Mickey's Halloween Party and Halloween Time Superthread 2018!!

Ok, I have been figuring I'd figure this out eventually or by observation when I'm there, but why when I'm part of a community that is so helpful and knowledgeable?
The treat trails. ? Is it a specific course you walk to get treats? You can't just walk up to a treat station you happen to be passing? I don't understand because everyone already seems to know so no one else is asking!

Treat trails are usually compose of three or four treat stops (stations). You get in line and go from one station to the next along the trail.

@VeronicaMarie: Thank you so much for posting all the updates! I'm sure many people here appreciate the information. :) Your frustration with the CM and M&G glitches are understandable and are par for the course for the first party of the year. After the first few parties, things generally run much more smoothly. But it's great that you got your Maleficent M&G -- sounds like it was magical!

You are welcome! Yes the M&G was so magical! Worth the hassle. Oh also the Headless Horseman was SO COOL! Forgot to mention that.

Another thing I remembered, I did ask about Magic Shots. There are three standard Halloween ones (Zero, Flaming Pumpkin, and Cauldron), available at select locations (mostly the Castle, MS pumpkin) all day. No party specific Magic Shots.

I have also saw an Oogie Boogie magic shot posted on a Facebook page im in as well as the ones you have mentioned.

I have never done a magic shot but you can bet my bf is going to get tired of me asking for the Zero one. I can hear it now "honey do we really need a Zero picture every day?" at which point I'll give him the 'but it's Zero!' look and he will sigh and hold my purse. I can't wait.

Are they giving out the larger AP bags for treats this year? Or do passholders just get the regular bag they give out to everyone?

@figment_jii haha vampirina is a very strange addition - my kids will like it though :) same fireworks as last year - orb in the same spot? I am determined to not screw up again this time.

I’m still so confused about trick or treating! I am gluten free and don’t eat candy. Do they have healthier treats at each stop? Do I have to ask for them?

We went last year and they had lots of options. My husband is G free too and he was pleased. They have bins out with different options, from candy types to healthy. Each section we went to had tons of options. I got lots of Pirates Booty, carrots and apple slices to keep as snacks for the kids for the rest of our trip that week. You don’t have to ask, you just take what you want out of the bin. My kids went right for the candy and DH and I grabbed the healthy stuff.

Sally Slater (tightrope walker) and Constance are alternating at the French Market!

Woooooohooooo!!! Thanks @figment_jii!! My DD loves the tightrope walker and now insists on facing her every time we ride HM. She would be thrilled to meet her! Any idea what time they might be out? Or how long each is out before rotating? I’d love to see both. Did it look like the same costumes for Toontown as last year? We did Donald as the blue wizard last year. We’d love to see the PP characters. Is there a time they start at Pirate Pals?

I completely get it. It made no sense to me before we went last year either. I think you can follow specific paths but we just stumbled on them as we were specifically going different places. You can absolutely walk up to the ones you pass, and just keep going if there’s a line. We got tons of stuff just accidentally passing by some. Last year was our first time so I don’t know if they always set up in the same places. Last year they were easily found in bigger pathways as you are walking. This thread is full of people who have been before so I was confused last year too. Feel free to jump in with any questions. It was a huge help to me last year and for our plans for the party in a few weeks. Keep reading and it will be easier to decide how you want to spend your time and what to do.

Also for those confused about the bags bring your own. They gave out small bags that won’t hold much and probably aren’t sturdy. We brought reusable bags as suggested here. It’s great to collect stuff and snack during the parade and fireworks. I felt better that the kids had apple slices too with their candy!

Thanks for reporting back guys! Can anyone share on the Toontown pre-party?

It was fun, candy lines were long. We met Mickey and Goofy. They trade out Daisy/Minnie, Mickey/Donald, Pluto/Goofy so make sure you are okay meeting either character when you get in line.

Ride lines were very short, pretty much walk on all night. We started in California adventure at 3pm, with fast passes for incredicoaster, grizzly river run and Goofy's flight school. It was very busy and hot and we didn't have a great time there, also no FPs for RSR or guardians which was a shame. We then headed over to Disneyland for the party at 6, started treat trail at entrance (no wait), star tours (small wait), treat trail at Tomorrowland (10min wait) then space mountain (10 min wait). We were then able to do all the rides we wanted, all pretty much walk on, jungle cruise, pirates, Indiana Jones, thunder mountain, splash mountain. We didn't get a chance for photos with characters as the lines were either quite long, or they were on route somewhere and didn't stop for us. Finished with the fireworks and last parade with very tired kids. Amazing experience though, the only wait appeared to be haunted Mansion, showing a 30ish minute wait all night

Thanks for this information!

I'm jazzed about Friday! We're not doing ANY of the Halloween crap - we're going to be Ride Warriors, just like we used to do in the 80's! So excited!!

The first MHP of the season is over! It was a lot of fun! Much of what I saw and did was the same as last year. Some random notes/thoughts:
  • Inside the park ticket activation is at the old Starcade. You can also but the party merchandise there.
  • The AP treat stop is inside the Starcade. The gift is a postcard and a button.
    IMG_20180920_002846_zpsjvyi1wjt.jpg
  • Constance the Bride and Sally Slater (Tight Rope Walker from the Stretching Room) were alternating at the French Market. The lines for them were not long tonight, but there were no signs or any info saying they were there. So it was by word of mouth, social media, and by walking by. I wonder if they'll be busier in the future as word gets out.
  • Mickey and Minnie (in goldish-colored costumes) were meeting in the Dia de los Muertos area.
  • I saw Wendy and Peter Pan at one end of Pirate Pals. Red and Jack were alternating at the other end (at least I saw Jack leave and Red moved into his spot).
  • Toontown Pre-Party were similar to past years. Lots of treat trails and character M&G. I saw Donald (Wizard), Daisy (Witch), and Goofy (Mayor). The lines looked very long.
  • Some of the food venues closed to non-party guests before 6. We were at Red Rose Tavern and it closed at 5:30. After that, you needed a wristband to get in. Most everything required a wristband after 6 (I didn’t get down to MS, so I don’t know about those shops/food locations).
  • Food venues (Gibson, Market House) on MS closed at 11, but the shops remained open (except Uptown Jeweler) for some after party shopping.
  • Treat Trails were a mix. Some had mostly candy, others had more non-candy stops. The Matterhorn trail had one candy bin and the rest were non-candy (chips, carrots, cheez-its, etc.)
  • Villians Square was definitely popular. There were one or two M&G villains and then a lot of roaming characters (including Pluto and Donald). I saw Facilier, Queen of Hearts, Lady Tremaine and the Step Sisters, and Gaston roaming. After the second parade, Maleficent and Hades were at the M&G locations (each location had its own line). You had to be in line by 11.
  • There was kind of a good-bye show. A bunch of characters came out to the train station and waved to the crowd for a bit. They stayed until 11:15 and then left. After that, the end of the party announcement played.
  • Blue Bayou viewing area is at the end of Main Street (if you drew a line between Jolly Holiday and the Plaza Inn, you be in about the right area). We didn't do the package, but I asked a CM in the "reserved area".
  • There were a handful of guests waiting to get in at 2.
  • MHP ticket includes Maxpass, but not a lot was available in DL.
  • First Parade went from IaSW to MS. Second parade went from MS to IaSW. Vamparina is on the back of the Villians Float (where Gaston used to be). She's kind of a weird addition because she's not a villain (at least I don't think she is) and she really chipper sounding.
  • Candy and treats were similar to previous years.

Thank you for this! I have 6 days to go! and I LOVE how you organized your candy!!

We walked by the French Market just before 7 and it was Constance. We watched the Cadaver Dans and then did some trick or treating. When we walked by again just before 8 it was Sally. The CMs had a times list, so you can probably find out about when either is due out.

When I saw Mickey and Minnie, they were meeting in the Dia de los Mueryos exhibit. Pirates and Pals were over at the Mark Twain dock.

Jack and Sally were in their normal location between the HM and PotC shop in NOS.

For the treat trails, do they allow you to give preferences for candy? Last year, I requested "sweet candy"...I'm not a fan of chocolate. So they gave me handfuls of starbursts, laffy taffy, etc. Want to know if they still do that this year.

This is this year's bag. It features Wreck-It-Ralph 2 and Incredibles 2. It's about 9 by 7 by 3.

We were able to request specific candies. I think it helps to have specific things in mind and make sure you see them in the bin. Most of the CMs seemed willing to give us what we like the best.

Another random note, if you got your tickets in the mail (in other words, if you have physical tickets), be sure to bring them with you to the party even if you've scanned them into your app. The CM told us we need the physical tickets to get in (I don't know why).
