hello all
with WDW opening more resorts...
Pop Century for example adding 6000 rooms...
is there a possibility in the near future,
that you will have to stay on property to have access to the parks?

wondering

I don't see how that could ever happen. Disney relies on local Floridians, especially as a buffer against the ups and downs of the travel industry.

Good question, but it's not even a remote possibility right now. Do the math:

Figuring on the high side, Disney will have 30,000 hotel rooms. If every one of them had 4 people to a room and they all went to a WDW park the same day, that's 120,000 people.

Now Disney is very secretive about it's policies but during the 25th Anniversary Celebration, the press kit they distributed gave total park capacities for the then three theme parks (pre-AK) at 225,000. Add in another 30,000 (very conservative estimate) for AK and you are looking at a combined capacity of 255,000 people. And keep in mind that the capacity figures Disney gave are also ultra conservative since Disney never overestimates anything.

So unless Disney more than doubles its existing room inventory in the future, there's no danger that the parks would be full from just the folks staying at Disney. Off site guests won't have to worry for a long, long time. :)
