summer info for Port Orleans-Riverside
Looking for info about Port Orleans-Riverside, headed there in early August. We'll have two rooms to cover our family of six. Connecting rooms are a high priority. Any input on recent refurbishings that should influence our requests? Any reason we should consider FQ instead of Riverside? Any recent thoughts on Bayou vs. Mansions? Other than the frequently posted "best buildings", are there any that would be truly undesirable? Our boys are 10, 14, 18 and 20, old enough to navigate the resort without constant supervision.

After two wonderful trips to FW, we opted for regular rooms and gained a bathroom this time. We could tell 4 years ago that we had just about outgrown the bunk beds--and I figure the extra bathroom will decrease our morning start-up time considerably! [might even compensate for loss of early entry!] Anybody else out there who has gone back to a moderate from a kitchen unit?

Thanks!

We were at WDW from 6/10 - 6/22 and spent 4 nights at PO-R. We are a family of 5, so we also had 2 rooms. We requested non-smoking, connecting rooms and got them. We had also requested the mansions, just because we wanted to try them. We were originally assigned to Acadia House, but asked about Magnolia Terrace and ended up w/ a first floor room there. Our room was close to the river (and walkways to the pool and main building), but a long way from the parking lot.

The extra bathroom was great. It did help a lot in getting ready in the morning. We also spent one night at the Poly (in 1 room) and the one non-divided bathroom was an immediate problem for us.

Can't help w/ info about refurbished rooms at PO-R except to say that ours had not been refurbished. They were not bad at all, but did look a little worn (carpet, wallpaper in bathroom, tile in bathroom).

If you will be using the pool much, you may want to consider FQ instead. The PO-R pool is OK, but the bridge that goes across it is closed and blocked underneath, and the FQ pool has a better slide. Note that you can use the FQ pool while staying at PO-R, but you have to walk or take a boat to get there.

Hope this helps
Elaine
