I went to Nashville today to go to the Disney Outlet in Opry Mills and was SHOCKED to find it closed after Christmas. And then I learn the one at the Galleria closed in February. I have been so upset LOL since learning this today.

And like I said, I'm sure this has all been discussed here and I just missed it, but why in the world is Disney still closing the stores? Anyone?

Good question! There used to be several in the Denver area and now I can only find one way across town. :-(

Yeah, we had one too in the Ky Oak Mall in Paducah but it didn't last long and went out years ago! :sad2:

I know they did a sweep a couple of years ago and closed a bunch, but I thought the ones that were left would stay. I guess not!

I just took these Friday. I thought this store had made it through the storm. :(

I was just at that mall maybeeeee 2 weeks or so prior to it, and everything was the same. Then *POOF* it was gone. :sad2:

Well this is just frustrating ;) I guess we weren't the only ones hit.

Honestly though, I loved having that store so close to me and am bummed about the closings.

We went to Myrtle Beach this weekend and was just there in Oct but the Disney store at Broadway at the Beach had closed...I swear it was there in Oct...maybe I was dreaming..

It's not just the Disney stores that are closing. Last December when we went to NYC we went to the World of Disney store in Manhattan only to find they were closing the store three days later. We got some really good bargains that day then found out the store closed the day after we visited (two days before it was due to close for good). The difference between World of Disney and Disney store is that WOD carried park merchandise. I couldn't believe they had to close the Manhattan WOD branch.

Ours is still open. Passed by there earlier this week and told the kids to go in so we could say we "went to Disney" on spring break! This is in the Kansas City area...Oak Park Mall.

I have heard and read somewhere, that they are closing the stores and will be reopening some of them, but they will be more interactive. Therefore it will give you more of a Disney atmosphere and will be more than just a store. However, my question is when will this happen. I need my stores back. Interesting how the OP talked about the Nashville stores, because that's where I am. With the Disney Stores gone, the only place to buy toys is not in the malls, but instead at Toys R Us. So I'm hoping that the stores will come back soon.

There is only one now in the Nashville area in the Rivergate Mall. There used to be five.

I know that the Disney store was owned by Disney, then it was bought out by The Children's Place. I know last year, (or maybe the year before) Disney bought The Disney Store back. I remember someone who worked for the Disney store telling me it sucked cause they lost all their Disney discounts. Maybe Disney just kept their most profitable stores? Both malls I frequent have a Disney store, both are always packed! I never not had to wait in line in either store. I normally avoid them like the plauge because it is one of the three stores at the mall my daughter has a meltdown when when leave. The other two are build a bear, and pottery barn kids. I do like buying my daughter's gifts there, and would be sad if they took them out of my malls.

I went today to ours at concord mills in concord nc!!! I went to pick up my Princess and the Frog DVD:) I hope it doesn't go out of business i would be so so so so sad!!!

I LOVE Concord Mills! I worked there in High School - back when they didn't even have a Disney Store.

Hello, fellow NC'er :thumbsup2

Disney is opening a huge new interactive store in New York city later this year.

I've never been a big fan of the regular Disney stores,I prefer the outlets like Character Warehouse in the Orlando Premium or Prime outlets or the ones at Dolphin Mall or Sawgrass Mills in south Florida that carry actual park merchandise.

We are loosing the one closest to us here in Albuquerque and we are so bummed. They say they are leaving the one across town open, but it's quite aways away. :(

P.S. dsnydrmn I LOVE the one in the Oak Park Mall . . . well actually I love that entire mall! My sister lives close to it (Olathe) and I always make her take me shopping there. LOL

We still have ours and it still caters to small kids and girls. I have little reason to ever go.

I had received an email back in Jan. about the closing of the Yorktown mall store and it included a coupon for the on-line store and a coupon for the Disney store at Oakbrook Center.
