) but it paired really well with our first course:

This was an egg en "cocotte" which is a nice way of saying baked or poached eggs. It was served with an amazing truffle cream and a delicate crouton, almost like a crisp brioche. It was perfect, rich, but not overwhelming, a great start.

Oh look they have started pouring more wine. This one is a Tavel. Which was like a very light red wine, and I just found out is a rose blend. I actually liked this one, it had more flavor than a rose.

It paired very well with our main course, which was salmon, served with spinach "cream" and potatoes gratin. It was a great entree. I normally don't like cooked salmon, I much prefer raw salmon like in sushi, but this one was so delicately cooked it was just approaching raw. I don't know how they did this, it must have been a sous vide or some sort as it was the same done-ness throughout. I'd eat cooked salmon all the time if it were like this!

Having polished off our plates and somehow I never seemed to have polished off our drinks. Our server literally would fill up our glasses when we're not looking! I had to tell them to stop because I can't drink that much!

This was our cheese course which was served with a deeper red. This was a Montboissie which was a firm cows milk cheese with a bit of ash pressed in. It was so good! I have never met a cheese I didn't like. The wine was like a burgundy and shown here:

You can see I still have all my other wines, they basically don't let you finish your wine, LOL.
It's like the bottomless brunch.

And finally our dessert, this amazing Tarte Tatin, which is an apple tarte. It was nice and light but still retained that richness with the pastry.

I don't know how I got to dessert with all my wine glasses still full but oh well, LOL.
We finished everything on our plates and we were stuffed!

At the end of the meal the entire kitchen team came out to cheers and claps and shouts of "Encore!!" They totally deserved it!

As you can see, the French Family Meal has amazing food and wine. It was all paired beautifully with French wines but yet the meal is all very approachable, even if you've not had much experience with French food or wine. Throughout lunch our tablemates and us enjoyed some really fun lively conversation. We all LOVED Disney and we spent hours talking about our experiences. We really wanted to do it again this year (or another year since this year may be a bust). We exchanged email addresses and hoped to repeat this again on another date in the future.

I emailed our table mates this picture. So fun!

Oh and the service is amazing, everyone there is super friendly and genuinely seem to love working there.

This is Jean Luc, the Maitre-D (I believe he is the Maitre D), and he kept us entertained throughout the meal. When we were leaving he saw that someone was carrying a large camera and he asked f they would like to take HIS picture, LOL. Of course they obliged and I snuck in like papparazzi! 😆

We walked all over Epcot, which is my favorite thing to do. We ducked in and out of the pavilions and I spent a long time inside the Future of Epcot installation at the Odyssey. I thought it was so cool!!

When it hit 6pm it was time for our 2nd Food and Wine event of the day, the Tailgate Tasting! It was a new to us event and it showcases cuisines from the cities that are playing against each other on Monday Night Football. That evening we happened to be there for the Seahawks (Seattle) vs the 49ers (San Francisco).

We checked in at the same event space as we had the cheese tasting the day before. We sat towards the back (again), LOL. On each seat there was an apron for each person to take home and it alternated per seat, so a couple would get one of each. If you were solo I wonder if you would get your choice in case you didn't like your team apron, haha.

This time we had a trio of beverages with the first being a chardonnay, the second, a beer, and the third a red blend. Each was paired with a food item inspired by the cities of the teams. We were also given a little leaflet with the recipes on it.

So there was a chef preparing each dish live on stage. He was very nervous and I think it was his first time on stage because he kept screwing up everything, LOL. His rice was so watery it wouldn't stick together, and the same for his seafood paste for the slider. It was funny though and he acknowledged he wasn't sure what he was doing, haha. Soon servers came by with this platter, all the food is served at once which makes it easier.

On the front you have the Seattle Seafood Slider, and on the back left you had an Asian inspired sandwich with pressed Rice-a-roni shaped into a bun, and on the top right you have dessert, which was a Raspberry goat cheese crumb cake.

It's funny as I thought I'd like the rice-a-roni thing the best as I like rice and Asian flavors but it wasn't my favorite, it was good, but I ended up liking the thing that I thought I wouldn't, the cake! It was really good! I normally don't gravitate towards the sweets, but this cake had a really nice goat cheese flavor which toned down the sweetness and gave the cake so much depth. I can't really describe it but it made a regular cupcake turn into an umami flavor bomb. The Seafood slider was also pretty good, it was like a crab cake but it had other seafood in it, I think shrimp and salmon. Overall, it was a really nice tasting and it was just the right amount of food after our heavy lunch!

Here's a better picture of the food:

It was a lot of fun and I highly recommend the tasting, even if you aren't football fans. It's reasonably priced and you get an apron to keep! Score!

We finished the night with a ride though the deep blue sea, and visited Mickey and friends at the new Character Spot which took over one part of Innoventions since their regular spot is all under construction.

We took the monorail back to the Polynesian and I saw that HEA was going to begin soon so we walked to the water near the bungalows and watched it there. They pipe in the music and it's awesome.

We had the most amazing day at Epcot, which is my favorite park!
So many different experiences can happen in one day and I love it!

Coming up...Dinner at Takumi Tei!
Salmon sashimi is my favorite thing, too! Raw > cooked fish any day, but if I'm trying to eat fish at home I've found that slow-cooking the salmon (a 20-25min roast at 275F) makes for a moister fish. Maybe they did something like that!

Yum... that looked amazing! Thank you for sharing your trips! I just cancelled our rescheduled trip for July and am going to try for April. This may need to go on the list!

Joining in and loving it! I've never eaten sushi (can't say I don't like it because I've never actually tasted it) but it does look very pretty in your photos. I love reading about other peoples dining experiences and feel like I already know you a wee bit from reading various of the Epic crew's reports. You certainly know how to pack a day !:goodvibes:thumbsup2

Holy cow Su-Lynn. Your meal at Takumi Tei looked amazing. This restaurant is definitely on our list. Did the $130 price tag include everything??? I know it was per person. But, that's not bad for what you were served...

Looking at this photo is making me very hungry right now! Something I have never trried but really want to the next time I'm there!
It's really good!
Thank you for your in-depth review of Takumi-Tei. I really enjoyed reading about it. The restaurant looks so nice with its unique decor and the food looked delicous! I love the cool shape of the sushi!
It was such a lovely dining experience! I highly recommend!
YUM! I am definitley trying this next time, I love caramel apples! :goodvibes
Mmmm they are soo good at Karamel Kusche!
I was really impressed with the breakfast Kari and I got to share while you all rode Soarin'. I'd go back there again for brekkie.
Me too! I was impressed that it was healthy and I liked it!
I think you are probably right by the description you give.
:)
LOL!! You're so good at that.
Haha!
Another amazing meal for you. :)
Delicious!
You guys are cuter than a baby yoda.
Aw now that is a compliment!! Thanks!! :)
Definitely my favorite breakfast place, but I like to balance it out with the chicken waffle too.
I have yet to try the chicken but I think I'll like it!
YES!!! I love for those places. :)
Me too! You are good at capturing those spots!
I've been trying to get that for YEARS and never seem to be able to. :(
I think they regularly have the pub tots and the mac n cheese version was a lightly newer offering.
I would too. After I ate there, I told myself I'd be back for that Seabass again someday.
Yum, soo good!
I was too. I was SO stuffed after that.
Me too!
Accurate in every regard. No even like the same animal.
Right? I'm glad they gave us a tasting so they know which meat to always choose, haha.
I'm glad I did the Omakasi too, but next time I'll do a la carte I think.
Me too! It was definitely a lot of meet and I like more sushi!
Takumi Tei looks amazing! And the water cake! 😂😋 We lived in Japan for 3 years too thanks to my dad’s deployment and I have a soft spot for Japanese food. DH took one look at your review and said “done! Add it to our list!” Super excited to try it next time!
It was really delicious! Oh that is so cool! I would love to live in Japan as an adult! I have fond memories of my childhood there!

Your dress is so cute!!
Thank you! Hot Topic for the win!
Let me just wipe that drool off the computer. Ok that is better. :P :D
You missed a spot! Oh wait, that is wine.
Wow, just wow! Your meal looks amazing. I've never had real wagyu and at first I'd winced at strip steak but you just made it sound delicious. And that sushi looks divine. I've never seen it round like that. We really want to try Takumi Tei one day but I'm not sure how Casey would do with such a long meal even if it came with sushi. Probably gonna be a few more years before we give it a whirl
It was really delicious! I think any other cut of wagyu would probably be too fatty, it is really quite marbled! The American Wagyu just didn't compare! Oh and the restaurant is more casual than you think. The Omakase only took like 1.5 hours, and they have a la carte which is what I would do next time - lots more round sushi and just share a steak dish. I think Casey would really enjoy it!
Oh, what a gorgeous looking meal! Thank you for your report and for making so many people hungry for Disney treats! I take it that was uni roe with your lovely sushi, or am I completely mistaken? I enjoyed some uni roe during a luscious meal in Honolulu years ago. I can see that a journey to Takumi Tei will be necessary in our future plans. Yum! :cloud9:
Thank you! I make myself hungry from looking at all these old pics and describing all the flavors we had! Yup the Sea urchin is uni. It's so good and one of my favorites! I was supposed to be in Hawaii on a Disney cruise right now but that has been cancelled. It's been a very sad week! I love Hawaii and Disney Cruising and combining both into one trip was just the pinnacle vacation, but oh well, I guess that may not happen for a looong time.

Ours definitely looked different!
Sure! I'm the skipper! I name you as captain, because if the ship sinks you have to go down with it.
If you say so!

I'd love to sail with either of you, my friends!!! :) @chunkymonkey and @pkondz :lovestruc 🛳
:grouphug: group sail!!!

I love raw salmon!! I think I just miss good sushi in any case! Yeah I'm pretty sure it was sous vide or slowly cooked to get it to be so tender and yummy!
Yum... that looked amazing! Thank you for sharing your trips! I just cancelled our rescheduled trip for July and am going to try for April. This may need to go on the list!
Thank you for reading!! It was really such a great trip with tons of good eats!

Thank you for reading!! :)
Oh you've never tried sushi? Even sushi with cooked ingredients? (Like california roll, which has cooked fake crab) - maybe start off with some of the cooked items before moving to the raw. But I love the raw stuff because you can really taste the fish. If you like fish then you get to taste it in it's true form, LOL. I knew people who wouldn't try sushi for a long time but then they finally tried it and now they love it. Who knows? It could be your next favorite thing!
Holy cow Su-Lynn. Your meal at Takumi Tei looked amazing. This restaurant is definitely on our list. Did the $130 price tag include everything??? I know it was per person. But, that's not bad for what you were served...
Hi Jenny! I think this was one of the best meals we've had at Disney! It really is an experience! The 130 for the omakase which is a prix fixe menu included all the food you saw but not the drinks. You can also order ala carte but we thought the tasting would be a good way to try everything! I'm not sure if you could share an omakase but if I could do it again I would do that and then order some extra stuff on the side. :)

I've yet to set foot on a cruise ship. I would've been on one right now, but.. ah well.

You an me both! Today would have been our 8th day on our DCL Hawaii cruise.
No not bitter, angry and upset at all. Nope. All smiles here because I love working from home rather than being on the adult deck drinking a Mai Tai.

And we would've been on our way back to Vancouver after our Alaskan trip.
No not bitter, angry and upset at all. Nope. All smiles here because I love working from home rather than being on the adult deck drinking a Mai Tai.
Absolutely! Work is much better! Much!!

Day 4: November 12th

Today we had breakfast at Captain Cooks, I think we shared the bounty platter. It looks really good, doesn't it?
It was definitely as good as it looked! I wish I had someone to make me those kinds of breakfasts right now!

We had to check out of the Poly today, but we were moving to a 1-BR at the Beach Club for a night...super excited about that. It just so happened that we had points that we couldn't bank and had to be used up and the Beach Club 1-BR was the only available room for the right number of points, so I guess we were forced to stay there, LOL.

So we packed up and dropped our stuff at Bell Services to be moved and headed to...Hollywood Studios! I wish I could be here right now! We had a couple of FP and walked around Galaxy's Edge and took some pictures and enjoyed the holiday decor.

It was really good! Just the right amount of tangy and sweet! We also shared a fried shrimp platter. It hit the spot. I didn't want to eat a ton as I had plans for later that night to eat around Epcot!

We did Star Tours and when we walked by the Oasis Canteen I saw they had another holiday drink so I had to get that one too because there was a Mickey Glow Cube! So cute! Yes I'm a sucker for glow cubes in cute shapes.

This was the holiday mule. It was good too but I liked the Winterberry the best I think.

And from Morocco: Spicy Hummus Fries with Cucumber, Tomatoes, Onions, Tzatziki, and Chipotle Sauce and Organic Red Sangria. They were both delicious! OK so I didn't realize who the Eat to the Beat performers were that weekend. It had a TBD on the Disney site for the longest time for our dates so I didn't think anything about it. But when we passed by the Americas theaters I couldn't believe who I saw: Joey Fatone and Friends!! LOL I was the biggest *NSync fan a long time ago so I thought it would so fun to watch! There were lines forming to go into the theater though, so I thought I could just enjoy the music from far away.

I decided I wanted a snack that I could just walk around with or stand and eat before the concert so when I came by Italy I picked up this charcuterie cone.

It was sufficiently packed with cheese, olives and cured meats. :)

I walked by the theater and they had started letting people in and I managed to find a seat in the back among all the other older women who were also NSYNC fans back in their hayday. 😆 Steve went to wander around by himself. Surprisingly, he's not an NSYNC fan, LOL.

We returned back to the BC where we enjoyed the school bread and the comforts of our spacious 1-BR! It was our last night and we would be leaving the following evening. :(

Coming up...breakfast at Ale and Compass!

I need to eat more fish in general. It’s just when it comes to mealtime I’m usually starving so I end up choosing something I know I’ll like over something I might like but there’s really no excuse. It’s not like I’m a skinny mini- I could definitely afford to miss an odd meal lol. I always like the look of sushi but then there’s Yorkshire fish and chips to be had!:rotfl:
I will give it a go the next time I’m allowed out of the house and let you know how I get on. Like you say- it could become my favourite thing to eat! Ya never know!

Wow that 1 bedroom looks gorgeous- I wouldn’t want to leave either! Love the bath tub too. Totally agree about stormalong bay. That pool is so much fun! Love the photos and what a perfect last day. EPCOT is my favourite park, it’s just so lovely to snack and stroll around and being able to walk back to your room at the end of the night is perfect!:goodvibes

I think we shared the bounty platter. It looks really good, doesn't it?

Oh, sure. No problem. Just hop on a plane, self isolate afterwards for 14 days, and then come over. Easy.
we were moving to a 1-BR at the Beach Club for a night...super excited about that.
Nice.
I guess we were forced to stay there, LOL.
You poor things!
and headed to...Hollywood Studios! I wish I could be here right now!
Don't we all!
Steve, looking bad***. And you're just there, livin' the life.

How do you find those?
BTW I am so happy they brought Vader to Launch Bay, I really am not a Kylo Ren fan, he's so whiny. Vader is the man.
 Although... I'd have to agree. It's like Kylo Ren is trying to be as cool as Vader... and failing.
I wanted to try a Winterberry Margarita which they were offering.

That sounds right up my alley. Tangy or tart plus sweet? ::yes::
We also shared a fried shrimp platter.
