if anyone else comes across this in the future, the issue was when you're new to the forum, you don't have all features enabled (like posting pictures)

I'm pretty tech/computer savy but this particurar issue was making me frustrated. I have been trying to get a couple pictures uploaded for help and it kept blocking me, now I know why. lol
