Yep look in the young kids bedding section. The princess pillowcase is pink. On one side is just Cinderella and on the other side is Cindy, Aurora and Belle. They also have Dora, Bratz, Ariel and Tink. I looked at the Tink and I think it will be to big to use on a bodice. It is really cute though!

I go away for a few days and the posts start rolling in. I think I had 20 pages worth of reading to catch up on!!!!!!!!! Everything looks GREAT and AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too bought the Cinderella, Ariel & Tinkerbell pillowcases and can't wait to make some outfits with them!

Here's a thought....use this guy & have a DISner from the boards (I like Amy M_I_C_K_E_Y's designs) create a deseign with the quote "Anyone can cook!"-Chef Gusteau....

Use that as your transfer for the aprons. Depending on how many guests are coming, Oriental Trading has the best prices on aprons (I think). If you don't need a lot of aprons I'd get them from Hobby Lobby store (they go on sale a lot).

My kids love to cook & play chef. Over the summer break we learned a lot of new recipes from PBS Sprouts show. We had aprons from Hobby Lobby, but they needed chef hats. I didn't have time to make them from a pattern...so I whipped these up for our bake-a-thon with cousins......
Xmas-07162.jpg

They were inspired by UtahMama's "dew bonnet"/trash bag hat photo in her TR. I made the base with white foam & cut a tall kitchen bag down for the top. I had them wear these for a very short time & under constant supervision. I would not recomend using plastic bags for anything with kids otherwise.

Kids look like they are having a great time being "Chef's". can't wait for party time now!! I never thought to look at Amy's site, she's done some stuff for me before. Didn't think to look at Oriental trading either. I usually get alot of stuff from them to.

Has anyone done any little einsteins outfits lately?

I haven't made any with the Little Einsteins fabric, but I did an applique one for our trip on November.

I lost a ton of quotes so I don't even remember who all I was going to compliment. :goodvibes

I love the Barbie house. That's so something I would do. I have well over 100 Barbie in boxes that I rotate on display & a bunch that I 'played' with before dd's were born. I made them clothes & set up scenes. I even re-painted the faces on a few.

I wonder if I got the right one?!?!

The pillowcase I bought had Cindy on one side, and Belle on the other!

OH it is ..... Almost done!....

I have to admit it looks really pretty!...

Just a few finishing touches...

And I should be able to post the finished design.

Hopefully I will be able to post a photo of it tonight sometime!

That is..... if you all are interested!;)

Thanks everyone for your kind comments! :goodvibes
We had a great day.....we all went to see Enchanted today....it was better than I expected and we all really enjoyed it! Every outfit she put on, we kept saying...now I have to sew this...or I want that one mommy....:rotfl:
Then we went out for DD's birthday dinner....yummy! Tomorrow we are having her Spongebob cake and presents! (Did you hear that Spongy???!!)

Whoo hoo! We went to costco and I got the new brother machine today. I totally do not need it but what the heck. I have an old brother from walmart that I never touch and the big disney embroidery/sewing machine which is a dream, but now I have one that I can easily take with me wherever I go! I am so excited!

You are gonna LOVE that machine! Woo hoo for you!

I know what you mean! It is too hard to find things and everything is done through email! It is really WAY more difficult than it should be! However, I like that they all have futuras so they are really helpful when you have a question!

I went back over there to figure out if I could find an answer. I gave up. It's too much. I really need to make an effort to keep up with it daily. That's the only way I can keep up with yahoo. I did see that Nana said alligator clips. ALSO, I went to sewforum and saw that several had suggested the big multi prong hair clips. That's what I got while I was out. They seem to be working pretty well.

I wonder if I got the right one?!?!

Have you tried doing towels yet? I am trying to figure out how to put it in the hoop with stabilizer. It is really just too thick I think! If any one can explain how to do this, I would appreciate it!

I haven't tried towels yet. My guess is sticky stabilizer. But I don't know for sure. I JUST completed my first project that is actually wearable! I made my 11 yo DS a CUSTOM! I embroidered a gold Chinese dragon on a red polo shirt for him to wear when we go to the Chinese New Year's show on Monday. I'M GIDDY! It looks so cool! My DH wants one now. I love it! It's not often that an 11 year old boy will actually wear something you make for him! I'm thrilled!

The best way to embroider any towel is to hoop sticky back stabilizer paper side up, once it is in the hoop score the paper a bit to take of the paper on the part inside the hoop exposing the "sticky" side. Stick the section you want to embroider on to the sticky side (wrong side of the towelto the sticky side) put the hoop on the machine. Then put a water soluable topping on the towel (pin this on in the corners away from where the needle will hit) This keeps the little toweling loops from poking out of the embroidery. Easy shameezey...Nana

Ok, Nana, here's another question for you. Do you use a basting stitch on most of your designs? I did that with this shirt, and it seemed to help. Maybe it's in my head?

Oh, I am so envious of those with embroidery machines. I would love to have one but there's no way it's in the budget for quite awhile.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments! :goodvibes

Zoe and I saw that last week and loved it! I wasn't too optimistic so that probably helped but I was actually LOL for some parts... like the helpful rats, pigeons and rats. :lmao: I was cringing at the same time, though. ;)

I don't know why my camera is taking wonky picures.

The color of the roses I made match almost exactly to the fabric I used, but it doesn't photograph well.

Anyway, here it is.

b002.jpg

I still have a peasant top to make, and possibly a pair of embelished jeans to go with this. But otherwise I think it turned out pretty Belle like!

Off to start and finish the other 4 projects that I NEED to get done this weekend!

Thank you. I think that I might redo the roses in the striped fabric. For some reason, to the eye, the colors match, but in different light, it doesn't.
From my past in the paint and wallpaper business, we called the term "metamorism". I guess I should have checked the colors in different light before I grabbed the dot out of my "stash" and went with it!.
Oh well... easily fixed!

Okay, since I like to do things the easiest way possible for most if not all stitch-outs I use iron on stablizers. I use Deco Bond which is a cutaway (available by the yard at Joann's) I iron a piece on the wrong side of the item and make the piece large enough to fit the hoop with some over-hang. I iron it on enough to make sure the item is not going to shift and therefore not be stable. Then hoop it . After I have aligned the design where I want it I then put a tear-away piece of stablizer between the hoop and the base of the machine basically under the hoop this is considered a "floater". The tear away I use is available by the yard at Joann's and it looks like it is perforated. It is EXTREMELY important to make sure that all knits like polos and tee shirt fabrics are stablized or the outlines and details of the design will not stitchout properly and will be "off". For woven fabrics I will still use an iron on cut-away but it can be of a lighter weight as wovens are more stable.

Hey, keep the questions coming I love to share!!! Nana
