January/February 2018 discounts, who else is in?

Yes, when I went online this afternoon there was a Visa member discount. It took 35% off for Yacht Club.
Darn. I called this morning and they said it wasn't available for my dates. Was it with the codes in the drop down when booking or on main page where it lists the current specials? Just so I know where to look when I check. I really could use the extra $250!

I saw it was under current specials as a featured offer, but I first found it by it just popping up with all the other offers when looking at my dates. I noticed it about 3:30 pm. Hope that helps.

I have spent approximately seven hours on the phone with Disney over the past 2 days booking a split stay ... if I was not reading all of this information, I would not have known to question some of what I was told. The first two times I called was during the computer glitch yesterday morning when I was given a discount but not offered the visa discount even though I told the CMs I was a visa holder...( later I was told it was probably due to the computer glitch )... I had to press pretty hard to get them to look for the visa offer and eventually gave them the offer code, and ended up today also getting a pin code by email which was pretty useless.

We ended ended up with a deep discount of 35% off at the gf and we were going to stick with por rack rate for the other part of our trip until I started playing with the visa offer and discovered I could get the animal kingdom savanna view at 35% off for only $200 more (than POR preferred rack)... I really don't blame the cast members- it sounds like so many codes came out, they couldn't keep up with them.

If anyone is still looking, I would recommend checking out the beach club, Akl, and GF because they seem to have some ridiculously deep discounts for a visa holders .

Actually I wonder if it just pulls up after you click this link? I had found this in an earlier thread and it was shortly after I clicked on it, I saw it as an option. And it appears to be showing up again for my dates.

Great rate, what dates for your split stay?
1/21 to 1/27. Got a really great CM to help me about a half an hour after the computers started working again. Although it took me 4 phone calls. I was just about to give up, but decided to try again. Wasn't having any luck online and the visa promo wasn't online at that time. The CM suggested a split stay, saying it wouldn't be much trouble to switch from BC to YC. We love Epcot.

No go for 2/16 or 2/17, but I did change to Music for 2/25 to 2/28/18 standard accessible for an average rate after tax of $120.92 per night... Works for us.
Nothing available using the visa code, used the gift of magic room only offer.
I've been stalking the Disney visa special offers site all evening, at 10:25PM, for a brief moment
a Disney Visa rate showed up for All Star Music for my dates 2/25 to 2/28. Average rate after taxes
$106.69 for a standard accessible. I immediately called the 407 number and they said the wait
time was 20 minutes. At the 11:05PM hour I couldn't wait so I booked the reservation as a
new booking. Just as I hit go, the CM came on the line. He immediately cancelled the
reservation I made this morning (avg rate $120.92) and gave me a cancellation number and will
refund my deposit. This is tough ....but I will keep stalking. My dates of 2/16 and 2/17 pre-cruise
are blacked out..so am paying rack rate ...

Does anyone know if CM can see additional rooms on their end on the phone or if what they see is what we see online? I am booked 1/1 - 1/13 for CBR but I really really wanted POP. Or does anyone know if they release additional rooms later on?

What you see online should match what the CM says, if anything some of the more "inept" CMs don't even see everything you can see online because they don't try hard enough. POP has very scarce availability for these deals BUT availability can change. I Recommend checking daily, multiple times...AND if you see something that works for you I'd consider booking it online and then call and cancel your existing reservation for a refund. You obviously could call and change it over but there's risk of the room getting snagged while you wait on hold.

Congrats - a little effort and you save over $40! Keep watching, that availability is a constantly changing thing!

Thank you! Yes I will keep looking and hoping something opens! :)

Playing around online and seeing that I could upgrade from POP to AKL for $700. This is a lot but do able. I'm wondering opinions on who would do this for a first and maybe only trip.

Definitely upgrade to AKL. We did it last year from POR and loved it. It's one of the best hotels in Disney. We did it again this year. Got the visa discount and are only paying around $150 more than POR.

When I clicked on the VISA link just now, BC showed up as an option. I switched from Saratoga Springs to BC. Yes, BC is more, but it was only $70 a night more so I think I got a good deal :-). DH still wants AKL so I might keep checking for that, but I myself prefer BC.

I'm either losing my mind, just don't care anymore, or things are very different this morning. First, the price I got for BC is the same whether I use my VISA or the regular room only discount. Also, I wasn't finding anything at AKL and this morning there was a pool view available at a decent price. I now have two bookings until I can discuss with DH tonight. Well, actually, I have three bookings, but the Saratoga Springs was just a courtesy hold. Are others finding more availability now than originally? I really just want to make sure I'm not losing it LOL.

This is my first time booking a trip. How long can you carrying 2 reservations without penalty? I'd be tempted to also book AKL and keep my POP until I'm certain about finances. If we were leaving for our trip in a months time I'd say absolutely lets upgrade but I have 4 more months and lets be honest anything could happen. My fear is upgrading and then no longer being able to downgrade if for some reason I need too. I also don't want to be too conservative and then be disappointed if this upgrade is unavailable in 2 months from now

Keep two until the 5 day window for free cancellation.

Edited to add - this is for room only reservations. Packages are a bit more complex. Just check the fine print on your emails.

The cancellation policy states:
  • For cancellations made 30 days or more prior to guest arrival, amounts paid, minus cancellation fees assessed by third party hotels or other suppliers, non-refundable air transportation, non-refundable runDisney race registrations, travel insurance premiums, and other amounts owed, will be refunded.

Which is how many days? This won't impact my ADRS or FP correct?

I'm not sure I understand your question. I don't know what you mean by "keep two until the 5 day window for free cancellation." I had to put down a $200 deposit for each package, but both are 100% refundable if I cancel more than 30 days before check in. As long as I have an active reservation, doesn't affect ADRs, and I can't make FPs until end of December.

The 5 day window is for room-only bookings, not packages. You are correct that cancellation without penalty for packages is 30 days out.

Ahhhh. You must mean five days prior to arrival :-). I've always done a package so my head was not tuned in to a room only.
