DDA Chapter 12

We were up and running this morning. We went to camp at 9 am and fell, limbed and cut enough trees for about 3-4 cord of wood. That is over half of what we needed to accomplish before snowfall. Mind you we are cutting next years wood and this is for my parents. The boys were strongly encouraged ;) to help today and they did better than I expected. I feel that it is really important to teach them good work ethics now not to mention the importance of helping family. My parents were very happy to have us all helping. Of course we have an old beater truck there so the kids are being taught to drive it. It's a standard so the experience is priceless and there isn't anything that they could possible hurt (if you saw the truck you'd know what I mean). Nick and Hunter can do it by themselves (with close adult supervison) and Colby sits on Chris' lap.

Now I need to go pick up some groceries or the kids won't have lunch this week.

That sounds like a great family, fall day!

It reminds me of car rentals. I could book 4 midsize cars for the price of one van :confused3

yikes,
my brother is not sure he wants to fly. He says he is driving. SO we will have his vehicle their and we are going to rent one. Just need to figure out who is the best one to rent from.

Has anybody ever tried to name their own price for airline tickets on Princeline? The biggest pitfall I can see is that DS and I might end up flying out of Dallas really late and essentially lose our first day. So I would almost have to bid to fly out on Thursday and spend one night at Pop before DH arrives Friday AM. Coming home I am sure we would get stuck with the dark o'clock AM flight, but if we can get it dirt cheap it might be worth it. What do you all think? If I do it the tickets we end up with are absolute - no changes, no cancellation, no transfers, no nothing.

I have a good friend who, along with her husband, uses priceline for everything. They've gotten some great deals...

To be honest, though, the planner in me can't handle it -- and I think you might be a bit more.... controlling? (Regarding your travel plans only, of course, and I mean it entirely as a compliment! :thumbsup2 ) I would worry that it would be the airline, airport, time, connections, etc (or hotel location, room type, etc) that I'm not happy about. And the fact that it can't change AT ALL makes me even more crazy.

Needless to say, we've never used it for anything except car rentals, where we have very little preference anyway.

SO I am planning on making the hour drive on Friday to the closest Disney store for Disney dollars for the girls and Jeff's stockings. How old were your kiddos when they started loosing teeth? We have no loose ones here. Just wondering If I should pick up some extra Disney dollars to have on hand.

Jennifer - I am glad you enjoyed the TR but sorry it made you homesick!

Deb - It sounds like you all had a great day in the woods!

Jennifer - You are having fun already planning your next trip. :)

Well, I don't think they can change airports on me. You select those as part of the bid process. And they guarantee no more than one connection unless you agree to more than one (which I would not). Airline and times would be complete wild cards. They do also guarantee no more than a 3 hour layover for a connecting flight, and they guarantee no "red-eye" flights. The question there would be if we take off at 10 PM and have a 3 hour layover would that then becaome a red-eye, meaning it wouldn't happen? Maybe I need to do some more research. My plan would be to put in a REALLY low price, so if we got a flight it would be worth whatever headaches came with it!

DS was about 5.5, but he had teeth before he turned 6 mos. old. The earlier they get teeth, the sooner they fall out.

my baby girl has been taking a bunch of steps today.:sad1: I don't want her to grow up yet.

Time for the 3rd one!

Elizabeth - we have some similar personality types... we are both "judgers" and I just cannot see you relinqiushing control of those flights! No matter how much money you save! I know I couldn't. :sad2:

Thanks for the compliment, Janet!

:yay: for a new sink and things getting back to normal for you all.

Tammi and I are talking about dinner Saturday night, not certain why you are asking about next October! Did we say something misleading? Possibly!

Thanks for the link again and the heads up on the new photos. Too cute!

If things continue as they appear to be I would want a 3 hour layover! We had one hour and it almost wasn't enough!

Time for the 3rd one!

You know, if you make the price low enough and get it, you are right -- it would be worth it! And if you don't a ridiculously low price, then you have more control of the reservation! I think that sounds like a decent plan!

Nope just me being confused as always ;)

Tammi made a comment about stowing away in your luggage, next time. Maybe that is what did it.
