Since I've stayed at The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for over 7 nights, I've had the opportunity to form an opinion of VGF.
Simply put, this is one of the nicest DVC resorts that DVD has built at WDW. The room decor is very nice and has an upscale theme and the small flourishes to back up the theme. I like some of the room layout changes they've implemented, with the exception of the missing second toilet in the 1-BR.
The lake view is very nice (I enjoy it more than the lake view at BLT). Most of the standard view rooms are pretty nice too.
The resort is pretty compact, when compared to OKW and SSR. The beach pool is right next door, followed by the main resort building with dining and transportation options.
Speaking of dining, I thought the Gasparilla Island Grill is a pretty good counter service, the Grand Floridian Cafe is a nice casual table service, and there are great Signature dining choices with Citricos, Narcoossee's, and Victoria and Alberts. Plus, there is the 1900 Park Fare character dining, the Garden View Tea Room, and some nice lounges.
I really loved the 5-minute walk to the Polynesian. I walked there a few mornings and grabbed coffee at Kona.
The recreation options are nice - you might miss the lack of a community center, but I don't.
One of the big negatives to me is transportation. You see, I don't like taking Disney transportation and really love walking to a theme park. That's a key reason I love BLT and BWV. Yes, VGF has the monorail, but it can be packed at times or out of service, as it was for a few hours on this trip.
The cast members have been fantastic and numerous.
So, bottom line, I really like VGF.
I still like my Magic Kingdom views at BLT and my Boardwalk views at BWV, as well as being able to walk to a park, but the rooms aren't as nice as VGF.
