Thanksgiving flying advice?

Flying from Philadelphia to Orlando early evening on Thanksgiving....if we park in the garages and only have carry ons, do we need to be at PHL 2 hrs early?

I would. There’s no predicting the security wait.

Do you have Pre-check? Will you have a seat assignment before you get there? Last year my family and I flew MSP-MCO on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. With Pre we were through security in 10 minutes, regular security line was 60 minutes.

No pre check and flying SW at 5pm on Thanksgiving Day.

I would be there at least two hours early, but I'm also notoriously early for everything. If you're close enough you could keep track of what the security times are looking like earlier in the day. I'd much rather waste the time airside without having to worry about missing the flight.

Traveling on the evening of Thanksgiving is extremely slow, even before COVID.
