Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

Thanks! Finished w a gun time of 2:32 and a total time of 2:23. Very proud of myself!

OK who's doing TOT next year,I've done it the last 2 years but I definitely plan to switch to Wine and Dine next year,or I might do both!!Let's see how I feel by registration time next year,I have 7 half marathons and the Goofy challenge in the next 5 months, hopefully I'm not burned out by then,it's the most I've ever done in that span.Do you think next years TOT medal will be the same, obviously it's a great medal but I have two identical ones for 2013-2014 so a new one will pretty much guarantee me signing up for 2015.

I'm also thinking of wine and dine next year. I really enjoyed TOT but I can't do multiple disney races per year and would like to try out other ones. I really enjoyed the night race experience and I heard wine and dine has a great course. I didn't love the WWOS and highway portions of this one that much.

I'm def thinking wine and dine 2015, would be my last chance to get coast to coast with Star Wars 1/2, also heard great things about the wine and dine course.

Yay, it sounds like there will be several people from this thread on the Wine and Dine 2015 thread :)

AWESOME job on your finish time!!!:thumbsup2

I totally agree with you about getting a room with a kitchen for the next race. I was just not feeling at my prime with some nutrition/stomach issues. It's too late for me to change my reservation for W&D, but I'm also registered for the marathon and I'm going to look into changing to a cabin at Ft. Wilderness or a DVC if possible.

Thank you. I was pretty excited about it. I am feeling a bit lost now that the race was over with no planning to do for a trip. I have only been home 2 days and it feels like it has been a year since I went.

The cabins aren't usually a host resort, are they?

I may have to go read up on the marathon thread now because I am very curious what planning is like for a morning race. For example, if they have to get up so early to get to the race then how do they eat breakfast. Are any places open? I would like to run the marathon there one day (possibly Dopey or Goofy) so I can plan for that maybe? :confused3

How was everyone's race??

I had a great time!! Couldn't have asked for better weather...we started in corral D and had no problems with congestion, it got crowded but not unmanageable in the narrow parts of the course. We finished in around 2 hours and 5 minutes...stopped for every character/photo stop except for the witch, the queen of hearts, and Lotso towards the end. My pictures didn't come out great but I loved the spooky effects on the horse, and Hades talking to people from the DHS sign. The party felt kind of crowded and we were tired at that point, so we rode a few rides, met a few characters, and headed out.

Overall, what an awesome weekend!

I had stayed in Disney and came home last night. I had a great time. The weather was nice. I finished in 2:08. After last year I am very happy with this years result. It was 56 minutes faster than last year. :rotfl2::rotfl2: It will help with the Goofy corral placement. I started at the front of the corral I and went out a little quick to stay ahead everyone. I ran on the outside shoulders and really had no issues with the walk breaks or the crowds that stayed in the middle. The one part that I got lucky with is when I got to the dirt trail at ESPN. I was with a group of runners so it was nice to fly thru there. Had friends that started in G that I caught just past mile 5. It was also those friends that took the pic of my iced up knees. Didn't hurt anything. Just really helps me with the quick recovery process. Spent all day Sunday walking around Epcot sampling food.
:rotfl:

finished in 2:18, which was only 3 minutes over my goal time.
With two bathroom breaks and serious congestion on the trail going to ESPN, I think I did fantastic. That time should help my placement a little for the 1/2 in January.

I was so proud of myself just to get the medal.

Wait times were nothing close to what was posted for the rides. Rock and Roller said 45, but I was on and off in less than 20. Same with Tower of Terror.

The late night did me in royally though. I was sick on Sunday - headache and nausea. I should have known it would happen, since it always did in college when I tried to pull an all nighter.

Met some wonderful, wonderful ppl in corral I. "Hi corral I!!!" Is Ed on here? Thanks for the Disney trivia. :) Also saw the ppl I talked to while in line at the Expo. Such a small world.

The volunteers were fantastic. They really motivated me.
It'll be interesting to see how they have to change the course in the park once construction begins around the old Backlot tour. I got pretty emotional. Probably because I was in mile 9 - but also because it was just so cool to do that.

Wearing my race shirt to work today, and I realized, it glows!

I am here. Great finish. Just might end up in the same corral again. I agree that the volunteers are absolutely wonderful. Always make it a point to thank them for being there to help us on course.

I didn't stay long to hit any of the attractions. One of my friends was not feeling well so we left. I also felt that the post race crowd was larger than last year. I was also surprised to see that the foil blankets were not being handed out.

Woohoo! My sister and I are in the video and the photo album on the rundisney facebook page! We are dressed in the stepsister costumes a little after 2:30 in the video...I feel famous! :cool1::rotfl2:

I am not on Facebook. Is this video and album viewable for anyone? Can you post the link?

I am thinking along the same lines. Wine and Dine 2015 is on the calendar along with the Princess 1/2 in 2016. You have more energy than me to run what is on your schedule.

Congrats on the improved time! And you don't have to me "on" Facebook to look at the video and photos, just search for RunDisney Facebook and both the photos and video should be there.

I decided to go extreme this year doing Goofy as well as the 5 races of the Florida Storm series which gets you 3 extra medals after the 3rd,4th and 5th race,so doing all 5 races gets you 8 medals.I was already signed up for 2 of the 5 and just decided to go for it and sign up for all of them along with 2 other ones not in that challenge.I highly likely won't be doing those next year as I have Wine and Dine and a couple others I've never done on the radar.

I'm pretty sure that ALL resorts are host resorts for the Marathon. I haven't done marathon weekend yet, but at Princess in February of this year, I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and our race transportation bus stopped at Ft. Wilderness campground too.

None of the restaurants/food courts were open early in the morning for Princess either--I just made sure to buy some snacks the night before (I got an uncrustables peanut butter and jelly sandwich and some fruit). I think that's another advantage of staying in a place with a kitchen--more control over what you can have for breakfast!
I did call and there is a cabin available for the dates I need, as well as a 1 bedroom DVC villa at Saratoga Springs. just waiting for the opportunity to talk to my husband and see if we are bringing the whole family or if it's just me going down. I don't really want to stay in a cabin all by myself! :)

Hope everyone had a GREAT race! I know I did... could not believe the weather. That was crazy! I was so chilled by the finish, I couldn't stop shivering - remember, I'm still acclimated to 100-degree heat indexes, lol! No complaints, though; it was so refreshing to finish this race without being on the verge of heat stroke.

Met all of my goals this year: stopped for pics, spent time with friends, and ran fast enough that it would have been a big PR without the stops (I've never stopped in the previous years' TOTs). Finished strong and uninjured. I'm a satisfied runner! :cool1:

Want the full review? I got busy with writing after the race :)
2014 Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler - Race Recap!

According to RunDisney Twitter race pics are up!

Some are! It says they are still identifying pics and to check back. I ended up taking a "medals" pic with a guy I ran with for about the last 1/4 mile or so of the race, and that's not showing up. I was able to look him up, based on finish times, and it's not showing in his pics either. I didn't stop for any of the character shots, so I really want to see any of the pics of me I know should be there! :)

Same here, hopefully there's more finish line pics because mine are other peoples lol. Def looking to get a pic or 2

So if you took credit cards or debit cards with you to the expo be on the look out. My information was stole this weekend and after discussing with my run group and discovering a large percentage of use have had our CC info stole on race weekends we think it must be someone skimming the numbers at the expo. It isn't the card linked to my magic band so it definitely wasn't that and since the unknown charges were in the Orlando area I assume that is where it was taken. I'm going to call runDisney just to give them a heads up.
