Routine Physical?

Are any of you keeping long scheduled appointments for physicals? I have one coming up in a few weeks and I'm not excited about stepping foot inside a doctor's office building. I called last week to confirm the date and she said they are still keeping those appointments and seemed put off that I was considering rescheduling. She says they are screening at the door and I should still come. I found that a little surprising.

I'm thinking of rescheduling still, but need to confirm if the doctor will still renew my prescriptions without it for now.

I went to mine 2 weeks ago, but have not gone back for my blood test results discussion. My doctor doesn't do ANYTHING digitally, so I have to wait. :sad2:

They called me to schedule the follow up, but I declined.

I had blood work done 3 weeks ago before this all hit our area, but the follow-up appt with my endocrinologist was done by telephone last week. I don't think I would go for a routine physical now.

My sister had an appointment with a doctor about her trigger finger yesterday. The doc wanted to do a web conference. She insisted that he would need to physically see her, so she went to her appointment.

I think she was foolish. She is 29 and our parents are 75 and 77. She lives with them.

If it's not life threatening, I wouldn't leave my house.

Oh, and my DD had a routine appointment last week and the doctor's office called her to cancel it. She wasn't going to go anyway.

I have an appointment with my PCP (I see him every six months) next Wednesday. I am hoping they will call to reschedule or do it via FaceTime. I have been very good about staying home and I would prefer not to go into the office. However, I need my doctor to renew scripts. So, we shall see.

They canceled my DH's 6 month diabetic appointment and blood work which was scheduled for this week.
And today my Lung Dr's office called to reschedule my 6 month appointment for June. She did make it very clear to me that if I have any issues to call them, tho. I was actually going to call them and cancel anyway.

Here in CA, all non-emergency consultationss are only allowed by phone/video, and all non-emergency procedures cancelled.
So, the answer would be a No.

We have not made any adjustments to our scheduled appointments yet - for one, we need to keep up with our current health related stuff BECAUSE of everything going on. For another, all of our doctors and specialists have taken a split-day approach - routine appointments in the morning, full cleaning/disinfecting of the office by staff during an extended break midday, and then sick appointments in the afternoon before a deep cleaning overnight. We go to small offices and I believe they are sticking to what they say.

My doctor postponed my physical, but is requiring a tele-health appointment to renew my Rx. I don't mind, but it seems like a CYA meeting as there is nothing that they can do in this session which would validate that my condition has not changed that we couldn't do with a simple confirmation phone call.

To me it seems like something that they are doing so they can bill for an office visit. Again, I understand the need for them to do things like this to stay in business, but it feels like insurance fraud.

Personally, I'd cancel anything routine. I've got 3 routine appointments coming up and I'm going to assume the docs will cancel. If not, I will.

My dermatologist is rescheduling my yearly check up, which I'm fine with.
I had another Dr. who had to close her practice temporarily, but she's already rescheduled me for May. I do really wish I could have gotten into her, but she sees a lot of folks who aren't in great health and I totally get it.
I have a dog scheduled to be spayed at the end of April, I'm really hoping that they don't cancel that.

I had mine in early March, went to my follow up a week later. For the follow up, they made those waiting wait in their cars to be called in, with the nurse and doctor wearing gloves & masks that they didn't use the week before. Took my daughter to the urgent care facility last week with (video had a 2 day wait, and would have been hard to see with camera). They took her temp in the car (not mine, just hers), asked questions related to COVID19, asked what was wrong, saw her finger, and said "oh, you can come on in and wait inside". I definitely would not skip annual screenings. If they weren't important and potentially life saving, they wouldn't be done every year.

My dd's pediatrician advised us to keep the well visit. They are set up with two separate "wings." They made one wing for well visits and one wing for sick visits. Each wing has it's own waiting area. Before it was all mixed.

I feel we should keep well visits and screenings. This could go on for months and months and delaying well visits could have negative effects. I keep thinking of my neighbors friend who went in for a routine mammogram last year and found out she had a very rare and aggressive form of breast cancer that would have taken her life in a matter of months. She had no symptoms and no family history.

All non-emergency appointments are cancelled here until further notice and done over the phone.

I changed a routine visit to a telemedicine appointment. No need to go into the office.
