It was lunchtime on Thursday, June 5th. After a long wait in the hot sun, we were sort of zapped of our energy and everyone was getting a little ill. For me, a bit of that "it's our last day at Disney World" realization was setting in. But once we were seated we were enjoying Sci-Fi. Our server was George and he was okay. He was a little bit slow but overall I think he did a good job.
For our appetizers, DD and I both ordered the Onion Rings:
You can't go wrong here. Delicious and a generous portion. I think onion rings and Sci-Fi go together like peas and carrots.
DW ordered the Spinach and Artichoke dip:
She had ordered this the last time we ate here and really enjoyed it. She enjoyed again this time as well. Very tasty!
DS ordered the Chicken Wings: (sorry for the blurry picture...it's tough to get good food pics in the darkness of that dining room!)
They weren't anything special. He compared them to the chicken wings you can get at the Walmart deli.
For my entree, I got the St. Louis style ribs: (again, sorry for the poor pics...they really weren't that dark, just poor lighting)
They were good. On par with what you might expect at a Chili's or something like that. The beans were nothing special but the slaw was really good.
DW got the NY Strip Steak with Blue Cheese Butter:
This was excellent! The steak was cooked just right and that butter made the steak so tasty! I was jealous! I wish I had ordered this!
DS ordered the Smoked Turkey Sandwich:
I don't remember if he liked it or not.
DD ordered the Famous All-American Picnic Burger:
I won't really give a review here because DD was starting to feel really bad. The heat had made her nauseous and she had lost her appetite. She excused herself from the table...and returned to tell us that she had indeed gotten sick. DD has a bit of a compromised immune system anyway and I could tell that she just wasn't feeling well. All of the excitement and the exhaustion of the past several days had caught up with her. Needless to say, she didn't order dessert. I didn't either. In fact, now I was starting to feel bad also. I excused myself from the table. Meanwhile, DS and DW didn't know what was going on so they ordered their dessert. They both got the Turtle Cheesecake:
By the time DD and I both got back to the table, neither of us were feeling well. We asked George for our check and had to wait on that for awhile.
Here was the plan for the rest of this day: we had a FastPass+ for Toy Story Mania at 2:10pm, Tower of Terror at 3:10pm, and Star Tours at 4:10pm. We had dinner reservations at Sanaa at 6pm. After dinner we were going to drive North on I-75 for a few hours, get a hotel for the night, then drive on home Friday morning.
George finally brings the check and I see that we now have zero dining credits left.
I assessed the situation and then made a suggestion. I said, "since we have no dining credits left for dinner, we could just go ahead and leave now and we would be home and in our own beds late tonight." They all agreed. We were missing our sweet fur-babies back home and everyone knows there's no place like home when you're not feeling well. However, we all really wanted to do Toy Story since we had not ridden on this trip. Also, we still had several snack credits left to spend.
We decided to stick around until after we got in our ride on Toy Story.
Coming up next: our final few attractions, spending our snack credits, and saying goodbye to Disney World for this year.
