Question about how to contact someone in the Navy?

My high school sweetheart was an American living in Canada with his Mom.

He moved back to the US once he graduated and joined the Navy. We talked a while later when he asked me to move down to Jacksonville FL with him even though we had not seen each other in years.

He went to the middle east and I talked to him a few times then as well.

Well, the last time I heard of him was when a high ranking official called me to interview me for a security clearance for him. He was doing very well in his career and needed a security clearance for a higher job. I have not heard from him since.

He is already a hero as he saved the life of a young child in Iceland while on duty. He got a medal for it. Well, since this whole Iraq thing got started, I find myself worried about him a lot. He was a great guy and I just wished I had loved him as much as he loved me at the time we were dating.

I am happy now with DH but I often worry that he has gone to Iraq and it worries me.

Is there any way to find out if he is OK?

I think I found him on peoplelookup.com but I am not sure. There is no phone or email...

If anyone has any info on how I would find out if he is OK, I would appreciate it.

I really hope he is happy, has a bunch of kids (he always wanted kids and I did not), and is healthy. I don't even need to talk to him. I just want to make sure he is OK.

I also told DH about this post and he is OK with it because he knows that my Ex was really nice.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

edited to add that I tried zabasearch.com and military.com

You might try his mom first (or another family member). I doubt you will get far w/ the military w/ security as tight as it is. I think your best bet will be to get in touch w/ his family.

Thanks...but his Mom was the only family member he had in Canada and she remarried and I don't know her new name.

I just pray he is ok.

If he has high security clearance you're not going to get anywhere with the Navy. My DH is Navy and even I can't get to him at times even in emergency. If you knew what command (ship or sub) he was on, it'd be pretty easy to get an address for him that way. But other than that they won't give any information. And besides military.com I have no idea what would be a good reliable resource for you to use. Since he is Navy, you really don't have too much to worry about with the Iraq idea. Yes, it's possible that he is in Iraq, but it's more than likely that he is on a ship/sub and not right in the front line.

When DH deployed they weren't ever in port of long in the middle east region. Hardly a day. They dropped the Marines off and got away. Then came back to pick them up later. It all depends on the type of ship he is on. I could be wrong but I believe that DH's ship is the only type of ship that gets that close to Middle Eastern ports. Most aircraft carriers and so forth aren't really made to go into ports there. They can do their job from farther away.

Please tell your DH that I really appreciate the job he is doing...:thumbsup2

If he was in Jacksonville and Iceland (for a deployment probably) he's most likely with P-3C Orians (aircraft). Was he in Jax for schools? That is where the P-3 school is. Iceland is one of the places the east coast squadrons deploy to. (or they did, prior to the Iraq thing).

If he's w/P-3's I might be able to help you out. There are only a handful of bases they can be stationed at.

Yes he was in Jax in the mid nineties. He told me he loved it there. He saved a child's life in Iceland when the child was choking.

He was there in 1996 and then to BahRain (Spelling?) for a tour also.

I appreciate all your help.

Bahrain is another place those aircraft can deploy to. I'll have DH peak at this thread and see if he can be of any help.

Do you remember if he was going to fly (not be a pilot, but aircrew) or what he does in the Navy?

From what I remember he was TECH type . He was computers and support. BUT he wanted to try out for the Seal Teams...I have no idea if he ever did. He was one of the fittest people I had ever met (football, soccer, etc etc...)and loved a challenge.

Thanks to all that are trying to help. He may be a civilian by now, I have no idea...I just wish him well.
