Using Vacation Points to Cruise

We have been DVC members for 4 years and are taking our 1st cruise

ever in Feb 2004. We booked with cash thru DU and got the rebate and on-board credit, at the time it was much better price(DU) than using points.

I can understand both arguments(pts-cash). We are also fortunate enough to have our pts(600) paid for already and just have dues for the next 39 years.

So if we want to book our next cruise with pts we at least have the option and the points to do so.Hopefully DVC will stop raising the amount of pts

to cruise every year.

We don't belong to DVC but just learned that we can use our HGVC points to book on DCL - so guess what I'm doing tomorrow? Yup, bookin' a cruise..... :)

:p The best thing about DVC is having the option to book a cruise on points/cash or staying at WDW or going outside Disney to another resort. We love DVC. We've been members since 1997. We are taking our first Disney cruise in July and we booked it with points. We also added on a few days at the BW to make it an extended trip. We try to maximize the use of our points by staying at WDW during the low point time. So far we haven't run out of points. :p
