The Magic Of Happiness Is Here! A Tokyo TR Update 8/19

A Disneyland Morning

It was our last full day at disney and our last full day in Japan. But me being a nice friend, I told Marisa that we didn’t have to get there right at park open. With all the early mornings we had we decided that waking up at 7 would be life threatening.
We were out on our way by 7:45, we experienced our last cramped morning bus and train ride and luckily made it to Disney in one piece. When making it to Disney we headed to Disneyland for the beginning of the day. We were originally going to do Seas first so we could spend as much time as we needed there but Alicia told me she was working Fantasmic that night so we decided to do Seas our last part of the day.

The most kawaii monorail in all the land

We arrive to Disneyland about 5 minutes after park opening and had to wait about 15 minutes to get in thanks to all the people.

But on a good side note, today the sun was out and it was a bit warmer then the day before.

Yesterday we didn’t really spend to much going on rides in Fantasyland so that was the first place we headed. And what better way to get to Fantasyland then going threw the castle.

Of course we got distracted and by that I mean I got distracted by having to stop for more photos.

we finally got to fantasyland and first thing on our list was Pinocchio Daring Journey. It’s your basic disney dark ride that goes through the story of Pinocchio.

After pinocchio we headed back the castle to check out the cinderella tour up inside the castle.

27759491584_cc4aa04176_z.jpg

Unlike WDW with Cinderella’s Royal Table restaurant, tokyo disneyland has a walk through tour of the story of Cinderella told through pictures and different art.
We jumped on the elevator with another group and headed up.

If you wait long enough you might be lucky enough to see some 2 familiar faces pop out of the wall

27760426123_aa97f635b6_z.jpg

The last room of the tour is probably the best room, thats of course if you like multiple photo ops. They had these awesome photos ops, that I luckily knew about ahead of time. It’s just a regular painting of the fairy godmother…

GREEN ALIEN DUMPLINGS!!!

Although Cinderella’s tour was pretty cool inside the exit was the best. Overlooking all of fantasy from above is probably one of the nicest views ever.

Since we were right on the outskirts of westerland we decided to check out what the fastpass time for thunder mountain was. We were lucky enough to get some fast passes for earlier in the afternoon before we headed over to Disneyseas.
With fastpasses in hand (in our backpacks) we headed back to fantasyland where we got in line for the happiest cruise that ever sailed. It was a short 10 minute wait so why not?!

Next up we were on the search for one of the disney treats I have been dying to try even before we knew we were taking this trip. GREEN ALIENS MOCHI!
I knew at Disneysea they had them in the toy story section but I didn’t know where exactly to get them at Disneyland. Aliens? must be tomorrowland. We ended up finding them at the Pizza Port.
Pizza Port is a two story quick service that reminds we of Cosmic Rays at WDW.

28321061601_67b75b7254_z.jpg

28366773916_c3b493a973_z.jpg

We both got an order of the dumplings and I got a sparkling lemon tapioca drink.

27783083724_3c1bdbaaf3_z.jpg

The drink was quite delicious, it was almost like sprite and the pearls soaked up the carbonation so they had a flavor.

27783084794_e8ef5b9392_z.jpg

But the real question is, HOW WERE THE ALENS!?
I am probably one of the very slim people who didn’t care for them. This literally broke my heart. So many people rave about them and how you MUST have them while at Tokyo disney. Now this is not my first time I have run into Disney fans obsessing over treats that aren’t all that great, yet to them its the best in the world. I was just so disappointed in this hype.
The dumplings came in 3 flavors, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla custard. The insides were great (basically just some pudding) but the green aliens themselves were very plain and chewy. Overall not for my personal taste.
One of my favorite things about tokyo is everyones outfits and how much work they put into just a day in the park. The table next to us there were about 4 girls who spent a good half hour putting their hair in 2 buns and doing their makeup all to look the same.
Since Marisa and I didn’t have matching outfits nor have cool hairstyles we decided it would be best for us to leave, plus we still had more to do then sit there and be sad about how disappointed we were in ourselves for not liking the aliens.
we headed back to fantasyland and got in line for a ride that I hold near and dear to my heart, Snow Whites Adventure. I use to love and be terrified this ride as a child before they took it down at WDW. So I was pretty excited to go back on it.

28118055790_9868181369_z.jpg

28118057320_81b50366e4_z.jpg

I made Marisa wait in line for this for quite some time, maybe 20 minutes. Luckily we had the cutest little chan in line in front of us. She had on squeaky shoes that squeaked every time she walked, she played peek a boo with us and later on in the line was obsessed with a popcorn kernel that she played with.

28118039780_99a57b49ea_z.jpg

27785071443_c8d1fc8d07_z.jpg

Snow White’s adventure was everything I remembered it to be, with some differences. But still in all a cute original dark ride.
When we got off the ride the Hippity-Hoppity Springtime Parade was going on (as is does about 3 times during the day) I didn’t really have a need to watch it so instead we stopped so I could take pictures from afar.

27784038204_2126a6e7cc_z.jpg

28118044050_ea7bf775dc_z.jpg

Then we were back on our way to more attractions.

Awesome updates!! LOVE all the pictures!!!
Dreamlights seriously looks SO amazing!!
I'm super excited to try the alien mochi's, but I've tried similar stuff from the Japan pavilion at Epcot and REALLY didn't like it...so we'll see what happens lol!!

Native Girls In Japan

Since the parade was going on we were stuck in fantasyland until it passed so we could get to critter country to see a certain native. We basically did everything we haven't already so we decided to wait a really long time for dumbo.

28118042550_926a084d4b_z.jpg

It was kind of chilly underneath the tent queue and I was ready to go back outside in the sun.
What I was really looking forward too was talking high above photos of the park. Thats when I noticed a cast member walking around with a laminated piece of paper saying to cameras or phones out to take pictures while on the flying elephant…lame

28118040660_8d1a5da6ec_z.jpg

Once we got off our high flying adventure the parade had moved on and we were able to cross over into critter country,

28424122261_2648bd2b89_z.jpg

This was a whole new experience for me, I have never been in critter country before but I do know that here it is home to one of my favorite, Splash Mountain. Unfortunately on this trip it was way to cold for a plunge in the brier patch.

28424120051_fe44520578_z.jpg

Once entering critter country we passed by one of the quick services I wanted to try, Grandma Sara’s kitchen. From pictures I have seen the inside looks super cute and well themed, plus there are tables outside to watch passing logs from splash. This is just one of the hundred reasons to go back to tokyo.

We personally had no idea where Pocahontas would feel like roaming to in critter country, and since this was both our first time here we decided to walk around the little area.

It was almost time to meet poca so we wondered a little bit more and found a group with cameras gathered, we must be in the right place. (I will always be thankful for the fans for letting me know I was in the right spot since it can be more tricky to find characters thanks to them being able to just roam.)
Pocahontas was LATE! Girl I have to make my way over to Disney sea lets get going. She finally came out and everyone flocked around her. Marisa and I just followed the mob. She found a nice photo location to stop at and we just so happened to be in the back of the crowd. Meeting characters is such a weird experience, everyone huddles around one another with cameras in the air trying to get that good shot, Marisa joined in on the fun
“I got a picture of her friend!”

28501927095_3e7db3ed2d_z.jpg

Pocahontas also rocks the UGGs, how un native of her.

28501925585_0b5c7aefb4_z.jpg

28396965342_9ce485daa5_z.jpg

A funny thing about the fans that we noticed a lot with Poca is that they didn't want to meet her. They all just wanted to take photos of her. The people in the front would try to usher those behind them to meet with her so they didn’t have too. This worked out great for Marisa and I, the less we have to wait the better.
The most native girls in all of Japan

27885431864_866103d45a_z.jpg

Pocahontas just wanted me to be like meeko and braid her hair, so I had to be just like that mischievous raccoon.

28397013472_647bab16ee_z.jpg

Marisa on the other hand canoed on the land of critter country

27885431204_4ebf5b1f8c_z.jpg

We said our Anas to Poca and went on our merry way. Our merry way led us less than 20 feet away to Rackety’s Raccoon Saloon. This was a cute, but very crowded walk up food window.

28424101501_6f6bd8d0b3_z.jpg

Did we need churros? Probably not. But I told myself this trip to try all the snacks you wanted no matter what you spend because you’ll never know when the next time you’ll be back will be. Plus it was mickey shaped.

27886377263_da447a31f6_z.jpg

27886376283_3bd182da26_z.jpg

We headed out of Critter Country and over to Westernland to use our Fastpasses for Thunder. On our way there we passed what some may call #squadgoals. You’ll see a lot of groups all dress the same and it makes me wish I was part of their Disney squad.

I am so thankful for the groups of fans at TDL already, I legit have no clue where to find most characters so it'll be nice to have that! Was it the same with most characters that they just wanted pics of them, or just Poca?
Love the pics!!
Oh my goodness, #sqaudgoals on point!!

If you find the fans you will be golden. I only really noticed it with Poca but it might go for other characters that I didn't meet.

On The Hunt For The Lost Princess

Big Thunder was our last ride in Disneyland before we headed over to Sea and I was more than ok with that.

27885430524_28f92e91fe_z.jpg

Over looking western land was quite the sight to see. It looked like christmas crowds at WDW, but this is basically their everyday crowds.

27886372653_99f93015ae_z.jpg

Soon we were boarding our run away train and were ready for the wildest ride in the wilderness!

Overall Thunder was a great way to end our Disneyland trip

Little did we know however that our time at Disneyland was not yet over. My little spy on the inside told me to go meet rapunzel. I guess she is so popular in Tokyo that it’s hard to meet her. However today with the help of Alicia and Rapunzel’s friend we were able to know in advance that she was going to have a secret meet and greet. And luckily for us we were getting updates on where that would be located in the park.
Alicia told us to go to the gate by Haunted Mansion and that might possible be where she is coming out. So we headed over there and took some photos while we waited.

People were lining up for a parade so I had a feeling that we were in the wrong place. We waited to hear back though because I could be wrong.

28238304050_7ecc2653a1_z.jpg

We waited 10 minutes before getting a text saying we were in the wrong location and needed to go to Cinderella’s fountain. We moved fast because she was scheduled to come out any minute and if you don’t get in line right away you will never get a ticket to meet her.
This time there were no fans with cameras waiting to let us know we were in the right spot. Then we saw the famous maroon jackets and got up. Alicia was right if you are not in the right place at the right time you are screwed. No on knew about this meet and greet yet in the matter of seconds a huge crowd formed the longest line. We may have been the only ones to know about this but we were “slow” that were third in line.

27905455794_a744bbfc3d_z.jpg

Once Rapunzel came out there were 2 girls walking passed. They froze when they saw her, freaked out jumping and screaming, then ran to get in a line that they were to late to get in. That just goes to show how popular she is here.
When it was our turn she goes “you must be Pocahontas’ friends”

27905414884_63a02cde2c_z.jpg

We talked about our morning in Disneyland and how I need a pascal to brush my long hair.

It took us longer to get out of the park then just us walking down world bazaar because me being me had to stop and take photos of everything.

Yay! But trust me its so much better in person.

It is so great there, the details are what make it in my option the prettiest parks.
I guess it was a week before the kids went back to school, but the parks are also very popular year round. So it is a bit crowded. However I didn't really think it was horrible.

Goodbye Land, Hello Sea

At the entrance on World Bazaar or in our case the exit, you will find the famous roy and minnie bench. So of course we had to stop and take some photos.

Since the monorail was just leaving when we got there we had a couple minutes to kill. And all we could see was the Disneyland hotel, I’m very upset at myself that I didn’t go explore the resort.

Shortly after the best monorail came pulling into the station. The duffy and friends monorail! I would never expect me to be super excited about a duffy monorail.
Our car that we got in was Shellie May themed and it was so kawaii!

On top of the cute handles it also had fuzzy seats!

Hello beautiful!

Because the first day we ran right past the entrance of Sea is was only fair that we took the time to take photos in front of the world on our last day.

We had sometime before tritons concert started so we went in search of food. We remembered that there was a Mexican place in the back of the park that seemed pretty yummy.

Miguel's El Dorado Cantina was a great choice. Also I will never get over how nice the displays are here in Tokyo.

I got the chicken taco meal, as well as a strawberry mousse cake (I really wanted the little souvenir mickey shape plate, which by the way is great as a jewelry dish) Now after almost a week in Japan I knew their meals were small, so it was small but filling for the time being.

Marisa got the taco combo, 1 chicken and 1 shrimp taco. As well as some chocolate alcoholic drink (which I ended up finishing and it was quite tasty)

Once finishing our meal we then crossed the bridge to the other side of lost river delta.

While hanging out in the delta you may be lucky to spot some friendly monkeys who are looking to play. They just roam the area and interact with the guests.

The only attraction we didn’t get done in this area was the Raging Spirits, a rollercoaster with a loop or two.

28446300281_67659cf801_z.jpg

We didn’t have the time to wait the hour stand by wait, nor did I want to wait that long. So we opted for the single rider line. We however wanted to make sure we would be out in time to get to our show over in the Mermaid Lagoon. I asked the CM in the front of the line about how long the single rider is, they didn’t really understand my question and kept saying 1 hour. I knew it couldn’t be that because the single rider is always shorter than the stand by line but we didn’t want to risk it.
So Raging Spirits would be an attraction I didn’t experience. But it’s ok because with all the TR’s and blogs I read before this trip, most said it wasn’t the greatest and ok to skip if you run out of time. All I know is that it is a short ride with a really long wait.

We left the Lost River Delta and wandered into the Arabian Coast. I just appreciate all the details in this park so much.

Marisa became slightly obsessed with this wall of bowls on this trip

Agrabah Marketplace is home of Chandu!

We didn’t have very long until we had to head back to Mermaid lagoon so we decided to have another spin on the carousel, which all I wanted was to ride on one of the Genies.

27908268453_8a27a9f846_z.jpg

There wasn’t really all that long of a wait and being a party of 2 we were squeezed into the area that they hold the next group in, meaning we were the last to too enter and I wasn’t getting a genie. If we only walked slower we would have been the first.
We were clearly thrilled to get a regular horse

Before we left the carousel Marisa needed a picture with the Elephant she wanted to ride

We left the beautiful Arabian coast and headed under the sea for a concert put on by the daughters of triton.

Thank you for your trip report! I doubt I'll ever make to Japan, but I get to see Tokyo Disney Resort. Always enjoy your trip reports!

Love your trip report! The picture of you rolling your eyes while sitting on the horse made me LoL in real life. My sister and I are headed to Japan in October and will spend 4 days at Tokyo Disney. Im really glad that you included a review of the Monster Cafe. I was debating about going there but after reading your review, I think I'll skip it. Doesn't seem worth it.

Thank you so much! Tokyo's parks are amazing and I hope my pictures do some justice

I was truly not happy about not getting the Genie.
I hope you have the best time! The parks are amazing and beautiful.
I'm glad I could help, although I'm very disappointed the cafe was a bust

I Want To Be Ariel

Going back to Mermaid Lagoon and I don’t think I could ever get sick of the view.

We headed under the sea and got ready for a show that would be one of the coolest shows I have ever experienced.

Those in the fast pass were taking first, where we entered a cool waiting area and were placed in the first roped off area.

28068770184_d64c21f6e9_z.jpg

We waited a good 10-15 minutes before being let into the theater. Then one by one each section entered the theater. Walking in I didn’t know what to expect or what to see. The theater is in 3 sections in a semicircle around a little podium.

28068769614_01dd2dc617_z.jpg

We found seats near the front on the side and waited for the show to start.
Triton’s Concert was AWESOME! The cast of the show includes 2 puppeteers and one aerialist. It was all in Japanese so understanding it wasn’t a thing but if you know the little mermaid soundtrack you will recognize some songs.
In the beginning of the show a huge king triton puppet comes out above head, Sebastian the puppet comes out and they have 6 screens with already reordered “daughters of triton”, Ariel does’t show up for the concert and her father gets mad. Then theres a lot of singing and swimming.
The show is all above head, Ariel must have abs of steal because she is constantly swimming through the air. Overall I was really glad we came back to see it, even if it was all in Japanese. Sadly though there is no pictures/videoing allowed in the theater (allow you can find the show on youtube, I just didn’t want to be “that” tourist and followed the rules.) Also by the end of it Marisa kept saying how she wants to be Ariel, this was like a shock to me because she could not stand Ariel because “she smells like fish”
After the concert all I wanted to do was walk around and take in every inch of the park.

We took the time to explore the other ports besides the Arabian coast and mermaid lagoon. First up Discovery Port, home of the Epcot music (and it felt like I should have been walking around future world when it came on)
Aquatopia, a ride we never got to nor did we have a need to wait in line for it. It looked interesting but reviews let me know I wasn’t missing out on much.

It didn’t take us to long for us to end up in Cape cod aka Duffy turf. I’m not really big on Duffy but knowing that this is actually Duffy’s home I’ve come to accept him. He’s HUGE in Tokyo, everyone is caring him around and thats awesome. Some buy the $100 duffy and put him in children’s clothing and we saw one girl carrying a “flower” bouquet of little keychain duffys that overall had to cost her over $100 to make.
Once arriving to cape cod we walked up to the light house a looked over the area.

Just beyond those boulders was Tokyo Bay

Cape Cod consists of a store dedicated to just Duffy and friends, a little quick service and a restaurant. So with that we made our way to the American Waterfront.

If you weren’t able to tell, I’m completely obsessed with Tokyo’s tower of terrors beauty

Let Me In Big Band Beat!

We had one more section of the park that we hadn’t yet made it to, Toyville Trolley Park. And the only way to get there is to walk through the American Waterfront.
We passed by the Sailing Day Buffet,

This beautiful statue in the line for tower of terror

And the streets of New York, which I still have to take photos of later on.

Trolleyville was a lot smaller then I had anticipated. It really only had Toy Story Mania, which we weren’t going to wait in line for. It was such a small area for the amount of people smushed into it.

Slinky Dog let us down, they didn’t have the toy story shirt Marisa wanted.

Even though the area was small, it still had a lot of theming to it. And this toy story loving girl appreciated that.

We were off to visit, “The greatest city in the world”
I know I already said it a million times but the amount of detail here is perfect. Just the one short walkway known as New York was packed with little details and I was in photographing heaven.
The one thing I was really looking forward too when coming to Disney Sea was Big Band Beat. What could be better than jazz music, tap dancing and Mickey Mouse drumming?! Nothing thats what. Unfortunately with my luck the show closed a few days before we got there. I was heart broken.
