Those are cute...Can I justify shopping this early??

Carolyn, Lucky to have found the time to DIS in between opening all the windows in the house to cool the upstairs...

Dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, (dig the whole day through...) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

For those attending the May 20 DIS meet at Downtown Disney:

Mrs. Woody went to Disneyland today and picked up a flier about the "Second Annual Disney's California Food and Wine Weekends." They are every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from April 27 to May 20 (the DIS meet is on the last day). There are complimentary events, and ones where a fee is charged.

For more information, visit: http://DisneysCaliforniaFoodAndWineWeekends.com

Woody

We tried to book that weekend but it is sold out. We will be going the weekend of the 12th!!:cool1:

Karen

You mean the University of Spoiled Children!! Sorry, couldn't resist!!

My mom & dad were both USC graduates--in fact, that's where they met (in 1944). I have to say that they probably fit that description!:rotfl:

PS: None of us 4 kids went to SC--we all graduated from AZ universities. Nevertheless, we probably fit in the "spoiled children" category, too!:rotfl2:

Someone on another thread posted that you are no longer allowed to ship wine to your stateroomas the warehouse will no longer accept liquids.

Does that include your shipments, Karen, from the wine shop? I was sure hoping to purchase wine from you for both this cruise and our December cruise.

Noel

Gosh, Noel, if you don't know, who would!!:rotfl2:

Meant to be a compliment of course, as you are the bomb when it comes to info!!:worship:

Not sure who to call to confirm this. We have always stayed at WDW and DL prior to cruising and shipped our wine there and just brought it on board with us. :confused3

Karen

:sad1: The school district has won. My son will be in state testing during that period and yes, he will lose class credits for missing 10 days of high school. I can't take that chance, he is real smart but not the best student (doesn't like to do homework). So, with a very heavy heart, I have just asked my wonderful travel agent to cancel this cruise. I will be back before the sail date to wish all you wonderful people a bon voyage!! I guess I won't be needing the spots in the Hummerzine.....:sad1: I won't get to go to Bunco....:sad1:

On a happy note, I wish all of you the very best time on this cruise and I hope to meet you on a future cruise. :wave2:

Tammy,

I am so sad that you can't go, and our family can relate! We just cancelled our med cruise today.

With the 1 1/2 year delay with the expansion of our wine shop, we just can't see going out of town for that long with the shop (hopefully) newly opened.

Instead, to dull the pain, ;) we booked a quick visit to DL May 10th through 13th and transfered our deposit from the med cruise to a Eastern Caribbean cruise in November.:thumbsup2

The DL trip includes wine stuff, so this will be work related as well for us. ::yes::

Tammy, perhaps you need a filler trip to dull the pain as well!:upsidedow

Karen

Good morning Karen.

It sounds like a lot of you are staying at the airport the night before or flying the red-eye. Is anyone planning on staying closer to the port where we might be able to have a dis-meet?

We may come in a couple of days early and use our DVC points. It is so far to fly that we just have a really hard time not spending a few days in Florida. Hmmm. Maybe Vero Beach. :thumbsup2

I am guessing that we will be staying with our points at WDW the night before. I am planning on us flying in Friday night - don't want Sophia to miss another day of school.

We're going to be in WDW the week before the cruise, also using points. We should meet up and maybe share a ride to the port.

We should be arriving on the Wednesday as I am already panicking about lost luggage!!:rotfl: Also, John won't let me go to DL at the end of the cruise:sad: , so I will have to have some Disney fix before! Probably will go on down to the port on the Saturday.

The only Disney Marathon we are training for is the breakfast buffet Marathon at Topsiders!

:rotfl2:

Me too!! First thing is getting the body weight down so I can build it again on the cruise!!

Lovely day today here, not hot or anything, just Spring like. I love the Arizona weather as I am not keen on high humidity!

Sorry you had to cancel your cruise Karen.

I think that DH is the most upset of the three of us. :worried:

He has never been to Europe and I have been to Spain (when I was 8) and Italy (I was 24) and he was truly looking forward to our going to France first and then to Spain and on the cruise.

I think that it would be better to go to Europe and see a specific country for a couple of weeks at a time and truly "drink" in that place, instead of trying to see so much in a short amount of time.

Europe is so diverse and there is so much history and archtecture; I think it would be better to enjoy one place at a time.;)

Planning the DL trip has made him happier, I think. He would travel every week if he could!! :goodvibes I am more of a home body!!:thumbsup2

I am feeling a bit under-the-weather, so I will be heading to bed early tonight, I may have picked up the flu that my DD had last week.

Hope you have a lovely day and enjoy your wonderful weather.

Karen

I do agree there is much to see in each European country. I suppose on a cruise you get a taster, just like we will on our Panama Canal cruise. We have had many French holidays as it is so easy, but have also been to Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Leichtenstein, Holland and some of the Spanish Islands, though not mainland Spain. Spain is a very popular British holiday destination for the sun and beaches. We have also been to Turkey. I would love to go to some Greek islands. We really love visiting the US though and have really only just scratched the surface.

Hope you feel better soon Karen. Take care.

Good Morning everyone!! 6am on the East Coast.....

I hate to rub it in, but it was 85 here today! My poor kids were sweating in their long pants...had to dig out the shorts for soccer practice!

Isn't our weather just gorgeous. My DD went to Oxnard Harbor today for a field trip on the tall ships. Lucky girl. I will pick her up at school tonight.

Good morning Karen.

Lovely day today here, not hot or anything, just Spring like. I love the Arizona weather as I am not keen on high humidity!

Hey if we can't brag about our great weather, can we complain about our high real estate prices??? :stir: :lmao:

For all of you who have lovely weather.....I am so jealous!! DC had minus 3 wind chill yesterday and we are supposed to get 4-8" of snow today.

John, looks like Ohio is getting this storm before us?

As for Real Estate prices......we have crappy weather and HIGH Real Estate prices....I don't think we are as bad as CA.....but most 1 bedroom Condo's in the suburbs are about $400,000. Go downtown and forget it. I KNOW my mom said this about me and my siblings when we were small....but I do not know how my children will make it........

Do you work at Wendy's?

Woody

No just my kitchen!! Still hurts a lot.

We are on the MED 7/24 (11 day) ... I will like seeing this part of the world with just a taste.....I am hoping that anywhere I love I will go back and visit someday!!

Had an envelope from DCL today with my invoice in and a postcard from Mickey!!! :mickeyjum After getting the wrong invoice a while back I thought we weren't going to get one. We are still GTY. The postcard is the same as someone posted some time ago with one of the ships in the background at Castaway Cay!!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo Mickey can't wait to see me!!!:rotfl:

so sorry to hear this Tammy :(

Mom 323, I saw on the discussion board that your birthday is the 23rd March. Mine too!:thumbsup2 Next year will be my 60th, so no thumbs up for that!!!

What a good day for a Birthday...its my daughter's birthday too!:)

Hope you feel better today.:grouphug:

No fair! Where's ours? :(:confused3

Marilyn, we still have bad weather here to day, very overcast and grey and still pretty windy...I could do with some of the Californian sunshine right now!:wave2:

It does keep clouding over, but then it clears and it is so lovely.

Been to my hula class today. Can change positions and movements(!) and now we are working towards some dance moves and moving the hoop up and down our bodies!:lmao: Oh yes I can just see that!!!:rotfl2: Our instructor can move the hoop up and hula it around her neck, then up her arm and hula it around her wrist!:crazy2: I'm really proud of what I have done so far though.

Aerobics/toning class tomorrow - well there is a lot of work to do on my body!!!

Maz, you put me to shame! good for you though!

I've just ahd a message from Becky (dd) to say she's on her way home as her Philosophy teacher is off sick today, so I don't suppose I'll get back on here much :(
Have a good day everyone:)

You are going to see some wonderful places. I have been to Rome and Pompeii - just absolutely amazing. Pompeii is so moving and so well preserved. I haven't yet been to Barcelona, but friends have and it sounds and looks lovely. Italy will be hot, particularly in a city like Rome, and drinks cost so much in Rome too! Marseille and the surrounding area especially is nice too.

You too Mandy. Enjoy your afternoon with Becky.

Been to my hula class today.

I had a hula exercise video (I think I loaned it to someone and haven't seen it since). It was one of the best workouts I've ever done. I really felt it afterwards.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
It's still such a long way off to make a decision, but I think we'll fly in the day before the cruise. I'd like to do one of the non-stop morning flights so we've got a chance to catch a later flight if there are any problems. Then we'll probably stay at a Disney resort... I'm leaning towards AKL. After the cruise we'll fly right home. 17 days without our furry children will be hard enough.

But now I'd love to go to Disneyland because I just saw the videos on YouTube about the new Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker attraction that is based on the same technology as Lucky the Dinosaur (but even better). I missed my chance to see Lucky the Dinosaur at WDW. And I'm a geek-ette so technology like that gets me very excited! Plus I've got an empathy thing for Beaker. In college I was a lab assistant for a PhD in the Psych department. MMMEEP, MMMEEP.

I am very sorry if I offended anyone. DH went to UC Berkely and I went to Stanford. USC is a big rival and know there by that unflattering name. I can just imagine what the call our alma maters!!

Mea culpa to all those who attended or had children attend USC. All of us in family have close friends who attended or are attending USC, including 9 out of the 60 of youngest DD's HS graduation class.

Woody

I tried but event was sold out!! Thanks for the link.

Very interesting....by the way, I did call Disney Dining today regarding our DIS Meet and I had to leave a message with the "Large Party" Coordinator (interesting). So hopefully he'll call me back. They may not be able to help me until March 20th because priority reservations can only be made 60 days before or less, but I figured I could see what they had to say, about our "large party". Update to follow..............

Fingers and toes crossed we can get priority ressies. You go girl!!

We are - planning on the Radisson. Maybe go to the Space Center on Friday.

If are planning on going to the KSC, you might want to check out the lunch with an astronaut program. GK's loved it. We prepurchased tickets online and just presented the email. One less thing to pay for on the cruise. Seems like when things are prepaid, feels like you are paying less somehow!!

Here is a discount KSC website that also has other attractions: http://www.greatorlandodiscounts.com/kennedyspacecenter.htm

Karen

Karen, what I meant is people in the past up until November have been able to ship wine and directly to the ship to be delivered to their rooms. Soccermomcheri posted that this policy was changed in November to the DCL warehouse not accepting liquids of any kind. Would you also be able to ship wine for us to our hotel?

I think that DH is the most upset of the three of us. :worried:

He has never been to Europe and I have been to Spain (when I was 8) and Italy (I was 24) and he was truly looking forward to our going to France first and then to Spain and on the cruise.

I am so sorry you had to cancel your cruise. It is always harder to plan time off when you have your own business.

I have to agree with you about how amazing it is to visit Pompeii. We spent a week in Rome during the summer and it was broiling!! The food in Italy is not to be missed!! Youngest DD speaks french so we have also spent some time in France.
