Fantasy 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise 8/2/14 - 8/9/14

What is the BC/YC thread?? We can have a graphic made and we can make ourselves pins or just pin them on our shirt? You will recognize me because I will be the large lady on a scooter wearing a Mickey hat!! :yay: I think we will recognize Joe because he has 4 women with him!!!! :rotfl2:

I'm not sure how complicated we want to get. I do own a cricut, so I can make small mickey heads by the thousands. I also have a small laminator. So again, I can make something akin to the Mickey heads of yore. However, I've found the pins from craft stores to be utterly useless, so that brings me to binder clips as a fastener. Would they be too heavy?:confused3

Also, would we want them for kids, or just those with "charging privileges?":confused3

(I apologize in advance to anyone who might give their kids charging privileges, you are a Brave soul - or possibly, have perfect children!)

The BC/YC thread is over on the resorts board here on the DIS. It's for fans of the Beach Club and Yacht Club. One of the ladies over there made buttons using a colored printer, and round buttons she got at the craft store.

I agree with joyck that we can make them really simple. I think just those with charging privileges (btw, none for our kids as we learned the hard way what happens when an 8 year has those in the school cafeteria).

Yes, thanks Joy & Alice- that would be nice I think to have buttons or something. We'll have to rely on the experienced to suggest a day and place to meet.

Teri - I'm glad you are getting much needed rain!

Joe - I'm with you in the snow - I think my kids might have a snow day on Monday. Its a good thing I didn't plan that cruise at the end of May, we'll be in school until June at this point.

Ok. First question. Do we want the identifier to be lanyard based?? If so, I can suggest:

1) I can make Mickey heads, in any color we might choose. One option, depending on what people want, would be simply to purchase some vinyl and make stickers to place on the lanyard pockets. Is that _too_ simple? I also do realize that the pockets turn, and could do "2/person" if we wanted.

2) I can also make Mickey heads and laminate them. We could either do a simple hole punch and attach to lanyard, but it would be a second item hanging next to the pouch.

3) I could also make them somewhat larger, and could put binder clips on them to attach to bags, as in the days of yore. However, this is where I worry that this could get pricey.

What say you, how would you like us to recognize each other??

Of course, as Joe mentioned, we could do the rubber "livestrong" style bracelets. But we would need to plan that earlier - and they are less attractive for formal night.

Any thoughts appreciated. . .

I like option number 1 in lime green:thumbsup2

Also, are you saying that I wasn't fashionable wearing my rubber bracelet with my tux:confused3

I also like option 1. Small lime-green stickers would be easy to spot. I'd be happy to pitch in for supplies, too.

I'd say a discreet sticker on a lanyard or the bracelet (that I would NOT wear on formal night :)) would be fine. I'd like to be able to recognize other DISers, but I also know I'm not the type to wear anything overly flamboyant or attention getting. If our identifier is blatant enough to draw attention from random cruisers, it'd be too much for me. Just my 2 cents. :)

Ok. Amazon has the vinyl pretty cheap. I already own transfer tape, so this should be very do-able. The only challenge I may face is making them "small enough". I can definitely make them less than 1", but I don't know if I can easily get down to, say, 1/2".

Thanks to yet ANOTHER snow day tomorrow, I'll play with some mock ups.

Do we want to sticker each side of the key holder, or will one sticker/person do?

P.S. Joe, I have NO doubt that you look Very handsome on formal night, rubber bracelet or not!

Sounds good, Joy!! I'd definitely contribute to the cost of supplies as well. How many snow days so far? We've had 4 which is more than I've ever had in 14 years of teaching! Prior to this year I'd never had more than 2 in ine year!

:cool1: Count me in on the decision. I would not vote for the bracelet as they are always too tight on this Pooh sized person. Since I have mentioned that I will always have Mickey ears on, I would wear any size sticker or tag that you would want me to wear!!! I will also pitch in any $$ that are needed for this fun item!!

Option 1 sounds great, and I think only 1 will be needed. I, too, will be happy to help out with costs!

We are having snow day #6 here at the beach, completely unheard of here! Yesterday it was 71, today will get down to the 20's in a few hours. What a winter we have all had!

Hi all, this sounds good, and of course I'd be happy to contribute to expenses.
We are home also having a snow day. Unfortunately, I still have to get work done.

Power up issues with my computer hooked to the cricut. I'll try again soon!

22 years of teaching. 44 years of living in the Mid-Atlantic region. I've never seen a winter like this.. .:crazy2::eek:

:wave2: Hello friends,
I have an FE question...I have been reading ALOT about FE gift ideas. I am on two different FE Facebook groups. One of the "questionable" gifts is a small alcohol. Can we add to the FE list if alcohol is a yes or a no?? Some men might like it and women might like wine. Just floating an idea out there. :cool1:

Yes, that is a good idea to make it optional. Given a choice, I'd opt out of receiving alcohol. Or if we did receive it, we could see who might want it as a "re-gift."

Funny story: We had gotten some small bottles of maple syrup. We used them all. My husband got a small bottle of Jack Daniels from somewhere. I came downstairs and found my 9 year old son about to pour it on his pancakes!

To the several of you who have offered to defray my costs, I want to offer my thanks. Once they are complete, I'll let you know (to the best I can calculate) what I have spent. However, depending on the size, they are likely to be pennies to make. I strongly suspect that my total cost, including shipping of the materials will be less than $10. I can absorb the cost, but for those who are willing to contribute $0.25 to $1.00, the offer is appreciated!
