Grocery Delivery

Does anyone have any recommendations for grocery delivery while staying at dvc's Saratoga Springs. It will be our first time there and we want to save a little money and time headed to the on property store a lot. We are normally at the Boardwalk and everything is very convenient.

Thanks

There are some online grocery stores but I found their prices really high. On our last trip we just took a cab and picked up a few things. (It was still cheaper to go to Walmart with the cab then order online)

On our next trip we decided to rent a car for a day to stock our room. (which is cheaper then a cab!)

Wal-Mart btw has tons of Disney stuff, we got all of t shirts there. etc

When we were there in October we used Garden Grocer and they delivered to the resort, but not our room. The delivery charge was $15 and there was an order minimum of $40. We had free dining and only brought carry-on so it was easy to make the minimum in breakfast items and hair products! lol It was more expensive but for us it was worth it because we didn't want to take the time to go shopping once we got to the resort.

We have used Florida Tours to pick us up at the airport. They will also do a 30 minutes grocery stop on the way to the resort. Worked fine for us.

We always use DME and always get a grocery delivery from Garden Grocer. Although some of their prices are higher than what I pay at home some are comparable (we live in the DC area which has a high cost of living). For example, I priced fresh strawberries with GG. They were expensive at $5.99 for a LB - but guess what? They were also $5.99 / LB at my local grocery store when I went shopping on Friday. (FWIW I won't buy them ANYWHERE for that much tho.) Anyway, I just placed an order last night with them for next weekend. I still find it easier than renting a car for a simple grocery stop and certainly cheaper than hiring a car service to pick us up when DME is free.

We are only going for a long 4 n / 3 day weekend - my time at the World is precious. We land at MCO at 9:15 Fri. night. Last thing I want to worry about is how to get some food staples. My order was only for 9 items (mostly breakfast stuff, water & beer) and by the time I added the del. fee, tax and a tip it was $70. My most expensive purchase was a 12-pack of Miller Lite for DH @ $13.99. My DH said that is probably only somewhere between $1 and $2 higher than what it would cost him to buy a 12-pack here at home. Meanwhile, Disney will charge approx. $6 PER beer. So for us it is worthwhile to just place the order, have it delivered to Jambo House Bell Services and pick it up from them when we arrive at the resort on Friday night at probably 10 or 10:30. Then we are good to go for the weekend.

I use Garden Grocer over WeGoShop because I want to pre-pay by credit card and don't want to have to be available to receive the order. (WeGo prefers that you are there in person and they prefer that you pay in cash.) I just want it delivered before I even arrive so that it's waiting on me. No fuss, no muss.

So, I'm sure you know this and I just googled to confirm but your ID name is also the name of a p*rno movie. Did you do that on purpose? If so, more power to you! If not, just FYI as I am sure mine is not the only mind that goes there when I read your avatar name. :/

We use garden grocer every time. Last order I was missing my milk, I called and they had if redelivered an hour later ( I think bell services might have lost it because everything else was accounted for- oh well I will never know)

They have been great every time we used it.

YOU my friend are the one with the twisted mind. WHAT on earth would make you goggle my screen name unless you were a pervert? EWWWWW. Gross.

NOT that it's any of your business and not that it has anything at all to do with the topic of this thread but it's just a nickname my friends gave me because I am ANAL RETENTIVE. Get your perverted mind out of the gutter and go watch your porn movies in private. :sad2:

No reason to throw around insults - seriously. Honestly I would want someone to tell me if my avatar had some double innuendo of which I was not aware. I don't care what you call yourself.

We drove to Target on Black Friday for groceries and their 20% off future purchase coupon....was THRILLED I did that!
That did get awkward! My mind always went to the "retentive" version, as I've read so many of Annie's posts and gained respect for her. Such a nice Disser!

OK, fine. I'll take back the pervert part but I'm sticking with the sick & twisted bit just based on the fact that you said you GOOGLED my name. Something wrong with that one.

Thanks. Glad you were able to "get it" without resorting to Google!! :lmao:

OP - sorry to hijack your thread & I don't think you can go wrong with Garden Grocer.

I've tried mouseconcierge too..they worked well.

I too went the "retentive" route, I suppose it's based on my exposure (or lack of) to certain things. Great lesson, if not exposed to certain things, it doesn't become part of where your mind goes.

Wanted to make sure before putting it out there. Your avatar is basically the equivalent of someone calling themselves "Deep Throat" - though of course that might just be a Nixon administration afficionado. Googling the name doesn't make me sick and twisted any more than Having the name makes you an 80's porn star.

Unless you were born in the 80s, or in another country, or don't have brothers, etc you likely know of certain flicks whether or not you've ever seen them.

I was born in 1970 and never heard of that movie, but I am finding this thread amusing.

OP - we've used Garden Grocer a couple of times and they were fine. Whole foods also delivers now, so depending on how long you'll be there and what you need that could be an option for you. I'm leaning towards WF for our next trip.

Dang, I wish I had known about Whole Foods. We would have totally gone that route (yay Texas company!).

We are going with Garden Grocer. This will be the first time we fly and it came highly recommended based on ppl here on the boards. So we will see what happens in 11 days! :goodvibes
