Wine and Dine...to the Finish Line! Fall 2017 TR NEW 1/25 The Last Day - THE END!

I think MNSSHP is our main overlap. I attached our schedule, Monday and Tuesday both have Boma/BB because I can't decide if we should do that before the party or before we fly home. I think either way we cut water park time short. Originally I was thinking maybe I didn't want to get on a plane after a waterpark day, but now I'm looking at this again and thinking, maybe we sleep in a bit, do Epcot/F&W before the Halloween party, give ourselves a day off between waterparks... :scratchin

Awesome, will see you at the party! @cinderkelly will be there as well so maybe we can have a mini meetup before our May trip!
That's a lot of water park time! I was thinking of heading to a water park. Our APs give us access to them but I didn't plan for it yet. May have to pay just a short visit when we need to cool down. Have you heard which water park is better?

I also can't decide when to do Morimoto Sunday night. Volcano Bay hours are 9am-9pm, I know we won't be there at opening if we do a breakfast ADR. And I know we won't stay until 9pm. We can handle hours like 10am-6pm, I don't know about 12 waterpark hours! :scared: But that's why I can't decide about the dinner time, I don't want to do too early because we're also ubering to and from VB, but I don't want to be too late and we have lots of time to kill, because we would maybe eat earlier and go to MK for a little bit or something.

Is there enough for you to do at Volcano Bay for that long? I'm the sort of person that will be done after like, 2 hours in the sun, haha. Plus swimming and water stuff make me so hungry! We'll be either at MK or Top of the World that night. Let me know if you will be in MK. I think the park closes at 11pm.

I just had an idea for MNSSHP costumes on Sunday at work, so now I have a bunch of clothing items from Amazon that are supposed to come tomorrow - hopefully some of them work! Otherwise, I'm not sure what we'll do as I'm working 12 hr days all week :( I booked FPs for the party day, but I really only care about Jungle Cruise since it's not open, so I'm not sure when we'll get there yet... I'm so excited for it though!

ooh how fun! I am just re-wearing stuff that I have, but deciding between Village Belle and Ballroom Belle. I think the costume for village belle would be too hot. It's probably gonna be a warm and humid night so not sure I want to wear it but I think it's much cuter than the other one which really is just a yellow dress.

Totally agree! Unscheduled time is fine and all, and works best when you can be selfish and don't have to think about anyone else! But when you're in a group, so much easier to have set plans!

Yup! This is how I'm gonna do it from now on!

So, I was reading the reviews on this. You do the lunch and get a lanyard, plus printed cast photo (so you don't get to do a photo with the cast o_O). When it's time, you go to watch FotLK and you get escorted in to the front row of one of the sections. After the show, you stay in your spot, then are escorted to the Safari, where its just the group doing the Tier 1, and you get a special guide who gives you more info. So it's the basic Safari, just upgraded.

WHAT!! No photo WITH the cast??!? Like, what is the point of that? I don't want a printed cast photo that I have to carry around all day, I'd rather them take a picture and upload it to memory maker.
Argh that is kinda lame. The safari ride sounds pretty cool, and we were going to eat at Tiffins anyways so I think I'll still keep it although, it doesn't sound as fun as it should be.

I'd consider doing this with my mom, but I think I decided Rivers of Light dining package makes more sense!

Yeah if you really wanted to watch that show then probably a good idea. Although I don't know if you really need the package anymore, is it hard to get seats? I haven't heard it being too difficult and there's plenty of seats, and none of them are considered bad. I think the package is worth it if you get the most expensive things on the menu. If you aren't, then it's better to order a la carte and use your AP or TIW Discount, but I guess then no reserved seating!

Story of my life! Always planning fun things without asking other people!

Yeah, haha, me too!

I wonder if they got enough complaints and they will do something more special at the Epcot ones?

Oh I hope so! From what I read, it really was just like EMH so nothing special.

I do want to do ROL dessert party. But it's only on a few days a week and nothing scheduled past early November.

Yeah they have been really late in posting dates for the dessert parties. I added the Frozen one just a week and a half ago!

Um, definitely! She absolutely should upgrade. And if she does it at the beginning of her trip, she'd also get the cutting board!

Yes! I will let her know.

Can't wait to hear all about MNSSHP! We have tickets for October 8th. I haven't been in 2 years, so I'm super excited about this!!! We aren't wearing costumes, but I bought us cute tees from the Disney Store...I think you checked them out on my PTR...8-)
Have a great trip, if we don't "talk" sooner...:rainbow::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Thank you!! Have a great trip too!

Sounds fun, have a wonderful trip!

Thank you!![/QUOTE]

I haven't really yet. We talked about doing the waterparks last September and didn't, and then we spontaneously planned this trip - and APs were not in the original plan, so that was why we thought we'd just do a trip and knock them all out!

That's why I'm torn! It's so long... we can do 10ish to 6ish (close) at our local waterpark pretty easy, with lunch and a couple snack breaks. But honestly it looks like our local waterpark, which is the same acreage as the Disney ones, has way more slides/attractions. So maybe we don't even need a full day at Disneys either. We'll have to see. Though I'm actually on the phone right now changing our trip... basically I booked our hotels and flights with credit card points, and was playing around... we can fly home early on Wed (early enough Zack doesn't have to take the day off) and switch to Pop for Sat to Wed, all for less points than I used in the first place! So we'll have all day Tues now. I'm thinking of moving VB to Tues and doing BB Sunday. VB hours on Tues are 10-6, so we could get there at park open which is probably best anyways. Then we'll have Tues night (I imagine Epcot with EMH) and Sat night I can move up my Morimoto reservation! I am jazzed about this right now :hyper: I'm going to go edit my spreadsheet and then post it on my PTR...

Zack was being the more difficult one for costumes. I had suggested a disney bounding type idea, but it involved him wearing a vest  Here's the thing, Zack fell in love with vests for the wedding and he wears it everytime we dress up for the theatre and stuff at home. So he's like great a vest! Even though it will be hot out. :sad2: But he didn't like my suggestions, he kept going we need something really creative! This is a common thing for gifts, etc too... no it needs to be better! But he can't come up with a suggestion that is this mythical 'better'. So on Sunday I thought of Newsies, the broadway version - have you seen it? So that's what we're doing... and Zack can still wear his darn vest, and sweat to death (that is his choice), I found some tops and skirts on Amazon that I will be able to wear again, I got him a newsboy cap on Amazon, and it fits his criteria of really creative. :faint: I'm hoping the skirts aren't too bad, I think I'll be okay. It's so hard to decide when it's hot and humid! I'm used to growing up in the midwest where you designed your costume to either wear as is or wear over a snowsuit... typically by actual Halloween even if it was still hot out temps dropped enough for trick or treating it was fine... plus you were a kid and didn't care anyways because you were in your HALLOWEEN COSTUME! :hyper: :rotfl:

The whole trip sounds incredible!!!!!

We then have a 3.5 hour event - Festival of the Lion King dining package Tier 1 it includes: Lunch at 11:30am at my personal favorite: Tiffins! and a "private safari tour" which I think happens right after lunch. Not sure what "private" means but I think that means we just get a fastpass for Kilimanjaro Safari? Then we are seeing the 3pm show for FoTLK in a reserved section and that includes a cast picture at the end. Do you think I can get us all to say "Wakanda Forever?"

WOW! I hadn't heard about this one, but it sounds totally amazing! Maybe you'll get a private safari tour like the one we had on our second half of the Wild Africa Trek? It's on a different type of truck with padded benches and held less than half the people, I'd say. We followed the same general course as the attraction itself but were able to pull off on the side several times to really watch and get a good look at some animals.

It's all totally worth it it for the cast spicture at FoTLK!!!!

Haha at this rate, by Friday, you're gonna be like, well we've extended it to the end of the week. LOL
That sounds great though! Anything to stay at Disney for an extra day, right?

Newsies is awesome!! I'd totally do that one day!
I never saw the Broadway version though because it closed before I got see it.
So excited to see your costumes especially Zack's "vest"!

Wow! I can't wait to read the TR for this trip too! Looks like it will be so much fun!

Thanks! I hope so! I hope it won't tire us out too much but we're kinda used to our Disney trips being so packed so I guess it's not a big deal.

The whole trip sounds incredible!!!!!

Thank you!! I sure hope it is!

That sounds cool if that is the case! Oh and I just found out from Lesley that it is not a picture WITH the cast, you just get a printed cast PICTURE. ?!?$?!?!$?!!
I am totally annoyed by this but not sure if it's worth it to cancel as we were planning on doing all those things anyways, and it's a new experience so we may just keep it for now. I'll report back and let you all know if it's worth it!

I think the only way I would get that past Zack is if I'm cancelling all return flights because we're quitting our jobs and moving to FL.

Also. When they make me work OT at work, I Dis...

First of all, that @Lesley Wake knows everything!!! :) And I am saddened to hear this. Why on earth would anyone want a printed cast picture? You could print one yourself for pennies...uh, thank you Google images!

but with the rumors of Illuminations going away

I'm sorry - but WHAT???? This cannot be a real and true thing. It's just a silly rumor started by some kid who didn't want to stay with their parents to watch the best show ever. Right???

Your plans sound fantastic. And exhausting! I cannot wait to read all about them.

OK I'm finally posting about our time at last year's MNSSHP, and we return this Monday, Sept 3rd for our second time around!

November 1st Part 2: Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!

This was our very first time at MNSSHP - and for the record, I did very little research on this party. Our days are so scheduled that I figure, this is a party, I should be able to let loose right? Well, I'm just gonna say now, it pays to have a bit of a strategy so that you can maximize your time. But not knowing anything is also kinda fun as everything is a surprise!

We got ready and headed out on the monorail. We were a bit lazy so we actually didn't get into the park until closer to 6pm with the party officially starting at 7pm.

So I was relieved to see MK still had the Halloween decorations up! Because it would be weird if it transitioned to Christmas too yet still had a Halloween party. Although that may be a kinda cool Nightmare Before Christmas theme...!

So here we are:

Ariel and Prince Eric!

I decided we should be an actual couple for our anniversary otherwise Steve would just be Gaston again. But do you see how he rolled up the cuffs of his pants instead of just tucking them into his boots? That was all Steve. He googled a picture of Prince Eric, and he said, well this is how he wears his pants, so i'm gonna do that too. Usually he pays ZERO attention to that kind of detail and will just wear whatever is laid out for him in the most haphazard way so the fact that he did that made me feel like he was being a good Disney fan. #proud

I am wearing a corset now, but it was not that comfortable, obviously, so I took it off after the first hour. No corsets in Disney! :rotfl:

We had our first DISmeet with @soniam and her DH over in Tomorrowland!

We had a great time chatting, it was the first Halloween party for all of us! We were really looking forward to the end of the week when we would be dining with them at Victoria & Alberts! Their outfits were a fun play on a birthday theme - they were celebrating their birthdays as well as MKs. So they had cute birthday cake hats and MK 45th Anniversary T-shirts.

I think we may have done some trick or treating and rode on the Peoplemover. I am honestly not a big candy or candy bar person, I just eat a few, and I didn't want to waste all this candy so we didn't get gobs full like everyone else. This is where we also met @OhioStateBuckeye for the first time! Hi Rachel! Rachel and her DH are pros when it comes to MNSSHP and I learned a lot from her that night. We're gonna put some of her tips to good use on Monday! We decided to do some character pictures and would all meet up at the Main Street train station for the first Boo to You parade.

Meanwhile here's us meeting Pirate Goofy over at the Storybook Circus. All the characters have lines. There's no really getting around that.
We waited close to 40 minutes for Goofy, but that's because he took a break.

Rachel was Pirate Ariel and her DH was Captain Jack Sparrow. Their costumes were spot on! It was actually a really nice night weather-wise so you could totally wear the layers and not feel too hot. I cannot imagine doing these types of costumes next week so I'm gonna try and keep is simple!

Back on Main St, we stood in front of the train station, and it was pretty awesome. We had front row seats on the curb!

Our EMT friend Jeff was there too, policing the Halloween party!

The parade was a lot of fun. The gravediggers are the best part but unfortunately my pictures of them didn't come out. It's a very hard parade to photograph because it's so dark and everyone moves very fast!

After the parade we went to grab a spot for the fireworks. We sat in the hub area in front of Crystal Palace, and we even had enough space to sit on the grass! The Hallowishes fireworks are really cool because they are the 360 style fireworks which they only do on special holidays and parties. It was my first time watching it ever and it was great! My pictures and video do not do it justice at all, it's not like HEA where there are a ton of projections so it shows up on camera, this one was definitely about the fireworks and soundtrack.

Sorry lame picture, but really, it must be experienced in person to appreciate. :)

After the fireworks we all dissipated to do separate things, and our goal was to go meet Ariel with Prince Eric of course! We went over to Fantasyland and stopped to get this Magic shot:

We waited in line for about 40 minutes for Ariel and Eric as well. But it was the one picture I had to get obviously!

You do have to choose between doing rides, or doing pictures/character meets as they both will take up some time.

As it got later at night, we realized we were getting hungry but a lot of food places were closed and what was open was very crowded (Casey's) so we made do with a Dole Whip for now. On the next one I will make sure we eat a little earlier!

Finally we went back to the castle area and saw the Hocus Pocus show. It was a lot of fun. But honestly I have never seen the movie, not yet at least. It's been on my list forever. Still, you kinda get the gist of it and it was so cool to see all the villains come out!

And with that, that was the end of MNSSHP!

You definitely have to pick your battles for the night. We decided to do pictures and not even the most popular ones. The lines for Jack and Sally and the Seven Dwarfs were insane. We at least got to see the parade, the fireworks, and the Hocus Pocus show, got a decent amount of pictures and met up with friends, so it was a great night, although we only went on two rides: the Peoplemover, and BTMRR. I know for sure this coming Monday my sister will be all over the characters, but we may bow out of most of them and just do rides and walk around and check out merchandise. I didn't buy anything last year because I barely had time to look at anything! I also know to at least eat early or otherwise all the QS places will be closed. I think this year they have more food options but I have to double check.

It was still a very fun night though. The weather was great and the shows and parade were a lot of fun!

We took the boat launch back to the GF. I love how close it is to MK. We went to check out the quick service options but there was literally only one option that late at night: pizza.

So I guess pizza it is for our anniversary dinner! :lovestruc

We just got a plain tomato mozzarella pizza. It was actually better than I expected it to be, and we were so hungry that it definitely hit the spot. We'll make up for the lack of a celebration dinner later on this week at our V & A dinner though :)

This will be my last TR post before we leave for our next WDW in 1.5 days! Can't believe the trip is upon us. I still haven't decided exactly what I'm wearing to MNSSHP. I may cop out and just not wear a costume, since the forecast is for thunderstorms, blech.

So with that said...

See Ya Real Soon!

I wish we'd seen it on stage. They filmed it and it's on Netflix :thumbsup2

Ah ok, will have to check it out!

:rotfl2:
I think the only way I would get that past Zack is if I'm cancelling all return flights because we're quitting our jobs and moving to FL.

Also. When they make me work OT at work, I Dis...

Haha well then maybe we'll see you in FL more often! Who knows? :)

First of all, that @Lesley Wake knows everything!!! :) And I am saddened to hear this. Why on earth would anyone want a printed cast picture? You could print one yourself for pennies...uh, thank you Google images!

Yes @Lesley Wake knows everything!!
I know right? So lame...but I hear you get to sit in the first row, which would be kinda cool, but also a bit daunting. I'm a back row seat kinda girl, LOL.

(Couldn’t find just the graphic...but I’m planning on getting this shirt one trip!)

Haha this is totally you!

I'm sorry - but WHAT???? This cannot be a real and true thing. It's just a silly rumor started by some kid who didn't want to stay with their parents to watch the best show ever. Right???

Your plans sound fantastic. And exhausting! I cannot wait to read all about them.

Right. Of course it is. :cutie:

I don't know, it's just a rumor now, maybe they are updating it but in a minor way, not sure, all I know is that all the blogs and websites are reporting of some new permits filed for that lake, so who knows with Disney, they pulled Wishes pretty quickly...but I was definitely more of an Illuminations girl than a Wishes girl, so if they get ride of Illuminations it would be very sad for me.

Thank you!!

I've come to the conclusion that no Disney trip is all that relaxing haha so might as well make the best of it!!

Right? Might as well make the most of it!! :thumbsup2

The Halloween party was a lot of fun. I knew from Rachel how much you had to pick your battles at the parties. It goes really fast. I feel like we didn't do that much, but we did everything we wanted and had a great time. We really enjoyed the parade, fireworks, and show. We don't usually like the parades or shows, but they really amp it up for the parties. I am looking forward to doing the xmas party solo.

Well, I'm just gonna say now, it pays to have a bit of a strategy so that you can maximize your time.
Yes! We learned that the hard way at the Christmas party. I thought, oh were not lining up for the super popular characters itll be fine! Not quite....
Usually he pays ZERO attention to that kind of detail and will just wear whatever is laid out for him in the most haphazard way so the fact that he did that made me feel like he was being a good Disney fan. #proud
:rotfl: Zack is obsessing over his outfit. Is this vest dark enough? This shirt isn't quite the right color... he cares more than I do!
Haha well then maybe we'll see you in FL more often! Who knows? :)
It's been a serious thought. I like CO, but I dont like the craziness around Denver and the cost of living. And no one wants to pay decent wages, it feels... We'll see. But think of all the Dismeets! :rotfl:

Hi!!!

You guys all ready to go Sept 3? You got your mnsshp ready?? Haha it's all about the plan. We're going Tuesday October 3. This year's costumes are starlord and gamora (green face paint, anybody else? Just me?)

Are you dressing up?

It was really nice meeting you two, your somewhat of trip report celebrities here :)

Feel free to pm me with any mnsshp plans or last minute questions :)

I think you did an amazing job on your party accomplishments without having any type of plan going into it!! Love those Haunted Mansion pics--so cool!!! If you happen to end up with any MNSSHP exclusive Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom cards at your party this time around, I happen to know a little curly headed boy who'd love to take it off your hands ;)

Have so much fun!!! Can't wait to see your costume this time around! You made an adorable Ariel :)

Definitely a fun night. I really want to do the Halloween party one year. And how have you not seen Hocus Pocus? Definitely need to remedy that this year.

It does go by really fast...I am not sure what to do this year, I definitely want to watch the fireworks and parade, and maybe do more rides. I have done meets with Seven Dwarfs and Jack and Sally before so I can probably skip the crazy lines for those, but I would really like Elvis Stich but I heard his line was 3 hours long at the beginning of the party. Sheesh.
I liked the treats more at the X-mas party, I liked how each station would have a different thing, like a pretzel, or a cookie, or a snow cone. The Halloween parade is better though.

Yes! We learned that the hard way at the Christmas party. I thought, oh were not lining up for the super popular characters itll be fine! Not quite....

Yeah it will be hard to stay away, my sister has her work cut out for her. I think I'll let Steve do more rides this time because he did all the character pictures last time. Maybe we'll even get more candy!

:rotfl: Zack is obsessing over his outfit. Is this vest dark enough? This shirt isn't quite the right color... he cares more than I do!

Aww he needs it to be perfect!

It's been a serious thought. I like CO, but I dont like the craziness around Denver and the cost of living. And no one wants to pay decent wages, it feels... We'll see. But think of all the Dismeets! :rotfl:

You will win for most DISmeets for sure if you moved to FL! I hear ya, it's expensive everywhere! Cost of Living is so high in NYC...blech.

Hi!!!

hi Rachel! Thanks a lot for your help last year! I think we're pretty much gonna do the same thing we did last year.
Starlord and Gamora! I love it! I can totally see the both of you in this! You guys will be amazing!

Are you dressing up?

Sort of - think we have decided on Gaston and Belle. I am not sure if I'm gonna be village Belle or ballroom Belle yet though.

It was really nice meeting you two, your somewhat of trip report celebrities here :)

Feel free to pm me with any mnsshp plans or last minute questions :)

Thanks Rachel!! I could say the same about you guys! :)
Hope you have a great trip in October!
Thanks so much! I will PM you my questions for this trip...

Thanks! It was a really fun night although we did spend half of it waiting..waiting for charaters, for fireworks, for the parade. Gotta get used to a lot of waits!
I will be sure to get a SoTMK card at the party! If I do I'll send it over to you :)

Thank you!! I hope I'm in the mood for costumes. Right now weather is...85 degrees with thunderstorms...blech.

Definitely a fun night. I really want to do the Halloween party one year. And how have you not seen Hocus Pocus? Definitely need to remedy that this year.

Thank you! It was a fun experience and you should totally try it!
I know, I know, I have not been able to see it! I should try and see if it's on Netflix or Prime so I can watch it before our trip...
