Cruising The Canal May 1, 2015 (Roll Call in Post 1)

Hello everyone! Me, DH, DS3 and my little peanut still inside me are going on this cruise. I found out I was pregnant the day before it was booking day. I was like yes he/she will be around 6 months that time and it's Disney they cater to all ages. We are excited to finally found a group this early! This will be our first disney cruise ever!

Hi and :welcome: - to the group and to cruising :) You're right, Disney do cater to all ages and, hopefully, with fewer kids onboard, you should find you don't have a problem getting some nursery time booked for your little one if you want it :thumbsup2

Hi, my name is Claudia this will be my 9th cruise. We just canceled the transatlantic and booked this cruise. This will be my DH first Disney cruise. My DD (12) and myself cruised the first PC cruise and are excited to be going again, although we are disappointed no CC so we also booked the cruise before this one but we aren't sure if we can get the kids out of school for both cruises. We have a DS(7) and DD(5) that will be cruising also.

Hi Claudia, you are another one who has already done a PC cruise. Us newbies will be turning to you for advice. I am a little disappointed to be missing Castaway Cay too.

Welcome to the group :)

Hi there, sorry you had to cancel the EBTA. The Transatlantic is on my bucket list (either way, I don't really mind) but my DH really, really wants to do the Panama Canal. Since he quite often indulges me with my choice of vacation, it's his turn to choose this time.
My husband got to go through the PC on a Navy sub, but this will be the first time for our girls and me.

We did last year's EBTA and it was lovely, but it just didn't work out for this year.

DH and I just booked this today. It will be our first time through the Panama Canal, and we're looking forward to all of the sea days to just relax. :sunny:
Sea days are the best!

BTW, there's a great PC trip report with tons of pictures on this board, I began reading it yesterday and it made me even more excited.
Any chance you could link the thread you're talking about? I'd love to read another TR. I read Disneyzellin's report, but am always up for more.

Hi Kathleen, I am so excited for this itinerary. Our first 14-night too. My main concern at the moment is how I'm going to bring enough clothes with me
We did 21 nights last year (EBTA followed by the first Med) and found that we packed way more than we needed. I did laundry once a week and I think we could honestly have packed for just one week and been fine.

Hi all-
We were originally on this year'a WBPC cruise and had to reschedule...I can't wait for this one! Myself, my DH and our DD (10 when we cruise) will be joining you :)

Looking forward to all of the planning over the next year!
Cari

Hi , we booked this cruise to! We're so excited - 2 weeks on a Disney cruise! This will be our 5th Disney cruise and it will be Me, DH and DD who will be almost 10 at the time. So glad to see there are a few other kids her age - was worried she'd be lonely!

Hi there,

I am new to Disboards. This is our 2nd Disney cruise and we booked the Panama Canal yesterday too. I am so excited. 14 Days!! Woohoo!! I will be traveling with my husband, my daughter (will be 9) and my son (will be 7). We did the Pixar Cruise in October 2012. We chose to do Walt DIsney World last year and decided we really wanted to do the Panama Canal Cruise for 2015.

Does anyone know that different shows? What are the themes and what do we do on the longer cruises? Who organizes the FE's?

I know the Golden Mickey Show, Toy Story and Dreams. Restaurants are still Parrot Cay, Tritons and Animators Palate right??

Hi  It's our 5th DCL cruise also :) It does look like there will be quite a few tween kids so your DD should be happy.

:welcome: to the DIS and to the cruise group. How was the Pixar cruise? It looked awesome!

As far as the shows are concerned, I think they usually have a couple of variety-type acts, like they do on the 7 night but no idea what they might be. I have also read on previous PC trip reports that there are some special menus for the Panama Canal cruises so that should be good.

I haven't been on the Wonder in years (she was the first Disney ship we sailed on back in 2007 and then again in 2009) so I'm not overly familiar with everything but, yes, the main restaurants are still the 3 you mentioned.

Planning. I've already looked at the excursions listed on the web site for THIS years Panama Canal cruise to get an idea of what is available! How crazy is that. Actually it makes perfect sense since I'm impatiently waiting for Disney to release Southern Caribbean excursions! Ive also started looking at Miami hotels. I know we are flying into FLL (will be flying Southwest). I need to step away from the computer. I booked this cruise for my mom but I am so looking forward to this cruise and looking forward to getting to know everyone over the next year!

Mary, I know exactly what you mean. I have already added some potential excursions to my 'wish list' and have been reading PC trip reports. I was looking at Miami Hotels last night. The Intercontinental Miami looks good - but pricey. Although I get the impression that Miami hotels are expensive anyway. We are flying in to Miami (even though I detest that airport) as we can fly there direct from UK.

I am so excited already. Goodness knows what I will be like this time next year

Hello!!! We are so excited for this cruise! I will be traveling with my friend and her family as well! I have 3 kids and she has 2!! Ages 12,11,8,6,4!! Can't wait!!!

Woohoo!! I'm so excited that we're booked for WBPC!! By the time we cruise here, it will be our 8th cruise, 2nd time on the Wonder. It's going to be my myself, DH, DS who will be 10 and 1 month shy of his 11th b-day & my DD who will be 7. I'm not looking forward to notifying the school of the 11 day absences :(. Hey but a parent has to do what a parent has to do lol
I think it will be a very educational trip for them :)
Looking forward to getting to know you all. We're from Connecticut. And we are going to keep this a surprise from our kids :)

Hello all, I have also booked the Panama Canal..woohoo!!! We originally wanted to do the transatlantic but we didn't really like the port stops so we choose the Panama Canal.. We are Travelling from Western Australia and it's me, my Hubby Jeff and our 2 sons. Alex our oldest turns 12 on the cruise and our youngest son Axel will be 8.
We are super excited, we have been on the Fantasy in May last year and I got hubby hooked on cruising and he choose to go again before we even left the cruise...lol
Looking forward to getting to know you all...xxx

Wow, there are quite a few pages already :thumbsup2.

I've just ordered "Path between the seas", it's aparently a very interesting book about the construction of the canal.

And right now, I'm browsing excursions, so exciting!
We were on the Western Caribbean itinerary last year and did the secret river excursion in Cozumel, which I can't recommend enough. It was such an amazing experience, even my parents, who were very apprehensive at first, absoulutely loved the mystic atmosphere.

I'm so excited about this cruise that I keep forgetting about our Eastern Caribbean in August.

:welcome: We always pulled our boys out for trips and never had an issue but I have decided that things are much different on that subject by state and that times have changed so good luck. You are a stronger person that I - there is no way I could keep the surprise - but I love hearing about others that do. They will have a blast plus see something that is totally awesome.

:welcome: Addicting, isn't it?? What is it about that Disney that it gets to us?

Be warned -that is a really 'dry' book, like reading a history textbook (which I guess it really is) but I am glad I pushed myself through it. I keep thinking I should try to reread it - will have to work on that. I have also looked at the excursions - I will have to go and check out the secret river excursion in Cozumel - we typically have a beach day at Nachi when we go.

Thank you for the warning, I would have expected it to be more entertaining due to the reviews.

But I'm sure it will beat the book I'm currently reading for university: "Intermediate Microeconomics, a modern approach" :rotfl2:, I'm used to a certain dryness.

There aren't that many accessible underwater rivers in the world, so the excursion is quite a unique experience and our guide was knowledgeable, too.
It really was a wonderful day.
