Wedding Week Dining Report *Updated 1/3 Skipper Canteen COMPLETE*

Your welcome dinner looks spectacular and sounds like all of the time that I'm sure went into planning it and selecting the menu were very much appreciated by your guests. What an intro to Disney for those who had never visited before! I'm intrigued that it is "Le Cellier inspired" soup... meaning it isn't the exact recipe? Sounds like it was delicious, so no matter - the wording on the sign just stuck out to me. Based on the welcome dinner, sounds like your guests were in for quite the amazing weekend!

that looked like a WONDERFUL evening!!:love: Can't wait to read more!!
It really was such a good night, perfect way to kick off the wedding weekend :)

What an amazing night! I'm sure your guests loved it!
It was! So many of them had never seen the show before and were blown away. People are still talking about it.

Wow what a great start!
It was :)

WOW, what a start!!
I wanted to do something unique for my welcome dinner that you could only get to experience at Disney. I think I accomplished that :)

Following along. Congratulations on your wedding ! The Welcome dinner looks like a great start to all the wedding festivities. Looking forward to reading more about your magical wedding
:welcome: Thank you! It really was a great way to start everything.

What a wonderful dinner!
Thanks, it really was :)

The buffet looked amazing. I need to talk one of my kids into getting married at Disney or I need to talk my husband into a second wedding there! I cannot wait to read more.

Congrats!
The food was so good, Disney did a great job with all of it. I would definitely recommend for others to get married there. Disney really goes above and beyond to make sure you have the perfect day and I loved how they handled everything and I didn't have to deal with a million vendors. You could do a vow renewal there, I'm considering doing one for my 5 year anniversary ::yes::

Congratulations! Excited to read about your adventures. That Grand Floridian villa....wow. It looks amazing! The Fantasmic party looks like it was a lot of fun--definitely a unique touch. :)
That villa was really amazing, probably one of the best rooms I've stayed at while at Disney. I wanted to make the Welcome dinner a lot of fun, I was trying to go for something uniquely Disney that you couldn't experience anywhere else. Talking to my guests they were definitely wowed.

Wow, just wow!!! I almost have no words for such an amazing experience. From a snowy entrance to great food to pure disney magic and a near empty hollywood boulevard, no wonder your guests were wowed. I had no idea Disney did private Fantastic events and couple that with what looks and sounds like amazing food!!!! I can see why your guests were so happy. Bravo!!! :worship::worship::worship:
I didn't know they did this either when I first started planning. It really is a great set up, allowing us an hour to enjoy the food and company of the guests before the show started was a really nice. And the snow was pretty amazing. I knew that Magic Kingdom did that during their Christmas party, but had no idea that Hollywood Studios did that, so that was a great surprise for everyone including me. I tried to go above and beyond with everything I planned lol :)

So fun!! What a perfect way to welcome your wedding guests to the Disney experience. I looove that it was snowing on Sunset when you guys arrived!! Hollywood Studios is my favorite for the holiday season.
It really was. And I love how everything was so perfect that night, the weather even cooled down a bit while we were there, must have been from all that snow :rotfl2:It was really so beautiful while we walked down Sunset Boulevard. I'd never been there at night during the holiday season and all the lights and having Tower of Terror lit up was all so beautiful.

Wow! This report is taking my breath away! :cloud9: Can’t wait to read more!
Aww thank you!!

Congrats!
Thank you!!

Joining in!

Welcome to being a Disney Bride! They sure know how to make weddings unforgettable!

Your welcome party looked awesome! I’m a little sad now I didn’t do one of those for our guests, but I have no idea how I would have worked that into the budget haha. The food looked great, I’m glad you were able to actually enjoy a few bites yourself! I haven’t watched Fantasmic in a few trips to WDW, but we have it in our plans for next month so I’m really looking forward to it!
:welcome: When did you get married at Disney? I do like being in the Disney bride group :) Ya I had a budget and pretty much doubled it by the end of everything. Thankfully my In-Laws paid for the Welcome Dinner so it didn't hurt the overall wedding budget. At first I was a little worried that I went a bit overboard having two private firework events back to back, but it ended up great. I wanted to eat so much more, but I just kept thinking about how I needed to fit in my dress the next morning. I wish they would have let us take some of the food home. Enjoy your next trip, Fantasmic is really a great show!

That sure looked like a lovely way to kick off your wedding celebration!
It really was :)

Wow! Looks fantastic from start to finish :goodvibes
It really was, Disney did such a great job bringing everything I wanted together.

The guests were definitely wowed by everything. It was a lot of planning, but so worth it. So when you want an item from a restaurant on property they will always put inspired by. It's because it's being cooked by different chefs in a different location so it won't be exactly how it is in the original restaurant. The restaurant provided the recipe to them and tasted pretty identical to me, but I think they include that incase it isn't identical to the dish you were wanting. I'm really happy I added this to the buffet, people kept going up for more soup and telling me how good it was.

It's my Wedding Day!!

upload_2018-11-25_12-3-31.png

Leading up to my wedding I was barely sleeping, probably from excitement and nerves. I was a bit nervous that I'd end up getting sick since I wasn't getting sleep, but after a few short hours I woke up feeling great. I woke up at 6am and my bridesmaids were supposed to show up at 7am and hair and makeup was supposed to arrive at 7:30am. Lots of supposed to's...

So I looked out my window and saw this beautiful sunrise and the Wedding Pavilion where in a few short hours I'd be getting married at.

At 7am on the dot there was a knock at my door. I assumed it was my bridesmaids, but it was actually the hair and makeup team, they were early. I used Beaute Speciale for my hair and makeup. I did a trial with them back in March for my engagement pictures and loved how it turned out. They do a lot of the hair and makeup for Disney for their TV specials and after they were done with us they were going to help the stars for the Christmas Special get ready.

I started texting all my bridesmaids where they were. I was planning on getting everything done last and now I was the only one here. The original plan was to have my MIL bring my two stepdaughters to have their hair and makeup done first. Since my MIL didn't want anything done professionally to her she said it would be easier if the kids could get it done with first so they could go back to the hotel. My husband ended up being the one to drop off the kids and came back to pick them up when they were done. My bridesmaids showed up a half hour late and my mother showed up an hour late. But everything ended up great and we were done early.

I didn't take pictures of the food, but I bought little pinwheel sandwiches, orange juice and champagne to make mimosas, a fruit platter and a vegetable platter. People were driving me nuts trying to get me to eat and drink. So I had a plan for this day. My dress was a heavy ballgown with 7 layers and I had no idea how to go to the bathroom in it (TMI?) so I just decided I was barely eat or drink anything and just wouldn't have to. I drank 2 water bottles before getting ready and figured I'd be like a camel and store the water so I wouldn't pass out from dehydration. I did have a protein shake so I'd have something in me before I ate at the reception.

upload_2018-11-25_12-15-41.png

I don't have any of my professional pictures back yet, so everything I have is from guests taking pictures. Here's a look at the Wedding Pavilion as people are starting to arrive. Those petals that look black are actually dark blue.

The day passed by in a whirlwind of perfection. At 12pm I was notified that it was time for our first look. We did it in the Grand Floridian Villas Lobby by the penguin fountain. I wanted to include Mary Poppins somehow into the wedding. When we got engaged we had watched the movie Mary Poppins, Saving Mr. Bands (about Disney making the movie) and a documentary about the brothers who wrote all the music. We also met Mary Poppins in the UK pavilion for a picture, so all this happened before getting engaged and having the fountain seemed like a great way to tie it in.

Not my picture, but here is the fountain:

So I'm not very religious, but my husband is a bit more than me so we had a traditional Jewish wedding, with a traditional chuppah.

upload_2018-11-25_12-24-26.png

One of our groomsmen had a yamaka with Mickey ears on it.

upload_2018-11-25_12-26-26.png

You can see Cinderella's castle framed perfectly in the background.

So we did a surprise for presenting the rings. We had the Major Domo (he's the one in the movie Cinderella who goes around the country having women try on the glass slipper)

upload_2018-11-25_12-28-52.png

He was absolutely perfect, I really wish I had done videography, but it was just too expensive. I had had my Maid of Honor give the wedding planner the rings before the ceremony, so when the Rabbi called for the rings and no one moved and he asked a second time she got really confused and scared they got lost. I really hope my photographer captured that look. Then the trumpets sounded and in he walked. The guests loved it. He also helped people get over to our reception and announce us there as well. He was hilarious and people couldn't stop talking about him.

And then just like that we were married! We took some pictures while the guests headed over to the Grand Floridian ballrooms for cocktail hour. They then brought us over in a car so we wouldn't have to make the walk and put us into a little room so we could relax and try some of our cocktail food.

upload_2018-11-25_12-33-27.png

We had four items served at the cocktail hour and they were all sooo delicious! It was the first time I ate anything this day. On the picture above to the left is brie and apple quesadilla with caramelized onion. On the right are pigs in a blanket with mustard to dip. These were delicious. They made us each a plate so we didn't have to share.

upload_2018-11-25_12-36-8.png

On the left are crab cakes that were made to perfection and on the right are chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce and pesto sauce for dipping. OMG these were amazing. They offered to bring us more food when we finished, but I wanted to save room for our reception dinner. But these were amazing and I heard that a lot of the guests ended up filling up at cocktail hour because of good the food tasted.

It's my Wedding Day!! continued

They had our guests go into the ballroom and then had us introduced for the first time as a married couple by the Major Domo. He wished us well in life and then said his farewells. Then we had our first dance as husband and wife. I picked the song Perfect by Ed Sheeran and it was absolutely magical. We didn't do a complex dance or anything, pretty much just swaying, but I did twirl in my dress and all the guests cheered.

Our sweetheart table. It was raised up and was a little tricky get up and down from there in my dress. I had named the tables by rides and had the escort cards as fast passes for their ride. Our table was Peter Pan.

Our dance floor.

Our cake table. The bottom and top layer were red velvet cake with buttercream. The middle layer was lemon cake with raspberry jam. Decorating the table were the bridesmaids bouquets and my bouquet.

upload_2018-11-25_12-46-48.png

A close up of my bouquet. I had Swarovski crystal Mickeys in my bouquet. I loved the blue dendrobium orchids, they were so pretty. It was a cascading bouquet and actually really heavy to hold.

And the dining room proudly presents...your dinner...

Thank you to my wonderful husband for having his phone on him and able to snap pictures of all our food. First course was lobster tail truffle mac and cheese. This was really amazingly delicious. And there was so much lobster in this dish! When we picked it, I thought the lobster would be chopped up in the dish, but they actually put a whole tail on top too.

upload_2018-11-25_12-51-49.png

Sorry for the purple tint to all the pictures. The next course was Caesar salad. This was before all Romain lettuce became deadly with E-coli, although I feel like Disney grows their own vegetables, but don't really know if they are affected by all this. I ate some of this, but was really looking forward to my main course so didn't want to fill up yet.

A panoramic shot of our ballroom. I'm not sure why the lights look purple since they were actually a deep blue.

It's my Wedding Day!! continued 2

It was finally time for the main course. We decided to each order something different that way we could split them and try two dishes. We offered four different types of main courses: Filet Mignon with truffle butter (inspired from Le Cellier), Shrimp and Scallops with chimichurri sauce, stuffed chicken with cheese prosciutto and arugula, and a vegetarian option. My husband ordered the shrimp and scallops and I ordered the filet mignon.

upload_2018-11-25_13-0-27.png

There was also a sweet chili sauce to pour over the shrimp. The shrimp were on skewers and there are actually two put together to make them look humungous. All dishes were accompanied by mushroom risotto and seasonal vegetables. The sweet chili sauce was delicious and went perfectly on the shrimp. The scallops were cooked perfectly.

upload_2018-11-25_13-2-13.png

The definite winner of the night was the filet mignon. It cut like butter, was perfectly cooked and everyone else I asked said the same of theirs. I was a little worried since a mass produced steak can sometimes not come out well, but these were all made perfectly. On the side is the truffle butter and when put on top of the hot steak melted into a delicious symphony in my mouth. I was a little sad about splitting the meals now since I had to give half the steak to my husband. I make mushroom risotto all the time at home and actually prefer mine a but more, but it was still really delicious. I did eat a couple vegetables as well.

upload_2018-11-25_13-4-33.png

They served us each two slices of the cake so we could try both. For our guests we had them cut up and people could go up and get a slice if they wanted one. I was hoping if there was extra cake left over they would have given it to us, but we only ended up with the top layer in the end. I preferred the lemon cake, but both were really good. I wonder how the top layer will hold up in our freezer for us to eat in a year.

The rest of reception went great. I was a little worried about everyone dancing. I had a surprise for my husband, Mickey and Donald showed up to dance with everyone. He was completely taken by surprise, which made me really happy. I had to plan it all and he did most of the calls with everyone so it was really difficult making sure everyone at Disney knew not to say anything to him. But they were a huge success. People loved them and it got the party started and everyone dancing.

upload_2018-11-25_13-10-36.png

I picked their outfits and had them in tuxes to go with our formal attire.

I'm going to write up the dessert party we had later on in the night in a separate post...

Beautiful pictures! I'm glad your special day was perfect.
I listen to Perfect every morning on the way to work. Ed Sheeran did a version with Andrea Bocelli that is magic.

What a beautiful day, beginning with that sunrise. I would have had mega anxiety with bridesmaids being late but so glad it all worked out. The chapel looks awesome with the flower petals and amazing view. So many great details from Major Domo to your bouquet to table names to Mickey and Donald showing up. All the food sounds and looks amazing! Congratulations, again!!

You did a great job, staying calm even though your wedding party was late to hair and makeup. Every detail was gorgeous. Thanks for sharing! I've heard of Disney weddings, but have never seen a trip report of one.

The way they wrapped the shrimp together is genius, I love that presentation. Your cake and bouquet were so beautiful! Also love that the tables were named after rides, with fastpasses for the escort cards -- so clever! Also, Mickey and Donald look so proper in their outfits, I love Mickey's bow and their top hats!

So happy your wedding day was awesome! Everything looks picture perfect, and the food sounds especially amazing. Beautiful photos and descriptions!

Congratulations on your marriage! :)

What a lovely day! :D

On the picture above to the left is brie and apple quesadilla with caramelized onion.
I must be starving 'cause this sounds amazing.

Our cake table. The bottom and top layer were red velvet cake with buttercream. The middle layer was lemon cake with raspberry jam. Decorating the table were the bridesmaids bouquets and my bouquet.
Your cake is GORGEOUS!

A panoramic shot of our ballroom. I'm not sure why the lights look purple since they were actually a deep blue.
Pretty!

Wow. Your wedding looks amazing. navy is one of my favorite colors so I love your color scheme.

First and foremost congratulations! Your wedding sounds like an absolute dream and your dress looks gorgeous!!! And your cake and bouquet are to die for. I actually thought your bouquet was fake flowers it looked so perfect! I'm sure all the planning was difficult but it sounds like it unquestionably paid off.

Now of course to my favorite part: FOOD!!!!!!! Anyway we can do that whole reaching through the computer thing so I can be a guest at your wedding. Especially loving the cocktail hour food. In fact I may be making brie and apple quesadillas tomorrow :-) And your entrees wow! I don't think I could pick between the seafood or filet either. Amazing they executed everything so well.

Oh my goodness, what a perfectly magical day! Love Donald and Mickey in their tuxes! Can you post a pic where we can see your dress better? It sounds gorgeous! :)

Beautiful pictures! I'm glad your special day was perfect.
I listen to Perfect every morning on the way to work. Ed Sheeran did a version with Andrea Bocelli that is magic.
Thank you! I love that song, I always turn the radio up when it comes on. I don't think I've heard the version with Andrea Bocelli, I'll have to look that up.

I was having a bit of anxiety with people being late. I am always on time, usually very early for anything I have to get to and they were late for the rehearsal too so it was a lot of showing up late lol. They did show up to the Grand Floridian Lobby for pictures on time, but found out someone offered them a ride in a golf cart, otherwise they would have been late lol. It all did come out amazing, thank you!!

You did a great job, staying calm even though your wedding party was late to hair and makeup. Every detail was gorgeous. Thanks for sharing! I've heard of Disney weddings, but have never seen a trip report of one.
It was a little stressful with them being late, but everything worked out in the end. Disney really does a great job with all the little details throughout the day. Glad I could be your first trip report of a Disney wedding :)

The way they wrapped the shrimp together is genius, I love that presentation. Your cake and bouquet were so beautiful! Congratulations on your marriage! :)
They really did a great job on the presentation and I loved how my cake turned out. I wanted to have Disney touches to the wedding without going over the top with the themeing. We picked the rides and people showed me their fast passes they came out super cute. I don't have any pictures of them, hopefully my professional ones will. I picked out Mickey and Donald's outfits right now to the color of their bow-ties :) that was really fun. The food really was amazing, when I was writing about it I was wishing I could have more it was so good. Thank you!!

Beautiful!
Congratulations!!!!
More pics of you and your gown!
Thank you! I'll post some pictures in my gown after this post. :)

What a lovely day! :D
It really was the perfect day :)

I must be starving 'cause this sounds amazing.
I always seem to read dining reports when I'm starving lol. But the food really was so good.

Your cake is GORGEOUS!
Thank you! I really love how it turned out.

Wow. Your wedding looks amazing. navy is one of my favorite colors so I love your color scheme.
Thank you!! I always wanted blue for my color scheme even way back when I was still single dreaming of my wedding. Everything came together so nicely with all the colors.

In fact I may be making brie and apple quesadillas tomorrow :-) And your entrees wow! I don't think I could pick between the seafood or filet either. Amazing they executed everything so well.
Thank you!! I'm going to post a more detailed shot of my dress after this. It was really the perfect wedding, I couldn't dream up anything better. I wish I had preserved my bouquet, I didn't really think about it until after I got it and by then it was too late. I brought home some of the orchids, they really did a great job holding up they only just started to die. Disney definitely could work on their planning process a bit. For the amount of money I wish the planning was a little smoother and they were quicker to respond, but the end results are unquestionably great.

I wish we could grab the food from the computers :) When I was posting the pictures seeing everything again reminded me how good everything was and I wish I could have all over again. You should totally make those quesadillas they are really good. I really am impressed that Disney cooked so many meals to perfection.

Oh my goodness, what a perfectly magical day! Love Donald and Mickey in their tuxes! Can you post a pic where we can see your dress better? It sounds gorgeous! :)
It is definitely my favorite day :) I'll post a picture of my dress after this post.

What an amazing wedding! I love the surprises—so magical!
Thank you!! I love doing surprises for my husband all the time, so I had to do something for the wedding. I love that it worked out, it seemed like I had to tell all of Disney about it and to keep it a secret, which was really tough with him doing all the planning calls!

What a beautiful wedding. I teared up reading about your day and I only know you from online!!!
Thank you!! You are so sweet!!
