MK Sky tram?

Ok...I admit it's been a long time since I've been to WDW (1978) but I am returning in Nov.! My question is this...I remember riding on an ariel tram type of ride way back then. As I'm planning our strategy for our visit, I notice there is no mention of this ride in the guide book. Oh no! Say it isn't so! This was my chance to show my kids that I'm not afraid of heights (yeah right). Is this ride really gone?

Thanks!

Thanks. Now I guess I'll have to wow them with Space Mtn.

I appreciate your quick response.

Dan,
Thanks for the flashback. I had tears in my eyes as I remembered the ride. I was so proud of myself to go on it because of heights but I felt safe...no fear!

I did find the answer to my question on later posts...sorry for the double post. Now I see that 20,000 LUS is also closed. :(

I'm sure that seeing my girls experience WDW for the first time will be excitement enough to make up for these closures. And there is always Space Mountain!

Thanks for the wonderful pics & the welcome! :D

You still have Splash Mountain and Tower of Terror to prove your metal with heights :)

hahaha Takes a true disney person to think you're talking about Ariel the mermaid, rather than the chairlift...hahaha I couldn't figure out how Ariel was around in 1978....haha Ok, sorry, I'll stop laughing eventually! :p

This is EXACTLY what I thought when I read it, too! :teeth: I was bonking my head trying to think of what tram ride had a mermaid on it in 1978! I'm glad I am not the only Disney fan who read it this way! :)

Unfortunately, I never got to ride the "Aerial" skyway, but it looked like fun!

Aurora, I'm right there with you! ;) I was trying to figure out why I hadn't heard about character-themed trams!! :teeth:

Hmmm....sorry for the confusion. I guess I should get down there more often! You folks are funny. Thanks for putting up with me! Let's let this post die...shall we? :p

Thanks for all the help!

I changed the subject line of the post to eliminate further confusion!:p

Funny you should say that since one of the primary reasons for closing the attraction was safety concerns. :)

At least one CM was killed after being hit by a car and falling from the raised platform.

I'm sure others could fill you in on the rest of the details with much greater accuracy, if you're interested.

It was a member of the "showkeeper" crew (the cleaning crew) sweeping off a platform. The ride opened a little after park opening, and he was still up there sweeping when they kicked the power on...Closed off the path between Fantasyland and Liberty Square for the day....Actually more than one day I think. My grandparents were in the park...they said it was bad, because everybody knew...but at the same time it was very hush hush. I'm sure all major incidents like that are similar though...they don't want the details out initially, till things are definite.
