Just stopped in for a drive by posting only to find out that the Verandah Fam will not be sailing with us. As everyone else, this does make me sad. But as I thought about it more and considered your reasons, I realized that the reasons you are canceling is exactly why we all admire you so much. You are such a caring family man that it makes perfect sense that you would need to be with your family at that time. Absolutely, you must continue to post with us. Our thread wouldn't be the same without you.

As for me, I'm adjusting to a new job, new man, and an ill family member. Lots of different emotions going on right now. Once things settle down, I'll be back more often.

Miss you!

Have you tried a McDs in the south? GRITS are on their menu. Born and raised as a yankee, I was in serious shock on my first trip "south of the border".

Halibut McNuggets here (in season).

The McD's lobster roll in New England really bothers me.

$64,000 Dollar question?

What do you do when it 97 degrees at 4:30 in the afternoon in SoCal?

What you ask? Well, you play football in a mink like fur coat! :lmao:

This is what I found my girls doing upon returning from picking up DD14.

What can I say - I just  shook my head and brought out the camera - best 15 minutes of the day!

Playing dirty

Almost there

Got It!

NOTE: Playing dirty refers to Ms. Diva Dog (B&W) who absolutely refuses to go into the water unless its the ocean whereas Ghost Dog (no explanation needed) only goes into a pool and not the ocean - I guess we're not the only ones that hate sand getting everywhere! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Ok for those of you curious as to what I look like - I just downloaded my doggie pictures and realized I had a recent one of me - this was just taken on Saturday at a friend's BBQ - that is me on the left - I may look a little different as I was blonde highlighted in Sept '06 when I met some of you all.

What can I say - I like the dark side :darth: :rotfl2:

The other lady is a HS friend - almost 23 yrs later!

Anyone seen Spiderman 3? Do you have a kid recommendation? Just as a point of reference, they've seen Spiderman 1 & 2, but we decided that Batman Returns was too dark for them. I know this Spidey is supposed to be darker than the previous 2. I can't pre-screen it because I'm playing single mom for the next few weeks.

I did not really like the first two Spiderman movies and I am real comic book geek. I even have a few very early Spiderman comics in my collection. So, I probably will not go see Spiderman 3.

I am really wanting to see the next Fantastic Four with the Silver Surfer! :woohoo:

And I shall leave the community with these ...

7 questions to ponder....

regarding MOVIES![/CENTER]

1) :confused3 What is YOUR Favorite Movie? (Or ... one of your all time favorites?) WHY was it your favorite??? "Blazing Saddles" it was a very funny movie that still makes me laugh

2) :confused3 What was the last movie you saw? Would you pay to see it again? "Ghost Rider" yes!

3) :confused3 What was the WORST movie you saw? (or ONE of the worst ones you've seen) WHY was it one of the WORST movies? "Exorcist" it scared the H**L out of me!

4) :confused3 Do you plan on seeing any "new" movie(s) in the near future? If so - what is it? POTC3 and Fantastic Four 2

5) :confused3 And do you buy popcorn and possibly other snacks at the theater... or do you sneak something in from outside? Or do you have another angle on snacking in the theater??? Both

6) :confused3 Do you like to be among the first to see a "hot" and new movie... or do you just go after the crowds have faded? OR.... do you just wait for the DVD? We see very few movies and rarely go opening day

7) :confused3 What (if any) scenes from a movie do you recall as being of special interest or recollection to you? The reasoning can be of ANY sort. Related commentary is invited here. In "Blazing Saddles" the Governor (Mel Brooks) says this line: "We have to do something to keep our phoney baloney jobs!" I use that line all of the time. :lmao:

OK... this is what happens when I get really sleepy and can't think of a more practical theme for the 7 question thing! Perhaps we'll get a few chuckles or fond reminescences from some of your replies, eh?

Good questions! :thumbsup2

I'm very sorry to hear this, Andy -- I hope 2008 brings something else that you will enjoy . . . my best to you and I'm sorry I won't be meeting you!

Julie and Monica we have missed you! It sounds as if you have both been dealing with illness in your families. I hope things get better for both of your family members soon!! Take care and post whenever you can to let us know how you are doing.

Hi Johnna, Peter, Julie & Monica!!! So good to see you guys and hope you're all doing well. And Monica if a new man is keeping you away, well......that can't be all bad now can it???? Is he a keeper??

Tina I saw you ask about Access America it's the Family Basics Plan that you'd be interested in. It's under the first tab (our products I think) Anyway, kids under 18 are FREE!!!!

Why Laura you are GORGEOUS!! So now when we spend way too many hours in chat together on Friday nights...I'll have mental image of you! Thanks for posting that. Also I love those pics of your adorable doggies! Made me laugh!

What a sweet thing to say there buddy. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

If y'all will have me, I'd still like to be a part of this thread. I feel as though I made many new friends here, and even if we can't sail together, I'd still like that friendship to remain, and live this adventure through all of you. ;)

Andy, I just don't have any words to say here. :( I am glad to hear that you will still be around to chat with for the next couple years. You will be with us on the TOAL in spirit. :goodvibes

We have frost warnings posted tonight - it's supposed to get down to 31:scared1:! But later this week we are supposed to have highs in the 80's:scared1:! Way to early for that kind of weather here - I can distinctly remember when wearing shorts on Memorial Day was unusual.

Here in NC it is customary to be at the beach that weekend. Not so sure that will happen this year. It has gone from being in the 90s last week to the 40s this week. UGH!!!

Had a wonderful time at DL yesterday. It was a beautiful but warm day. Heard this morning on the news that it was 92F in Anaheim yesterday. They are now opening the park up at 8am on the weekends now which means we have to leave home at 6:30am to try to make it for rope drop. Well we almost made it, but I would say that everybody else slept in yesterday so we had the park to ourselves for a few hours. We utilized our fastpasses so that we got to go on Buzz X3, BTM, Autopia, POTC, SW, Tea cups, Alice in Wonderland, Gadget Gocoaster all before lunch. Went over to CA (Calif. Adventure) after lunch and did a few rides. Did have a celebrity siting there at Pacific Pier game section. Snoop Dog, well I personally am not much of a Snoop Dog fan but DD and I noticed a large group of people all taking pictures of this gentleman throwing softballs a milk jars. Mr. Dog was there with his family, but seemed to be putting a show for the crowd. I wonder how he made it through the security check point. :rotfl2: Ended our day with a great meal at Story Tellers Cafe at the California Grand Hotel. By the way they had 2 kinds of :cake:. Everyone was tired by the time we left for home around 8pm.

At 4am this morning we recieved a call from the hospital informing us that my Father had died. :scared1:

He would have been 87 on the 16th of this month. We're just thankful it wasn't a long drawn out ordeal for him.

I am so sorry to hear your father passed away. He must have felt very comforted to have some one like you to be with him.:grouphug: :grouphug:
