Where to eat

O.K. we finally decided to book HRH club level through Hotelkingdom.com and got our confirmation today. YEAH!!!! We are going for our anniversary and are trying to decide where to eat. We have eaten at Emerils and loved it, but were wanting to try something different if there is any other great places to eat. One problem we have is, our DS wants Duck (like he had at Emerils) and after looking at the menus, I can't find another rest. that serves Duck. Can you give me some other suggestions of great rests. including a convincing argument to make him want to go there instead of Emerils. ;) It's not like he has total control of our vacations. Ultimately we decide what we want to do and he deals with it. The thing is, Emerils is the only thing he has requested and I don't want to dismiss his opinion completely. It's his trip too. It's just that we only have 3 nights and since we've already been to Emerils, I don't want to miss any other not to be missed restaurants.

One more question: With club level, do you think it will be possible to eat a large lunch out, and have all our other meals on HRH club level's dollar? :) Thanks for your suggestions!

Thanks Barry,
Because of the great reviews, Mythos is the only one we have decided on for sure. Anything else?

Latin Quarters dishes up some fabulous cuisine!!! I had the grilled salmon salad and shared the sampler appetizers dish with my family. My son had grilled jumbo shrimp, beef and chicken on skewers atop yellow rice and garnished with tasty plantains. I washed my meal down with refreshing cabernet, while my son had a virgin strawberry diaquiri. Our waiter really dressed it up for him and he thought he was oh, so cool!!!:smooth: It's been since last spring, so I can't quite remember what everybody had or the names of the dishes, but can remember what I had 'cause it was so delicious.

You can find a couple of good links to their menu on this board.

;)

Mythos is really good.
Another sleeper place I hardly see anyone talk about is the little Irish bar/pub place that's in Universal Studios.
I believe it's across the street from king kong. It's a full service restaurant. My wife and I had lunch there and it was very good.

Unfortunately, I forget the name of it :(

Of course, Margaritaville and Emerils at Citywalk are great too. And don't forget the Palm in the HRH! The palm has HUGE portions, which more than makes up for it's slightly expensive prices. If you do decide to eat at the palm, make sure that you know how big the sides are. The sides are served "Family sized"

The name of this place is Finnegan's.

The name of the place is Finnigan's (sp?), it IS across the street from Kong, and they have live music & happy hour 3:00 - 5:00 pm :bounce:

Finnigan's is my absolute favorite place to eat while we're visiting US.We've never had a bad meal there and it's ALWAYS entertaining.I think MIB999999 can back me up on this one, there's nothing better than eating there when the Blues Brothers are performing across the street.

Great suggestions!! My favs in order are:
Emerils (did the Digustation!!)
Mythos (everything is yummy, NEVER miss it)
Palm
Finnegans (meat pie, and BEER!!)
Hard Rock Cafe
Latin Quarter

When are you going? I'm dying to try out the new Royal Palm Resort eateries!!! I'm guessing the asian Emerils will be way up on my list!!!

tinkerbarb, can you tell me more about the degustation at Emeril's? I read what is on their website but it's not very much. How much does it cost to do? Do you have to reserve it ahead of time or can you just choose to do it when you get there? It says the menu changes a lot... can you preview what the courses are before ordering it, or is it a "surprise" and you get what you get? Is there any choice in the courses (like first course, choice of two different salads etc)? Finally, how much does it cost?

Thanks for any help!

Lisa

tinkerbarb, We're going Oct. 24th (our anniversary). :) I'd also love to know more about the Digustation at Emeril's, I've never heard anything about this.

I've heard so many different reviews about The Palm, I can't decide what to do about this one. Can someone give me some more in depth reviews?

Any reviews of the other restaurants would be greatly appreciated.

Ok it's been a while, I'll have to go dig for my menu...
There where 4 of us and one pre teen. I remember that if one of your party wanted to do it, then everyone had too. It's a set course menu. I think it was 5-7 courses. Plus we opted for the wine pairing. The food was unbelievable, the service beyond compare!! and yes it was expensive!!!!! If I remember right, it's around $85 per person and wine pairing is around another $35. The preteen with us loved everything, but started to fall asleep towards the end. Expect to be there for several hours (I think we were there for 4 hours). I also left DRUNK!! My DH says that was from the shock of the bill. hehehe We recently went to Victoria and Alberts for comparision, and decided it was not fair to compare. Each are way to special in their own ways. Emeril's was our first experiance with such ultra fine dining and will be forever dear in our hearts. The service was so fantastic that it comes up in conversation all the time. Example... each person has their own server, if you get up for the restroom.. you are escorted, your plate is covered to stay warm, your napkin is replaced or refolded... our preteen was cold, they put a table cloth in the dryer and warmed it up then wrapped her in it!! We were also sent a thank you card from our head server after we got home!! V&A is very romantic, there is a harpist playing modern tunes, I had a soup that actually made me cry it was so damn good. I will go look for my Emeril's menu and respond again, but I was told that the menu changes nightly, you do not have to reserve it ahead of time, you see the menu before you decide if you want to do it, there were no choices in the courses, but there was so much varity, that everyone was very happy!!
