Ahh thankyou very kind so late in the day , you are on my defo list for gifts lol !!! Will just HAVE to book another DLC then i might just get round to doing it all!!!:cheer2:
Stateroom 5509!!!
Can i ask what sort of things you put on your door ( i know they have to be magnetic)!!!

Hi Charlotte, welcome!
I just printed Viking Mickey ears on magnetic paper, I'm so excited. If you go to Jeff's link for our cruise, click on the "links" tab and scroll down, there's a place to click on magnetic door decorations. I wasn't sure my old printer would accept the magnetic paper, but after a few tries it did.

Hi Jeff,
We are on a 5:35pm Delta flight direct into Barcelona. We are staying at the AC Diplomatic. If you get a chance to answer a quick question, can you tell me how people pay for excursions? Is it cash that day to the driver or can we use credit cards?
Thanks for putting up our names. We are in room 2519 and we are in our (40's) and from Flemington NJ.
Thanks,
Karen

Got it Karen. moneyhappy answered your question about the tours. You can prebook the Disney Cruise Line tours online at their website. The private tours are almost always cash only, or Euro traveler's checks. How it's settled up depends on who's pulling the tour together. For mine, I prefer that everyone takes care of their own piece of it separately. What we did in 2007 was collect the money on the drive back to the port and then paid the driver/guide upon port arrival. Of course, it could be done beforehand on the ship too but I didn't like having all our money in one pocket.

YAAAAA yes pls ill have a lanyard............umm what are they lol but defo want one for all of us heheh (let me know if i need to pay you) No worries about the meets i miss (wine tasting and palo) Am just so so happy i havent missed out on everything!!! You guys are FAB ( Sorry am just sooo looking forward to it all and this board makes it soo special) x:love:

Here's what they look like except our lanyards won't have the white writing on them and the badge cards will have our cruise date on them. Our badge card can be seen on the "DIS Meets" tab on our cruise website.

Hello!! I would like to join in on the fun if thats okay! This will be our first Disney Cruise and we are extremely excited. Family consists of myself, hubby, daughter (3yrs), son (2yrs old), Grandmom, Grandpop, and Sister. Can I add our name to the DIY Rome Group? I like the safety in numbers thought process because we are directionally challenged family!

Welcome to the thread jxt203! :welcome: :disrocks:

By all means, join right in. Travelbee is coordinating the Rome DIY and I expect she'll be along sometime and read your post. :thumbsup2

Ok, now this is getting serious. Have had Hound Dog Hotel reservations for a couple of months now, everything else is going to occur when I get off the road Monday. I did sneak in an office day this Friday so I can get to the Bank for some Euro, feel pretty good about recent exchange rates. After Staff meeting on Monday, they are on their own, I will be crossing off my travel list items Tuesday and Wednesday. Saturday had to schedule a meeting with the girls to finalize all travel plans including packing plans. The good news is we will do this on the deck at Bayside over lunch.

Next Thursday everyone just better get out of my way - headed to Barcelona and no excuses.

A little wrinkle for me....we are having a work outing to the Rockies baseball game next week. Was supposed to be Monday but my boss neglected to tell me he changed it to Tuesday! Now I have to rebook my spray tan appointment or just blind you with my pastiness. :scared:

Welcome aboard to both of you :welcome:

There are two links on the "Links" tab on the web site. One is "Disney Cruise Door Magnets and Graphics" and the other is "Make Your Stateroom Mickey Ears Here".

On the Mickey Ears, I printed out the Donald one for our door and the Graduate Mickey for my son and daughter's door. The key is to go through every printer menu and make sure it's printing at 100%, i.e., no scaling. If it's not printed at 100% it won't fit the 7 in diameter room number circle.

I found it helpful to draw a circle of 7inch diameter (usng a pair of compasses like you use as a kid at school) on a bit of paper and then checking my printed ears line up ok. - just in case the printer warped them despite my best checks. :rotfl:

Has everyone else done their online check in?

I've been trying to do mine this evening and it keeps throwing me out of my reservation when i try to give them my credit card for KTTW charging. It lest me do everything else like flight details and emergency contact no.

I can't believe they don't want to take my money. :lmao:

I did mine last week with no issues. Hopefully it works for you soon. I can't imagine Disney not taking your money either. ;)

Thought I would share a hint that someone who sailed in 2007 told me. The gift shop on board will have port specific merchandise for sale throughout the cruise. They said it was nice to find things that they wished that would have bought but thought that they had missed out on.

We did ours some time ago, no problems.

Jill, thanks for the information :thumbsup2

Hello All - and welcome to everyone new to our Med thread... I am finally getting the luggage out and thinking about what to put in it... one suitcase per person.. so we are down dressing, and not feeling guilty at all.. since the price would be to much to spend on extra luggage, so there you are.. and of course with Delta 50 lbs max per case or you pay again. We are flying in on Saturday morning I hope all goes well or we won't sail if, just can't get the extra time to fly in any earlier. Can't wait to see everyone..:)

We did our check in several weeks ago and did not have any problems.
Remember make your check list... and follow it.. you know the drill-
mail- paper - alarm company- credit card co.- sea sick pills and so on.

Charlotte I have sent you a PM.

Wow!!! That is amazing! We will be seeing so many DIS lanyards - I can't wait!

Tripodjw- I remember back when this thread was so quiet and it was you, our group, and a few others. Like you, we booked this cruise WAY back in March 2009 and May 15, 2010 seemed so far away. I can't believe it's almost here!! :cool1: and I'm so happy we've had so many great people join us along the way!! It will be so fun to meet everyone after reading posts on this board for over a year. Our phone conversations often go along the lines of "Did you see what tripodjw/jeffspencer/rashdecision/sayhello/Sarahgirl/travelbee/jedijll etc posted on the dis today?!":rotfl2: if anyone were to overhear our conversations they'd think "who ARE these people?!?" You have ALL become part of our daily conversations and I can't wait to get on that ship!!:grouphug:

Question: How do you get to Cinque Terre from port?

Trying to decide to go there on our own or DCL Florence on your own..sny advice?

You can take the train from La Spezia to any of the towns in the Cinque Terre or you can take a ferry.

Florence is a long way away and to me it will be hard to appreciate it in a few hours. I spent 3 days there in 2007 so I am going to Cinque Terre. But you should see Florence sometime before you die. :) It is absolutely amazing.

moneyhappy's response is for the cruise terminal. I read that you were asking for which airport terminal DCL would pick you up from. There are 4 terminals: 1, 2A, 2B and 2C. From what was posted, it sounds like Disney will pick people up from whatever terminal you arrived. So, if your flight came in at Terminal 2B, you need to go back to Terminal 2B to catch the Disney transfer.

Thanks for putting me straight Jeff.

Thank you to all you wonderfully knowledgable people for this great site and all the info , Just wanted to say Hi im Charlotte(32) from the Kent in the uk i am travelling with my hubby Rob (33) and my disney princess mad d/d Piper 4 and captain cook lovin ds Leyton 2!!! Hello welcome to our group. :welcome: We are all friendly, if there is anything you want to ask.

Question: How do you get to Cinque Terre from port?

The ferry sounds like a good way. You can read the latest blog entry from Flight of the Phoenix blog from a family that did it on the 4/24 cruise. Link is on Jeff's web page that he did for us. That sounded like a good day.

Good lord, folks! I'm away from my desk for half a day, and there's 5 pages of posts!!!!

Jeff, be glad you have left the Opryland Hotel already. They moved people from the hotel Sunday night to a high school where they slept on floors and chairs because the hotel rooms around Nashville were booked. The hotel is now closed for the foreseeable future due to the flooding inside and around the hotel. I-40 finally reopened today - at one point, all 3 interstates in town were closed at one point.
That's just scary, scary! I hope everyone is OK!

What hotel are you staying at? Maybe we can meet you their and go as a group.
As folks mentioned, I *am* staying at the Eurostars Grand Marina. I'd love to meet up & go as a group. Do we want to set a time to meet in the lobby or something?

Someone had posted earlier that DCL will exchange US currency for Euros on the ship. Anyone know if they are gouging us on the exchange rate? Is there any dollar limit to how much we can exchange? We have some private tours lined up that require payment is cash--Euros, so an ATM or credit card will not work.
Here's what DCL told me: They will exchange US $ or travellers checks in US $ for euros. Other countries' currency can be exchanged as well. No limit. It cannot be put on your ship account, it must be cash or traveller's checks. You can also cash a personal check for up to $100 per voyage. They'll cash it then convert it to euros if you want.

A little wrinkle for me....we are having a work outing to the Rockies baseball game next week. Was supposed to be Monday but my boss neglected to tell me he changed it to Tuesday! Now I have to rebook my spray tan appointment or just blind you with my pastiness. :scared:
What's a Rockies? :confused3 And honestly? I couldn't care less if you're pasty or not. You'll blend with me then.

Did mine about a week & a half ago. No problems. I would think them taking your money would be the first thing to work!!!!

I'm starting to get a little nervous. I have to make a serious list here. I'm afraid of forgetting something... Oh, well. This is vacation, right? My entire carryon will be filled with prescriptions and cords for my electronics. I won't have any room for anything else, anyways!

2 weeks from now, I'll be settling in for the night after a day in Tunisia, thinking about my trip to Capri the next morning... :cheer2:
