I guess I'm rope dropping IASW! ~ A March 2024 TR updated 06/03

Why is everything broken at Magic Kingdom?
Really!!!! Wow that sounds like a tough morning!
Do you remember when guest names would come up on the goodbye signs?
I'm not sure that I've even been on IASW at MK, at least not since well, I don't know when?
We headed to Cheshire Cat Cafe where I went for my beloved Cheshire Cat tail and an iced coffee while Kathy enjoyed the specialty iced drink.
I love that Cheshire Cat tail. I would just need someone to help me finish it!
I was heading for the resort launch over to the Grand now as I was going to see the Easter Egg display for the first time. That's next!
Yay for the Easter Eggs!
I have been looking forward to seeing this Easter Egg display for so long but my travel dates never coincided with it before.
I never even knew that they had them until Jill suggested we see them on my trip just after Easter. We caught them on the last day.
A CM told me the painting is done with tinted liquid chocolate!
Wow! That's neat to know!
There was a photopass photographer to the right of the stairs on the second level with Cinderella's glass slipper so I happily got a few pictures.
What a great photo of you!

Figment, a flower festival and Flying Fish!

Kathy and I met up outside of the International Gateway to head to Epcot for a bit before dinner. Kathy really wanted to do Journey of Imagination and hopefully meet Figment while I wanted to catch a set of Modern English. The show started at 5:30 so we headed there first to grab seats. Modern English was ok...if you ever watched Valley Girl with Nicholas Cage, the song "I'll melt with you" is one of their classics. Unfortunately tonight they were playing a lot of their newer music which I didn't enjoy as much. After the band finally playing "Melt with you", Kathy and I beelined over to see if we could catch Figment. I managed to grab a couple of classic shots along the way...

Unfortunately Figment had finished meeting for the day by 4 pm so we missed him. Kathy wanted to go on the ride so we headed there next. I hadn't been on this ride since our first trip in 2009!

We headed towards the International Gateway to make our way over to the Boardwalk but stopped for pictures first. I was happy they offered an Orange Bird magic shot!

Arriving at the Boardwalk we had a little time to kill as we were waiting for Billie to come over from Studios. So we collapsed on the Village Green and chatted and laughed.

IMG_5162.JPEG
Our reservation was for 7:30 so we headed over to check in at Flying Fish once Billie arrived.

Our waitress explained the specials and some of the popular cocktails. I went for the Cucumber Collins for my cocktail. This was light and refreshing.
IMG_5166.JPEG

I chose the Heirloom Tomatoes as my appetizer while Kathy enjoyed the Oak Grilled Romaine and Billie had the shrimp cocktail.
IMG_5167.JPEG

For my entree I chose the Plancha seared scallops while Kathy had the Potato Wrapped Red Snapper and Billie went for the Fish special with a scallop enhancement. Our entrees were plated beautifully, a feast for the senses indeed.
IMG_5168.JPEG
Of course we saved room for dessert! Billie enjoyed the Vaniila Bean cheesecake, Kathy had the Key Lime Cake and I chose the Florida Sunset.

IMG_5170.JPEG
It was a lovely meal with great service and our waitress was kind enough to take a picture of the three of us. :)
IMG_5171.JPEG
What a terrific evening with great friends, awesome food and stimulating conversation. Can't wait to do it again!

Billie was driving Kathy back to her hotel so they headed off while I walked back to the Skyliner. It was time for bed as I would be attempting a 4 parks challenge the next day. Would I finally make it to all 4 parks? That's next!

Beautiful!

This was a fun photo! I remember seeing the set up but couldn't get anyone to stop.

What a terrific evening with great friends, awesome food and stimulating conversation. Can't wait to do it again!

Dinner looked delicious. It's great you got to share it with great Disney friends.

Looking forward to hearing how your 4 park day went.

I love your photos especially the photo of you and Kathy at the railings with France in the background. Such a pretty photo.
Flying Fish is a beautiful restaurant. Their light fittings are simply gorgeous and the way the food is presented is a work of art in itself. We’ve eaten there a few times. I’m glad you all had a great meal.
Looking forward to your four park challenge 🤞

I was happy they offered an Orange Bird magic shot!
This is the first time I've seen the Orange Bird magic shot. It's really cute.
Our reservation was for 7:30 so we headed over to check in at Flying Fish once Billie arrived.
We have heard nothing but praise for Flying Fish. We finally ate there, and it was just "okay" for us. I remember that I didn't like the lobster bisque because of one of the spices they used. Our waiter wasn't very good, which played a role in our lackluster experience.

Kathy really wanted to do Journey of Imagination and hopefully meet Figment while I wanted to catch a set of Modern English.
ooooohhhh... a fight ensues! 👊
The show started at 5:30 so we headed there first to grab seats.
Looks like we have a winnah!
.if you ever watched Valley Girl with Nicholas Cage,
::yes::
Nice shot. How long did you wait for the monorail?
Unfortunately Figment had finished meeting for the day by 4 pm so we missed him.
Annnnnnd... there's the knockout, folks! Susan wins!
Kathy wanted to go on the ride so we headed there next. I hadn't been on this ride since our first trip in 2009!
Wow! Long time.
Love this shot of you two...
...but this shot is wonderful!! Love it!
I chose the Heirloom Tomatoes as my appetizer while Kathy enjoyed the Oak Grilled Romaine and Billie had the shrimp cocktail.
I'd have any of those. Yum!
For my entree I chose the Plancha seared scallops
mmm... scallops...
while Kathy had the Potato Wrapped Red Snapper and Billie went for the Fish special with a scallop enhancement.
All your meals sound delicious, but I'm very curious about the potato wrapped snapper
Billie enjoyed the Vaniila Bean cheesecake, Kathy had the Key Lime Cake and I chose the Florida Sunset.
Yes please. One of each.

Sounds like a wonderful dinner with friends. Your cocktail and dessert, especially, sounded delicious and refreshing.
Sorry you all missed Figment, but that gives you something to look forward to on a future trip. :goodvibes
Wonderful shot of Epcot with the flowers and monorail. Makes me wish I were there right now!

This was a fun photo! I remember seeing the set up but couldn't get anyone to stop.
They need to know the rule..."what mom wants, mom gets!".
Looking forward to hearing how your 4 park day went.
Much better than my last attempt!
I love your photos especially the photo of you and Kathy at the railings with France in the background. Such a pretty photo.
Thank you!

I really love Flying Fish. This was the second time I've dined there and I love the ambiance. As you mentioned, the lighting is so innovative and stunning. :)
This is the first time I've seen the Orange Bird magic shot. It's really cute.
I am obsessed with Orange Bird!

Your server can really make or break your experience. I am sorry it wasn't what you hoped for.
Looks like we have a winnah!
Well no contest really. We just tried to fit both things in.
Nice shot. How long did you wait for the monorail?
We actually just stumbled into this photo opportunity...no pre planning at all.
Love this shot of you two...
Thank you!
...but this shot is wonderful!! Love it!
This is one of my favourites. It captures such a happy moment and brings back great memories for me.
I'd have any of those. Yum!
They were all quickly devoured. :)
mmm... scallops...
They were so good!
All your meals sound delicious, but I'm very curious about the potato wrapped snapper
The potato wrapped snapper is the restaurant speciality. The potato is thinly sliced to resemble scales and wrapped around the fish. Then it is served on a bed of leek cassis.
Yes please. One of each.
They were all fantastic!
And a nice shot it is, too. :)
It was such a nice night. :)
Sounds like a wonderful dinner with friends. Your cocktail and dessert, especially, sounded delicious and refreshing.
It really was an awesome evening!
Wonderful shot of Epcot with the flowers and monorail. Makes me wish I were there right now!
Me too!!

We actually just stumbled into this photo opportunity...no pre planning at all.
Even better. :)
This is one of my favourites. It captures such a happy moment and brings back great memories for me.
Good! Because it's such a terrific snap. :)

I have seen that (at other restaurants), but wondered how did it taste?

It's time for a 4 parks challenge!

Animal Kingdom was opening at 7:30 so I chose it as my first park. I was going to finally make 4 parks happen after being thwarted by the 2 pm hopping rule for so long. Luckily I didn't have to wait long at all for a bus today. As I was grabbing coffee several CMs looked at my outfit and said "you must be going to AK." I guess my Simba hoodie was a dead giveaway. :)

My goal was an early morning safari and I didn't have to wait long. The safari hadn't even officially opened so it looked as though there was quite a line but it moved quickly once the ride opened.

First animals of the day were the hippos with three of them floating in the pool.
IMG_5173.JPEG

The zebras were not interested in so just ended up with a rear view of the three of them.
IMG_5174.JPEG

One lonely little giraffe was hanging out in the corner waiting for some friends.
IMG_5177.JPEG
The ostriches were walking around in the middle of the road.
IMG_5178.JPEG
Speaking of the middle of the road, we were about to be treated to quite a show by several white rhinos. They were blocking our truck and our guide was not sure if they were just showing off or getting a bit aggressive.

Mama lion was stretched out enjoying a little relaxation.

Coming off the safari I decided to head over to the Maharajah Jungle Trek. On the way I spied a photopass photographer and got a couple of cute shots. I completely forgot to do a number 1 sigh for my parks challenge though.

The Maharajah Jungle Trek never disappoints. The lush landscaping, the peaceful trails and the magnificent animals who live here are such a treat to see.

This day the Komodo dragon was on display. I was glad there was a fair distance between us as I know they are both quick and vicious. Still it was interesting to talk to the keeper and learn a bit more about their habitat.
IMG_5189.JPEG
The beautiful Sumatran tiger was putting on quite a show. His keeper told me that they had the female tiger out earlier as they were trying to spark some interest between them as they were hoping they would have a "date" and make some baby tigers. The male was very intrigued by her scent and paced around vocalizing.

I also spent some time in the aviary which was peaceful and relaxing. After the trek I headed to Expedition Everest for a date with a Yeti.

My last must do of the morning was the Bird Show.....It's always a great show!
IMG_5200.JPEG
I decided upon a snack before heading out and settled on the Pineapple Crisp sundae (Pineapple Crisp Cake, Vanilla Ice Cream, Pineapple Caramel, Crispy Streusel Topping) at Tamu Tamu. This was the ultimate pineapple cake with caramel, ice cream and streusel. So, so good!!!
IMG_5203.JPEG
Of course I finished every bite...I needed energy to head to my next park. :)

Stay tuned for fun at Magic Kingdom!

Love the outfit. You’re off to a fab start.
That pineapple crisp sundae sounds scrumptious 😋
I’m hoping you have good luck with the buses and get swiftly on your way to MK 🤞

As I was grabbing coffee several CMs looked at my outfit and said "you must be going to AK." I guess my Simba hoodie was a dead giveaway. :)
The hoodie is adorable. :)
The safari hadn't even officially opened so it looked as though there was quite a line but it moved quickly once the ride opened.
The early morning safari seems to lack animals. I like seeing the giraffes on the savanna but they aren't out that early.
The beautiful Sumatran tiger was putting on quite a show.
You are lucky to see the tiger. We always seem to miss them.

Can't wait to hear about your 4 park challenge. My DH decided to do this in April and wow...it makes for one long day!
Love the bird show. That pineapple cake sounds amazing! I didn't know about it, and now I hope it sticks around so it'll be there the next time I'm in DAK.

I finally got a chance to try Flying Fish (we changed around a few ADRs) and our meals were delicious. I had exactly the same thing as you (the scallops and the Florida Sunset) and both were wonderful!

Hooray for a four parks challenge! I’d love to try that one day. I’ve been to three parks in a day, but never four!

Animal Kingdom was opening at 7:30 so I chose it as my first park.

AK is the best park to start your challenge.

Speaking of the middle of the road, we were about to be treated to quite a show by several white rhinos. They were blocking our truck and our guide was not sure if they were just showing off or getting a bit aggressive.

I've been caught by the rhinos in the road before too. I guess they think they own it.

Love your outfit!

The Maharajah Jungle Trek never disappoints.

I agree. I really love this area.

This day the Komodo dragon was on display. I was glad there was a fair distance between us as I know they are both quick and vicious. Still it was interesting to talk to the keeper and learn a bit more about their habitat.

I've heard how vicious they are too, but I have never seen this one move off that rock.

My last must do of the morning was the Bird Show.....It's always a great show!

Love this show too.

I have never heard of this and it sounds so good. I need to have it.
