Why doesn't anyone make their kids wait in line?

I'm thinking about starting a business at Disney where I'll wait in line for you.

$10 for lines 30 minutes or shorter. $20 for up to an hour. $25 up to 2 and we can negotiated longer than 2 hours.

I mean why not right? Just call me dad when you get up here ok kids? Screw everyone else who waited in line right? That's for suckers.

Any takers?

thats what alot of the "unofficial" third party tour guides do, AP holders who have a side business and cash in on those just want to have someone take them around the park. I would bet that many of the line jumpers are actually joining their "tour guide" who they have paid to wait in line for them!!

I knew it was a good idea!! Dang it too slow Dannyboy, too slow....

I wasn’t talking about line cutting. I wouldn’t do that. I will however save a parade spot while kids and hubby go do something else.

My apologies for not realizing that you were only talking about saving parade spots. Of course, your original post didn't say you were only talking about parades, and the person you quoted when you made your statement was specifically about cutting the lines for rides. I hope you can understand my confusion.

There will be people around here who will say that you were definitely talking about cutting the line in rides, and that you only switched over to your "saving parade spots" position once you realized just how rude and selfish your original position sounded. Don't worry about those people. You can't let a day at Disneyland be ruined by thinking about the feelings of the other human beings around you!

I have never noticed it being a big problem at DL. There was one big group that did it while we were in line for Peter Pan, which irked me as they pushed all the way through a crazy line to get there. On a side note, Peter Pan has to be the most overrated ride there. It's ok, but the lines are always crazy . Meanwhile, Mr. Toad (a much better ride in my opinion) is basically next door and is like a 10 minute wait consistently

Nearly every ride we went on today we had kids join a parent waiting in line at the last minute. For example, dad enters line alone, and then 30 min later when time to board the ride suddenly mom and the 3 kids show up. Several times we had someone waiting just about to go and wave us through as they were "waiting for my kids". When kids arrive they tell tales of going to a show or parade or riding another ride.

Yesterday at the parade too, when the parade was 1-2 min away all kinds of kids crammed in with parents who'd been waiting for us for an hour.

Not sure why parents can't teach their kids to wait in line like all the other kids! I don't recall seeing this to this extreme at wdw!
Disney suggests doing this as an option for those with hidden disabilities to avoid giving them a DAS. This is a lot more common than you might think and is the method Disney prefers people use over getting a DAS.

If they get caught, their pass will get revoked and both parties will be removed from the parks.

Thank you for this tidbit, it will allow me to be more graceful in these situations. A good reminder that not everyone is out to just cheat the system.

Exactly, there is also a real possibility that they all entered the line together and someone had to run to the restroom, this happens a fair amount with kids and sometimes more than one at once.

How can you push past people in line at Peter Pan? That queue is very narrow.

I still don't understand how they can get caught. People aren't stupid enough to exchange cash any more. Everyone is using an app for these services.

There are plenty of people paying for the annual passes by doing this. Disney claims to be able to spot them but I doubt if they do.

If you see someone cutting in line or if they cut in front of you, you are allowed to say something to a nearby CM. We've seen this in action in ride lines. And we've seen CMs escort the offenders out of the line and, in one case, escort the father and son (who had jumped the railing at the Main Street train station to run to the front car) to City Hall for a chat with security. But, as has been pointed out above, remember that what looks like cutting isn't always what it seems.

I think people on here are too quick to judge. I have four children and there have been a lot of times I’ve had to leave a line with a child or two that suddenly had to go to the bathroom (despite a potty break shortly beforehand). They certainly weren’t trying to get out of waiting by going to the bathroom. I’m sure there are lots of people who don’t see me leave the line before returning. You can choose to get uptight over these things or you can chose to relax and give people a break. It’s only going to delay your ride by a minute, if at all (ex. joining a ride vehicle that would have otherwise been partially empty).

Posters have said that they don't have an issue with guests leaving a line to take children to the restroom. That is totally understandable, even if it happens more than once in the same line (BTDT!). But I think the OP and other posters have referred to people who take kids out of a line to ride other rides or to do other non-necessary things, then come back at the last minute to join up with whoever saved their places in the ride line. Sometimes it is absolutely clear that the break from the line was not for the restroom because the kids are crowing about all the other things they did instead of standing in line!

Just a thought, but when I went to Shanghai DL last year I seem to recall that there were signs and CMs at ride entrances saying that the whole party had to queue together, and cutting in line this way ("just joining my friends/family ahead") wouldn't be allowed. Which was great, as at popular rides like Soarin' I definitely didn't experience any of this sort of queue cutting. (Not to say there wasn't any queue cutting elsewhere at Shanghai DL though - the Fastpass queues were a complete mess. Heard they've gone to an app based system now though?)

Wonder if putting up signs like this at other Disney Parks like DL would help? I know if there was a sign at the entrance saying that the whole party had to queue together, if anyone tried to cut past me to join people ahead it would be a lot easier for me to say no, and point them towards the sign at the front...

Was in the parks again yesterday at DCA. My daughter was riding junkyard jamboree alone so I was waiting near the exit. There was a lady hanging around the very end of the line when you're about to be told which side to go to, waving people through. After a few min she said to the cast member "there is my husband and kids", the cast member left, opened the chain for them so they could cut right in! All the while kids were going on and on about how fun the "dancing cars" ride was they just did.

Later we were in line for the fun wheel. The whole time in front of us with a mom and one daughter. Right at the last minute, dad and FOUR KIDS join mom and one kid in front. It was a busy day and they were making announcements about how they would be grouping parties of 2 and 3 with other parties of 2 and 3. So, instead of joining mom and daughter with me and my daughter, the 6 of them now took up the whole car so we had to wait. But the worst part was, it was the last one in that cycle so we had to wait for the rotations. It isn't fair to assume the line is so long when you join it, only to find it keep ballooning as others join their party. And for the record, I heard dad and the kids quite enjoyed their toy story mania while mom and the toddler girl waited in line for fun wheel.....

I haven't experienced too much of a problem with this in lines, but when I do it usually isn't kids. It is teens and adults! Only a few times have been blatant abuses though. It is enough to be annoying for the moment, but not enough to ruin my day. For parades and shows I don't mind some seat saving if it is a long wait, but I do mind when people show up at the last minute and push their way into our personal space. At WOC once I had to brace myself against a railing to protect my 4 year old from getting trampled by a large group of pre-teens that thought they had the right to push their way to the very front right before the show started. It was rude and completely unsafe.
