Just wanted to check in. Haven't been on in a while. I see a lot of people are booking flights. We need to do that too and figure out what hotel we want to stay at in Barcelona. We're still trying to decide if we want to buy DS a seat or not. He turns 2 on the cruise so could still be a lap child but if we get him his own seat I think we have to bring a carseat. Trying to make the decision. Probably will just have him be a lap child to save the money and he wouldn't want to be in the carseat for 8 hours anyway.

For WBTA 2011 when our youngest was 15 months, we bought her a seat so she could sleep in her carseat strapped in. Of course, she slept on my chest the entire way instead and the carseat had it's own seat. :confused3

Happy One-Year Birthday to this Rollcall Thread!!!!

I just noticed it when clicking on the first page.... February 12 :) How many of us still here made this WBTA booking on the very first day possible for our Castaway Club status??

I know I did... Woke up, saw one of our UK friends on FB say something about it, and about fell out of bed running to the computer room to snag one of the coveted sideways 11B rooms left for us lowly Silver members!! :rotfl2:

^^^ And of course "Book First, Ask Hubby Later" is my motto. ;) I think I told him that day at some point, and that we would figure out the rest of the details later.... which we are still doing haha.

I booked a little later. My TA was away-I had to book a higher inside category than I wanted but then I had her change it to GTY in the lower category.

I also booked the very first day (well, second day, that is, since I was only silver at the time) - can't believe it's already been one year!

Booked day one too... :sick::dance3:

Welcome to all the new folks :cheer2:

BTW. Any advice on the Greek ports? I am doing the med prior to this cruise, so any help on excursions would be helpful.

Hi, our DD will turn 2 on 9/26! Hopefully they can become buddies in the nursery! We have flown many times with her already and have bought a seat before for her. You do not need to bring the car seat on the plane- we actually never have brought it on the plane.
How exciting! We have to get together and see if they can become friends before the nursery. It's always nice for the kids to have a buddy:good vibes I thought I had read on one of the airline websites that if we purchased a seat for a child under 2 then they must be in a carseat. Maybe it's just that airline. I'm sure he'll end up in my lap anyway so we'll probably just save the money.

I've been checking out hotels for 2 days now and can't believe how few there are to choose from. We stayed in Barcelona this past summer and had so many more options. I wonder if there is a convention, conference or if it's just tourist season?
We're trying to decide what area we want to stay in. I'm trying to decide between beach or Las Ramblas. This is always the decision I hate because anyone can post awesome pics. Don't want to get there and be disappointed.

Just been lurking I work two jobs so iam always busy, on company time as i type this LOL, just got vacation time approved so now the real planning begins :) Look foward to boarding with you all- steve
Congrats on getting vacation time approval. It's always nice to know that things are definite :good vibes

That's exactly what I'm thinking so I might just cut out the carseat option. Especially because we're a family of 4 so then if both kids have a seat then DH gets to sit across the aisle and just sleep the whole time. I can't let that happen :rotfl2: Can't believe it's already been 1 year. We didn't book on opening day because we didn't have a dummy booking to move so we waited until May to book.

We stayed at Hotel ARC La Rambla in June for 4 nights and was very happy with it. We arrived several hours prior to check in and they provided us with a locker for our bags so we didn't have to keep them with us. The hotel was very clean and the front desk staff was always helpful. There was three of us, so I booked a "suite" that accommodated up to four. The bathroom was very large, we had an outside balcony that was spacious as well. The free wi-fi was nice to have as well. There was a mini-fridge and safe in the room.

The only negative I can recall was the breakfast. It just wasn't the type of food my boys typically have for breakfast, so they were a bit disappointed.

The location is right on Las Ramblas, just a block from the train station and a few blocks from La Boqueria.

We are staying there again this time with no hesitation.

We booked the first day for Gold, opening day -1.

Vacation has been approved for both of us (finally), most flights are booked, and all hotels are booked.

After our cruise next month, we will begin planning daily activities for Istanbul, Rome, Barcelona, San Juan, and of course excursions for the cruise itself! :)

It's so good seeing all the familiar faces!! :goodvibes

We finally purchased outbound airfare this week after getting the thumbs-up from school of starting the year late for our second grader. We are trying to do some mission work in Prague as well as spend time in Scotland and England pre-cruise (my grandmother was from England was a WWII war bride who came to the US). Funny enough, total nights away from home for this WBTA will be the same as EBTA 2013. I just figured that out looking at the calendar! Still pinching myself we got the answer back from school, but nobody can argue that the learning our daughter will have on the trip versus doing review the first weeks of school is any comparison.

Namsupak - where do you live in WV? My cousin lives in Harpers Ferry and we go there often :)

We stayed one week in Prague and loved it. Looking forward to hearing about your visit.

Last weekend we went to the L.A. Travel and Adventure Show. We spoke with a rep at the Czech Republic booth, and were pleased to hear that they have yet to adopt the euro as their official currency, meaning prices have yet to go up.
