There is always a mixture of dress styles on formal nights. We have always had a percentage of the dining room in "normal" dinner clothing, casual cruise clothing and formal clothing on semi formal and formal nights. I don't think it is a big deal.
Plus most of us will be sitting together so all that means with the slightly longer dinners those nights we just have a lot longer to visit and share the fun. I seriously doubt if anyone here would be upset if the person sitting next to them has casual on next to their sequins :) I prefer to think of our dining as a great group time to meet and exchange our news of the day, share needed advice for things and plain have fun!:banana::banana:

I ALWAYS make my husband wear long pants and hopefully a sports jacket on formal and semi formal nights. Otherwise he is in (hopefully) long pants and at least a nice shirt, even if it has short sleeves.

He LOVES when I agree to eat at Beach Blanket Buffet, but I like visiting with our tablemates and eating in the dining room.

BUT I WILL agree that on a long cruise (over one week) to eat up in Beach Blanket Buffet. The food is great, and it's nice to get our own salads.

We've never done Topsiders or BBB for dinner. As a matter of fact, on the WBTA 2010, we had Palo scheduled for one night and cancelled it to spend the time w/our tablemates. We had such a fun group we didn't want to miss a night w/them. :grouphug:

:). I have never done a tasting through DCL so was not aware of the cost. Thanks for sharing. This is a good way to think of it ::yes::

Jan

Jan, what a great idea to chip in! I haven't done a tasting in a long while, but my DSIL and I had one glass in Pink and I think it was $20 a glass. :scared1:

And Wayne, too (thinking of him wearing the Dumbo hat). And isn't that one of the things we love about them?

Yes, that and he does math so I don't have to!! That was the clincher for me! :lovestruc

If you want to link with the late dining group please PM me. I will need the name of the lead person on the reservation and your reservation number.

We will be linking very soon. Anyone else who would like to join the group, please PM me. Do not just put your name on the spreadsheet.

Roll call is the sign in for all of us here on Dis Board who are on the cruise. It gives us info about each other such as what seating you plan to eat, your cabin, if you are new or experienced Disney cruiser etc.. Those in charge f different activities can look at it for contact info and to be sure someone who sign up for something is still "onboard" etc

I am sure a more experienced member can explain it even better...
Ooohhhh, thank you so very much, Pixiegran. I finally got it, thanks for taking the time to explain this. :0)

I see on the first page there is still a tab for "Palo Brunch" and there are several of us on the list. Can someone tell me who is organizing that and if there is anything else I (we) need to do for this to happen. I remember hearing that you can reserve Palo for an occasion for a group of people and it was suggested that we say we are celebrating "special days". Any other thoughts on our group brunch reservation??? I would be happy to help with this:)

I don't think anyone has taken responsibility for this yet.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Another day closer to ALOHA!

It's sunny and a nippy 20 degrees F, here in the great northeast.

DH has gone Skiing, so I hope to finish my cruise planning today, along with my 11 month DVC reservations and make some birthday cards.

Happy Day, all!

For those of you who have already responded to this, feel free to ignore it, but for anyone who hasn't, here goes:

Hi Everyone,

To help Corinna put the mini-Navigator together, I volunteered to help gather information for a couple of sections:

1) Celebrations during the cruise. For this we would need DIS Name, first name(s), date and what is being celebrated.

2) Pages with pre- and post-cruise stays. For this we would need DIS name, first name(s), dates, and where people are staying.

I know there is some information on the DIS spreadsheet, but at this point I don't know how accurate that is, considering all the changes that have been made.

So please contact me if you would like your information to be included in the Hawaiian mini-Navigator. Thank you!

For those who have not participated before, the money we chip in for Champagne Girls barely covers half the cost of the beverges. Previously Deb has paid for all the favors (in our case the leis and hair flowers) and half the bubblies. For 100 of us, that is going to be a larger chunk than in past cruises when the group was 30 plus or minus.
 I would like to suggest that we each plan to bring a few extra dollars to toss into the kitty to help her out. My category is Guzzler and was $10. I am planning to bring at least $5 extra.
I am willing to bet that Deb will tell us she does not need or expect this, but I think it would help her out. She does not need to go broke on this party.
It could be totally anonymous--each of us does what she feels led to do. How about that?
Jan
Jan, this is a great idea. I agree completely, also that we should add as much as we like. Thank you so much Deb, this will be my first Champagne Girls and I can't wait!

I agree, It's the sharing of out time together and stories of the day etc.
We do dress up for formal and semi-formal and have had occasions where our table mates didn't dress for formal night but we still loved having them there. On one occasion our table mates had planned on not joining us for dinner as they were not dressing, we assured them that we didn't mind that they wouldn't be formally dressed, they then did join us for dinner and we had a great time.

Hoping to get some cruise planning one too. DH is away in Ireland on business so want to get some sewing done and start taking items out in preparation to pack.
Really starting to get excited now.
9 WEEKS from today!!!!

Would you like it PM'd to you?

I'm in. I think that is a wonderful idea. It is not fair that Deb pay for everything for 100 people. :flower3: fran

I have a question about tip envelops. Although there is an active thread about tipping, I don't really want to get in the debate that tipping tends to start. So, I hope no one minds if I ask my question here as it isn't really about tipping, but about delivering the envelops. For different reasons, I have missed the dining room on the last night on the last two cruises. Either I was sick, or a child was sick, but it didn't matter because I had another adult that could go deliver the tips. I'm worried about what I can do if for some unforseen reason this occurs again, without another adult with us. Hopefully it won't be a problem, but if I'm cabin bound, can I call Guest Services, would they be willing to pick them up? Or if my son is okay, can he take them to Guest Services? Can they be left in the stateroom? What are my options if getting out and delivering them is a problem?

If you have paid your tips through guest services and all you are worried about is getting the "tickets" to your servers and stuff, you don't need to worry. They get the money deposited into their account and I believe a list of who gave what. There have been many times I have been unable to track down someone and give them the little ticket. Now, if you are giving cash, that would obviously not work!

Well, I have just finished my little scrapbooking weekend at an expo, and I was in Anaheim.....imagine that. I didn't even make it to Disneyland, but I did go to Downtown Disney for a few minutes Friday night.

I got some final ideas for the scrapbook for the cruise and I bought a ton of stuff. My luggage probably weighed about 10 pounds coming down. Going home it is 47 pounds!

I am now about ready to board my plane in Long Beach back to Salt Lake City and will be home in about 2 hours!

I got some really cool doorprizes for our scrapbook class! They are Disney themed! I wish I could have bought for everyone, but I will give details of door prizes and websites where you can purchase after our class in case anyone is dying for the embellishments. Of course, I bought for me also! Couldn't resist.

I will be sending payment instructions in the next day or two for the class. I am going to cutoff the signups for the class early. Like champagne tasting, the class is gettimg large, so I have about 8 spaces left, and then I will close. If you are sitting on the fence, I would suggest you PM me, or I may not be able to accomodate.

On the first page, can someone change the post with my original close date.

Thanks. I am so excited for this cruise and scrapbook that I have put together. I hope everyone will like it as much as I do!

Glad you had a great time, Linda! I'm officially jealous - next to cruising, I love Scrapbooking best! Well, actually, DH is best, but you know what I mean:laughing:
