Should I Go Back To PhotoBucket?

To recap:

Several of us used to use PB to upload photos to so that we could post them in our trip reports. They had apps to make it easy from your phones to use.

But they got greedy and asked for $400 a year to host your uploaded photos and provide links to post on the DIS:

The key word here is "hosting". To paste the link into a DIS trip report, the photo had to reside (or be hosted by) on a third party web site.

IIRC it was that PB had a basic low volume plan for free but if you had many photos posted  which triggered internet traffic they had to pay for, they had a plan that would host (more than I could use) for $99 a year. I admit I used it back then.

So after the $400 ripoff, I was downloading and getting my stuff off (not trip photos which I already had) but gif's, clips, and, useful attitude vids.

Example-Bama snuffs Clemson in the Nattie from two years ago:

So as I said I was taking my stuff down. And I guess I wasn't alone. Because as I did so, there was a banner add from PB that took me to this offer (note the left side):

So they are basically offering the same thing we had a few years ago. Should I take them back? Or not?

The DIS only uploads pix about 1MB which doesn't cover most GIF files and better quality trip photos.

I am torn. Advice?

Not a chance for me. Those dirt bags pulled a dirty trick slamming us all with that ridiculous $400 "deal". I've gotten pretty good at posting pics straight to the Dis. PB has lost massive money over their stupid backfire and deserve to disappear for it. It saddens me to go through good ole threads like "Post a pic of your campsite" and seeing this repeatedly:

As far as the Gifs that you refer to. Their size makes them a problem. I found it easiest to look them up and simply right click and select copy, then pasting them directly to the post.
Exhibit A:

I have a folder in my pictures labeled "Disboards" and in it I have several gifs like above pasted to pull from later if needed, but if the file is too big, I just copy and paste straight from the internet.

I mean, I've found it pretty easy to do it this way

so I've adopted this as my homerun way to handle the gif issue

Well most of my GIF's are over the 1MB limit so I can't upload them.

There are other alternatives I can explore though. Hate the idea of going back to PB, honestly.

Got a new phone, testing camera for picture sizes and ability to directly upload to link from a host site not named PhotoBucket. This is a 1.2Mb photo. ED

Try direct uploads for the 1.2Mb phot.

Try a link to a 2.5Mb photo in a 4x3 format. It was too big to upload directly.

No resizing, no extra app, no emailing. From my android photo gallery, choose the Share option and send it to Google Photos. Does the linking/host thing.

Works for me. :confused3

This offer from Photobucket might get me back.

Screenshot 2018-07-28 at 5.06.54 PM.png

The middle plan is $70 a year. The money grubbing CEO has been fired. Just at the bottom of the screenshot it says this limited time offer expires July 31.

What do you think? Probably the best offer we're going to get ($400 --> $100 --> $70).

Well I done did it.

In looking what what was still on Pb, the last album I had was the Gulf DisMeet 2017 event. That means I need to transfer over the Halloween 2017 and March 2018 pictures and then I will be current.

PS - oh and update the GIFs stored there. My favorites I download and keep rather just searching for a link to use.
