Happy Birthday Neil!

I'm sorry to hear of all the frustrations with in laws... or as Damian says... Monster in law.....lol Just keep telling yourself... a couple more weeks and nothing will matter but keeping the FAB glass full!

It's fine to put our names and room number. Thanks!

My pile of stuff to pack is getting bigger and bigger....pulled out my cowboy boots for the cowboy party and my western shirt and hat over the weekend!

I'm wondering if DCL does any promos on board if you book your next cruise - like extra SBC or anything like the other lines do? It's been years since we were on Magic last (I think 7 years ago) and I remember they were selling the Vacation Club all the time, but I don't remember about them selling future cruises. Any info? If they do I want to do a lot of research so I can book while on board for the best price hopefully. Any tips would be appreciated!

What do I need to do? Do I wait for someone to contact me? :goodvibes Thanks! I would like to buy something for the princess/prince, so will I be assigned a child?

Now that I don't know! :) We haven't had one of these on our DCL cruises before. I have purchased two tiaras for my girls and I guess they will wear their princess dresses and I think my son will just wear nice clothes. So, I am not sure what everyone is planning to do, I was just offering that we could share our extra tickets to the tea since our three kids will have 6 available people to bring and only two parents. I guess when we find out what time and day we go, or maybe it is a one time thing, that we will let you know that information? Maybe some of the others can elaborate on what they are planning to do? It sounds fun whatever it turns out to be! :yay:

A phone tree sounds good, or if it's a big change would they print it in the disney navigator

You will get a 10% discount on future cruises booked while on your current cruise! Be prepared to pay deposits. :)

It is good to get a booking on board even if it is a dummy booking for some date in the future which you can change to a cruise you actually want to go on at a later date. Though it might have changed, for quite some time it has been 10% off the cruise cost and some good onboard credit, the amount which depends on your Castaway Club status. Also you usually only have to pay half the deposit. You can have them pass your reservation over to a TA like Dreams Unlimited who run this board, and they you might also get some more onboard credit from them.

Bev reminded me on FB that the amount also depends on length of cruise. I forgot that as we never seem to think of short cruises!!! Been spoilt now with these longer ones!

I am very pleased to be an honorary godmother! Thanks! Do you know what day the tea is? Also what ages are your children? :goodvibes

No, I know nothing about this event other than what I have read on this thread. I am assuming that it will be one of the sea days? Someone said they give them little sashes and the princesses come around at the tea. I think someone said that the kids will get their invitations in the rooms at some point. I will let you know what we find out, I will need to make sure I have your room number. My kids are 9,7, and 4. My son is the oldest, but he is a big Disney fan! They will look like this: :dance3:

Sounds like a lot of fun to me! I'll let you know our cabin number when we get it! :goodvibes

Thank you everyone for Neil's birthday wishes. :)

Jools you know we'll be there.

They currently don't have any GTY's posted. I believe yesterday they still had IGTs up, but today nothing...At some point I think they would give up and give us our assignments. But that point is apparently not TODAY!

I am sure those still waiting will get them at least a week before the cruise???? At least I hope they do!!!! I can't see how DCL can delay them anymore than that?

Anyone have any ideas why they are holding them back? Surely it can't be that they are hoping to sell more at this late stage? :confused3

The Santa Maria departs from the same dock that we will be at. It is a five minute walk from The Magic to there berth. You can reserve online at that link and pay and pick up at the dock. Let me know which tour your decide on. Sarah and her DH and me and my DH and DD will be on the morning tour departing at 10:30.

Thanks,
Nickole

Thanks for all the info, my DH is super excited about taking a voyage on the Santa Maria. Seeing as there are a few DISers going on the morning tour, that will be our choice too. Just waiting to hear back from them :goodvibes

Liz, your pictures are so colorful! Parisian open markets are amazing and can't be missed. I love getting a few pieces of fresh fruit... strawberries in france taste so much than in the states!

Josh, I'm sure you wouldn't say that if you'd tasted Oregon grown strawberries. Or is that just a 'everything tastes better in Paris' statement?

Thanks for the pics Liz, it gets me real excited to visit there.

pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

It will all be fine!

Everyone's flights will arrive on time, with all luggage intact, and there will be no hurricanes, tropical storms, or anything other than perfect weather from the time we all leave home til we arrive back, safe and sound.

We Fairy Godmothers will take care of that!

pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Agreed :thumbsup2 Power of positive thinking!

Men never understand the importance of these things. Same thing with the number of shoes we need. I have a theory about that. Their Y chromosome is really just an X that's missing the DNA leg for fashion sense.

:lmao: :lmao: Great theory Pat!

When you board the ship and they announce your name and everyone claps for you.....Luminere's is on your left. Same floor as customer service also. You won't have any trouble finding it. Looking forward to meeting you!!! :goodvibes

Do we board the ship differently in Barca ... I've always entered where Lumiere's is on my right :confused3

I am lost on the thread.... sorry if I've missed anything important too.

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday my DH Neil....:cake: We'll be celebrating onboard :)

Happy Birthday Neil :goodvibes

Being a MIL for many years, I appreciate your comments as things can get difficult!!

Tongue biting seems to be a necessary part of making relationships work. I've learnt through the years that people are going to do whatever they're going to do, and what you think they should do, doesn't make one bit of difference. Once you can accept that, life runs a little smoother.

I agree and I know that things can often be misinterpreted or come out wrong. I often think how I will be a MIL someday. But years of her crazy coming into my house, rearranging my kitchen, going through my mail and jewelry. I've kind of just let it all go and usually just put it out of my mind and bite my tongue. Family dynamics are always tough that's for sure. Especially since SIL has been living with us for 6 years.

So sorry Lauren, that goes way beyond the usual difference of opinion between in-laws and into totally unacceptable behavior. We had BIL live with us for 9 months and he drove me crazy ... you however must be a saint to do it for 6 years

We don't have a problem having names/room numbers published. Noel were you still thinking of making the navigator into a pdf file?

Ok .. maybe I am a bit dim .. but what on earth is a phone tree ????

Maybe this is an "Americanism" so to speak. It is a list of people in a group who call each other in an organized fashion.

A phone tree is a network of people organized in such a way that they can quickly and easily spread information amongst each other. Phone trees are especially common among parents, who often want to be able to communicate quickly about canceled events and other issues, and they are also used by activists and a variety of other groups as well. Setting up a solid phone tree takes time, but many people feel that it is well worth the effort, since the phone tree can be used again and again.

One easy to way to visualize a phone tree is as a phone pyramid. One person at the top of the pyramid calls two people, who each call two more people, and so on, until every person in the phone tree has been called. This allows people to distribute information quickly, without placing the burden of work on one person. As you might imagine, there are a number of advantages to setting up a phone tree, not least of which is the ability to distribute information quickly in a crisis.

Generally, a phone tree is organized by a single person, to eliminate confusion. The person organizing the phone tree collects information about all of the individuals who should be included in the phone tree. For example, a small rural school might have a phone tree which could be used to notify people about canceled school days and other events of relevance to the school.

Ha, its just a "I've never tasted anything like it on the east coast" thing. Never had Oregon grown strawberries... but I bet they're spectacular! :woohoo:

We call it an alert roster in the military but it is the same thing, a hierarchical list so one person doesn't have to call 100 people.

Yep, I'm sure they are still trying to sell!! They are probably offering the CM specials now too... they seem to be late in the game, and of course the "dot coms" are all pushing it.

I know they sold the restricted GTYs to get some flexibility, but sure hope they decide it all soon!!!! :worship:

....

That's exactly what I kept thinking each time I read that posted!!! :lmao:

:dance3:

PHONE TREE.... I like the idea of a phone tree, but........let's have a back-up for it too, like the white board. Not saying everyone does this, but we didn't always stay on top of the phone checking.... In fact, we got so tired of DVC calls on the ebta that we stopped checking messages completely about half way through & put a paper over the blinking red light!! :rotfl2:
