Official July 2018 Thread!

Our magic bands have shipped!!!

DD and her BFF have their own room, so our magic bands were shipped separately. Their magic bands are due one day earlier than my DH's and mine. That's odd.

lol! So, we had a minor issue with our magic bands - we have 4! boxes of magic bands this trip:
1. From our original booking under the holiday package come on (6 magic bands)
2. From room one (5 people) when we had to add a 7th person (5 magic bands)
3. From room 2 (2 people) when we had to add a 7th person (2 magic bands)
4. From our stay in a Little Mermaid room the night before (3 magic bands)

(yeah....we have a ton of MBs this trip!)

Well, we got the holiday magic bands way back in December. Then the LM room bands and Room 2's MBs shipped 2 weeks ago, so I have those bands.

But for some reason, Room 1's bands just didn't ship until yesterday at 16 days out? There was probably a problem they had to fix, I'm sure, but it was so strange!

Today was my last day of school. I only had 4 students today, and one got picked up late. Funny how some parents forget they have a child at dismissal. Anyway, the 2017/2018 school year is DONE for me. It was a rough class, but I managed to meet all my goals with them, and by some miracle, even exceeded one of them. I went through NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accreditation renewal this year, and had our visit just last week. Thank God that ordeal is over.

I just finished a large pina colada and I am beginning to unwind. I will have nine weeks to get myself back together and feel like a human being again. I will have time to immerse myself in delicious novels; go for daily walks on the beach; sleep in; and get to know myself again. I can hardly wait for my upcoming trip to WDW. It's going to be a blast.

Final staff day today - I just ordered sushi. Can't wait to start the super-exciting life of a teacher in summer. First - organize the mudroom! 2nd - start lesson planning for a new course that I haven't taught in 10 years and modifying this year's bc we changed how we track... that'll take most of August. At least I have DISNEY in the middle!!!

Found this thread today so adding my vacation, July 17-25 at Caribbean Beach! Looking forward to spending yet another one of my birthdays at the most magical place on earth, experiencing Disney After Hours, and enjoying Toy Story Land.

Recently retired teacher here. I will be glad to get to WDW in 17 days!! Since I retired I took advantage of the Ultimate Fall package that came out yesterday for the week of Labor Day. No more planning around school schedules for me!!

You JUST had your last day? Geez. We extended our school days and shortened our year (didn’t even need to make up the 10 calamity days) so we’ve been out a few weeks now. On a related note, I have no idea what day of the week it is. Enjoy your break and your vacations! Congratulations on another year down!

We go back the last week of August for professional development. The kids come that Thursday and Friday. Thanks to seven snow days, we got out late.

We don't go back til after Labor Day, this is our normal end, no extensions for snow days.

When I was a kid, we always started school after Labor Day. I still get a tummy ache on the evening of Labor Day even though I'm already back in school...some baggage leftover from childhood. Anyway, even though they took away February break, we still can't seem to get out before mid-June, then adding the snow days, we inevitably get out the third week of June. If we started school after Labor Day, we wouldn't be out until July 1st. Unfortunately, my district insists on 183 days for kids and 186 days for teachers. Hey, it's better than year-round school. I still have my 9 weeks off to rejuvenate. I shouldn't complain.

We have our 180 days, plus Feb & April break. This year we used 3 snowdays, which were already built in. The threat is always that they'll take April break but so far I've only had the year extended once and I was already going on an IBO training then anyway!
