Some pics from my NYC visit

I’m in NYC for a few days - I had to get away from LA for a bit and NYC is my favorite city in the world. This is probably my 17th visit (or thereabouts). Right now I’m sitting at my favorite NYC cafe — Caffe Reggio. It’s been here since 1927 and is the first place in America to serve cappuccino.

This is the place I’m staying. But I have to share it with one other person. Outrageous.

Pizza from John’s of Bleecker Street. Purported to be one of the best pizzas in NYC. It was really good. But Di Fara in Brooklyn is better.

I never miss this place when I’m here. It’s open year-round and Halloween is my favorite holiday.

This was Jimi Hendrix’s studio, opened in 1968. Many famous records have been made there.

Thank you for the photos! We've been to John's on Bleeker St. If you get back to that area, there is a coffee company nearby which has been in that location for generations. (I'll try to remember the name!) One of the family members (Al/Albernon) was a longtime server at S55!
ETA: I think this might be the coffee place, https://www.portorico.com/store/.

Cool. I’m not a coffee drinker but I see that they also have tea (and I do like tea :-)). That’s close to Caffe Reggio so I’ll definitely be back there in that area at least once :-).

Thanks for sharing your visit with us, Rob. I think we all are looking forward to getting out of our houses and taking a vacation, even if it is a short one.

Thanks. I really needed to get away and it’s been fantastic. I’m sitting in Central Park now :-).

A few more.

I was at Comedy Cellar several years ago on a Monday night when Jerry Seinfeld showed up quite unexpectedly and did about 20 minutes. I was at a different club on the upper west aide on another Monday when Chris Rock jumped on stage and did an hour.

Cafe Wha? is famous for Joplin, Dylan and Hendrix playing there. For many years it was owned by David Lee Roth’s uncle Manny and when VH released their last record in 2012, the first show was done here. I tried to get on the list but had no luck :-(.

Carnegie Hall is famous for... being Carnegie Hall ;-).

Thank you so much for the photos, Rob -- they're like a mini-vacation.
Put me in mind of this:

Autumn is my favorite season, especially in NYC. I’ve skated all over the city, which has been great. On Wednesday I started at 103rd and Amsterdam and went all the way down to 3rd and MacDougal. Both then and yesterday I went largely through the park.

Hey, Rob -- one Disney trivia field trip for you, if you happen to be in the neighborhood: Have you seen the original Winnie the Pooh and (surviving) friends yet? They are housed at the NY Public Library branch across the street from MOMA. It is free to see them, and you can sign the guest book.

I may be by there shortly. If so, I’ll take a look. Is it outside or inside? If inside, I suspect it won’t be open.

Warriors. Come out to play... ;-). This is the scene/location of the gang meeting from the 1979 cult film The Warriors. Kind of an unusual movie but since I grew up with it, I love it.

This is how is looks in the cold (and wet) light of day... without all of the Ne'er-do-wells in attendance ;-).
