Short-cut from PBH through HRH Parking Lot to US/IOA

Hi Folks:

I read on a previous post that there is a short cut from Portofino Bay Hotel through the Hard Rock Hotel parking lot to Universal. I haven't stayed at PBH before and will be there in April. The general description didn't give me a feeling of confidence that I would find it. Is there a map that I can look at that shows it or can someone give me more detail on the direct route?

If you go on orlando informer site under universal vacation planning tab and scroll down to Portofino Bay distance to parks, click on link then look for orange wording:OI map of Universal Orlando’s on-site hotels and zoom in you can see exactly where the path is. It will be in red. You'll see where the red line breaks off from the pink line. You would follow the red line. We did it in June and it was easy. Hope that helps.

I laughed when I saw this. We tried this shortcut a couple of years ago and were stumped at the end of that first parking lot. We did not realize you had to go through the bushes and over that short bank into the second parking lot. We turned around, went back to the front of the HRH, into the hotel, down to the boat launch, and took the shuttle. Likely took us twice as long as simply taking the boat from PBH.

After that we stuck to the boat. Still trying to recover my cred from pushing everyone to take that "shortcut".

I know how you feel. DH and DS wouldn't even follow me into the parking lot! If I'd gotten them to do so and then we had to push through bushes, I probably would never have gotten them to believe me again.

We went in the front door of the hotel, went through the pool area and out that gate, and along the path. As much as they trust me in so many ways related to vacation (and otherwise), they would not follow me through that shortcut.

You don't have to push through bushes. When you get to the last parking lot, you just cross over to the road on the right. There is a sidewalk that takes you right to the gate.

''Twas a turn of phrase. Also how the family would see it. They are highly risk adverse (in some ways) at theme parks. Someday I'll go alone and experience it on my own.

Yes. There is no sidewalk on it until right near the park.

Lol, I wish I had known that at the time. All I remember is that it was a hot morning, we walked, sweating, to the end of the first parking lot and saw bushes - at that point the "tribe" turned on me. "Stupid shortcut" shouted by many is my main memory of that moment, as I dodged small sticks (thankfully, no good size rocks were readily available) thrown in my direction. It stinks to be the king, sometimes . . .

When we took the short cut we continued to the end of that last parking lot where the bushes are and there was a garbage with a path right there. If you do satellite image on google maps and zoom in you can see that path.
