Its 6 weeks today until we fly out to start our holiday:) We are flying BA to Barcelona so that gives them plenty of time to sort themselves out with their strikes and be back in business in time for our arrival :woohoo: We haven't heard much about it here in Australia but if things get worse could someone kindly post and let us know?

Paula

Paula, at the moment British Airways are probably not going to be striking.

BAA the British Airport Authority however are ballotting for strikes and this would effect Heathrow, Stansted and a few other airports (not Gatwick). These do things like the baggage etc at the airport!

I am glad that this has worked out for you. It is kind of strange so that they expect you to ring them for a schedule change. We ring our customers when we have a schedule change and give them their options. We then make whatever changes necessary or process a refund. We most certainly don't expect the customers to ring us for an inconvenience that we have caused.

Corinna

Yeah I know! I don't know what happened but they only emailed me and I don't rememeber the email saying contact them. They claim I was meant to phone up to confirm that the change was OK?? Very odd to me!

I think Dan and Graham will get on. Graham was very pleased when I told him that the ride was down while we are in Florida.

Corinna

LOL they probably will then! In 08 I told him it was a fantastic ride so he went on it with me and almost pushed me over board! He couldn't believe it was so so bad!

Ditto!
Paula, we are also flying with BA from London Heathrow to Barcelona, Qantas to London. What dates are you flying, we could be on the same flight? :upsidedow

Maybe, that would be great:) We leave Heathrow on the Friday at 11:20am or similar - I think the departure time has changed a few times.

Thanks Sarah, that makes me feel much better:thumbsup2

Why are you flying to Rochester for labor day? We will miss you as we are flying down to Orlando the Thursday night before Labor Day to stay at WDW for 4 days before heading to Barcelona to start our Med cruise and then the WBTA.

I don't have an iPhone or an iPad. Oddly...for computer stuff I'm typically an apple guy----Longtime Macbook user and had an iMac (a pretty orange one to go with all my tigger stuff :tigger:) before that.....but alas...I'm a Verizon customer and I absolutely LOVE being with Verizon (I almost never am without signal....I was recently at a retreat weekend at a lodge/resort on a mountain near San Francisco with a bunch of my westcoast friends and colleagues who ALL had their fancy iphones and I was the ONLY person with any signal so I was the only person who could make or receive phone calls and texts :lmao:------plus all my cheerleaders and their families are verizon customers so the free in-network calling feature is a big bonus), so an iPhone is out of the question for me. I did just recently get the new droid/htc incredible smart phone though...which is, for all intents and purposes, verizon's version of the iphone....and I love it. I actually just downloaded the Kindle app for it and bought several books to read onboard, as well...so you will see me with my phone onboard the ship a lot....but I'll be using it to read books & maybe use the internet occasionally. (I have 5 books in it...so I'd rather pack the phone and charger than the 5 hard cover books :thumbsup2)

Yes, that's exactly right.....by booking "dummy dates" you just pick an itinerary you MIGHT want (but aren't 100% committed to) or you just pick any random itinerary (perhaps based on what has the cheapest booking deposit at that moment if there's a deal) for a ways out in the future. Then once you know more solidly what your plans are, you just cancel switch the reservation----effectively cancelling the one you made and booking the one you want. The benefit is that you typically get to keep your OBC and can often times carry over the onboard booking discount.

For example, when Jason and I were on the Double Dip cruise in the fall of 2008 (where we met many of our fabulous fellow cruisers on this thread----like BuckeyeGal, MagicMe, Disneygirl02, etc.), we all knew through the rumor mill that the Magic was going back to the Med in 2010 even though the dates and itineraries hadn't been announced...and we knew that meant TransAtlantic cruises, too....so Jason and I just booked two back to back cruises for December 2009 that we never had any intention of taking (they were literally like the last available dates at that point I think) and then once they announced the Med dates and the TA trips, we had our travel agent call the morning bookings opened and move our reservations from those Dec. trips to our current B2B trips. It worked out well for us-----the only issue was/is that if the cruise you are switching TO has a higher deposit (the Med and TA cruises had higher deposits than the Caribbean cruises we'd originally booked) then you have to pay the difference....but we were able to keep all our other onboard credits, etc.

Plus....we love having dummy dates not only for the $$$ reason but because that way when you get off the ship, you're doing so with the assurance that another DCL trip is in your future....which is kind of a small light at the end of the tunnel!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Because disembarkation is always a depressing day (I usually quite literally cry the last night of the trip and am usually in the saddest, foulest, *****iest mood the morning we have to get off the ship----because it's always so early :headache: and we cuz we're leaving-----that I need that little pick-me-up of "well, at least we're coming back" to make it through the long drive back to the airport, etc. :lmao::lmao:

:rotfl2: Poor Erik! That is just what I was like leaving the Wonder. I think I was sulking more than the kids! I was the same the last time we left the Magic Kingdom and watching the castle fade away in the distance......

Paula

Really??? Dan's gonna be way too happy about this! Was hoping to drag him along!

I can usually drag John on there once every couple of years. He hates it!!!!! To be honest I'm not bothered about it, I just nag him about going on it to annoy him!!!!:lmao:

Im like you! I like winding Dan up by suggesting we go on it! He will be thrilled!

...sorry everyone, now back to your usual talk of underwear spanx and clothing optional beaches :rotfl2:

Yikes!!! :scared1: What kinda cruise is this??? So, we're wearing Spanx (the nude option presumably..?) on clothing optional beaches..? :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

You could just not tell him and have the fun. Shame to spoil that!!!:rotfl2:

Yes, Spanx are almost obligatory!!!!! You also missed the eye patch discussion!!!;) Nothing is sacred on here.:lmao:

Karen, are you staying long after the cruise?

No Marilyn - going straight to the airport and heading home later that day. Not sad tho' as I am still coming back with the family on October 17th for 10 days but this is more of a therapeutic intervention... ;)

That is great, and makes getting off the ship and heading home so much easier. I think you will have a very therapeutic time on this cruise!!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: We will just miss you when you get back to Orlando. We leave there on the 17th to go to Miami for 3 nights before flying home from there.

Welcome! I re-newed my vows at Castaway Cay and My Dsis is doing hers on board the ship for this cruise. If you have any questions we will be happy to answer them. All I can tell you is that the wedding was better than my first and it was awesome as was the cake and all that DCL did for us on the cruise. I highly reccommned it!
How do you go about renewing your vows, either on the ship or on Castaway Cay?

I will PM you the details either later tonight or first thing tomorrow. In the meantime, there is a trip report of our great adventure of getting to the Magic by land and sea in the first few posts of my trip report "Magical Mystery Tour" that is linked in my signature.

Corinna
Reading you Tour after this post. Thanks.

I think Dan and Graham will get on. Graham was very pleased when I told him that the ride was down while we are in Florida.

Corinna
I think I need to meet up with Dan and Graham. I'm rather happy that Small World will be closed when we get there as well.

Ok, So I hope that I'm doing this right! I am VERY new to the DISboards, meaning I just stumbled upon them two days ago! So please bear with me as I get used to this whole thing!

I was so pleased to see that there are going to be so many fun ppl on this trip! As you can see by my signature, I am somewhat green to Disney, at least when it comes to the likes of some of you!! (I'm impressed and somewhat jealous of all your fabulous vacations!)

Myself and my boyfriend LOVE Disney and are wanting to make Disney a part of our vacation plan every year!! We live in CA, which is why most of our trips have been to DL (still getting used to all the abbreviations) so many times...well so many times in the short time we have been together. We have been dating about 2 1/2 years, are madly in love and pretty much booked this trip at the very begining of our relationship! Kinda risky, but we knew we were going to be together! We would love to get marreid abourd a disney ship(we actually met on a cruise ship, so cruises are special to us) So hopefully that dream will come true some day!

We just can't believe that the trip is almost here! We are SOOO excited it takes up most of our conversations!

We will be traveling with his parents on this trip, and ALL four of us are sharing a room(should be interesting, lol). We origanally planned to have his sister, her husband and there two children along with us....until she found out she was pregnant. And it turned out that she didn't meet DCL restrictions for pregnant women (24 weeks) by FOUR DAYS...so they ended up booking a med. cruise that leaves next week, she is well within the "safe zone" for that trip. So it will just be the four of us...together...for a total of 21 days straight...bonding... :)

We are headed to Barcelona 5 days early to see as much as we possibly can, and then when back in Florida we are going for ONE DAY to Disneyworld...I have never been, and we are still deciding on which land to go to, so any suggestions would be great!

Long story long, I am so happy to have found y'all and I hope its not too late to sign up for some of the fun stuff you guys are doing...and if it is, well, we can still have a coctail on the ship!

Cheers!!:drinking1

Welcome to the group. My suggestion for people who have a limited time at Disney World but have been to Disneyland is to visit the Animal Kingdom. I believe that it is the most different of the parks. Also it is small enough that you could skim the highlights and then go on over to Epcot which is my second choice. One LONG day and you can experience so much of both.

Of course, it really depends on what you are interested in. If you are a huge movie buff maybe Hollywood Studios is best for you. Again, a small park so you could conceivably get in some of Epcot on the same day.

I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the parks, but it seems like, if you have been to Disneyland numerous times, the Magic Kingdom would be your last choice.

when do we start posting on part 8? I see that it's open. Do we wait until we can't post here anymore?

This is a weird question, but does anyone know if I can Pampers diapers in Barcelona? Just trying to decide if I should bring them with me or use the diaper service onboard. Although, it's going to be $140 if I use the onboard service. So, pretty expensive!

Thanks!

Check out babies travel lite withOUT DCL... I have read on the main board thathte pricing is better, and you get the same service.

Stats are on the main web page - www.transatlanticpirates.com We don't have the kids broken out - but the FE groups have all the kids participating broken out. Glenn can pull stats as well...
Glenn, there she goes again, volunteering you for more stuff, lol......:rotfl:

Well, at least on this one I volunteered to do it a long time ago. Since all the data is in the database, all I need to do is ask it a question. Last night I wrote the script that collects the info below, but since it queries the database each time someone views the site, it is automatically updated with the latest stats. As soon as a person joins, their info is included in all the stats.
