January/February 2018 discounts, who else is in?

Oh and if I do online check in for 2/20 but don't actually show up until 2/21, will they know and/or care? I am not sure I can actually go a day earlier, but it saves money!

If you don't show up until the 21st, there's a possibility your reservation will be cancelled. There are travel delays so you could call them on the 20th and tell them your flight was cancelled, etc and that you won't be there until the 21st. But without calling and having them note your reservation, at 6AM on the 21st you will be considered a "no show" and the system will cancel your reservation.

Ok, good to know! That was definitely my biggest concern. I will keep trying to get the dates adjusted if I can't fly in Tuesday night. Thanks!

Does anyone know if CM can see additional rooms on their end on the phone or if what they see is what we see online? I am booked 1/1 - 1/13 for CBR but I really really wanted POP. Or does anyone know if they release additional rooms later on?

I've also been checking numerous times a day for POP with no success. I have a room booked with a room-only savings but really feel that SPD would save me more $ so I keep looking for that. I called in last night to see if a CM would have better success but she checked both the Canadian and Domestic SPD offers and did not see any availability at Pop for my dates.

Congrats to all those who got savings. I couldn't get any for a standard room(only for club level) at the Poly but this morning I got an email with a code. When life calms down I may call again. It is okay. I taught a class this summer, I wasn't supposed to but it came up at the last minute, which covers the cost so it is okay with me. But this is the first time I have ever gone without a discount.

Well I found random availability Feb 4-8 at Pop for SPD so I snagged it. There is no availability at Pop for the two days after that we want to stay to do a room only though...

So now I have two packages booked. One on our preferred dates Jan 28-Feb 3, but it's full price and I guess I will keep checking everyday to see if I can find SPD for it. This has turned into quite a mess.

For the Disney Visa offer (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/visa-room-booking/) has anyone gotten the below free ticket day portion to work? The room-discount portion worked great, but not having success getting portion to reflect in the ticket or package pricing. Is there a trick that I am missing?

"Plus, when you upgrade to a room and ticket package that includes a minimum 5-day theme park tickets with the Park Hopper Option or Park Hopper Plus Option, you get one more day added to the ticket day, FREE.*

I’ve tried multiple times to get the visa discount on top of gift of magic, every rep so far has said it can’t combine!

We ended booking SPD at CSR.... don’t think the construction will be to inconvenient

I think we are going to split our stay. I need some help understanding some things. I now have two packages and two days of room only booked so obviously something will have to be dumped.

Our original package is January 28-Feb 3, Sunday through Saturday at Pop Century with the regular dining plan and 6 day park tickets, no hopper, absolutely no discounts on anything. The total for that was $3978.

I found SPD at Pop from Feb 4-8, Sunday through Thursday. We upgraded the dining to the regular dining plan for those 4 days and got 6 day tickets (rather than 4). The total for that is $2882. We still want to stay for 2 more days and I found Feb 8-10 at the Wilderness Lodge with the Visa Discount for $234/night. So I booked that as a room only. Total for that after tax was $526 for a grand total of $3408.

So situation 2 saves us nearly $600, though we will have to pay for food OOP for the last 3 days, so in the end it might end up being pretty close to the same cost.

Questions
1. Our dining plan is for the days that we are at Pop, I understand that. We check out of Pop and check in a WL on Thursday. Do we still have access to whatever is left of our dining plan during the day Thursday or does it expire on Wednesday night at midnight? Also, do we have access to it as soon as we check in on Sunday at Pop?

2. How do we actually, physically transfer from one resort to another? We've never split our stay before. We check out of Pop and then do what with our bags? We obviously still want to spend the day in the parks.

3. The room at WL is a standard room. It mentioned some rooms have bunk beds. That would be PERFECT for us. Is there a way we can make sure we get a room with bunk beds?

Is there anything else I need to know about a split stay? I feel like I had more questions, but I can't remember them now, it's been a LONG day!

Actually I wonder if it just pulls up after you click this link? I had found this in an earlier thread and it was shortly after I clicked on it, I saw it as an option. And it appears to be showing up again for my dates.

Yes! It pulls up with this link! Nothing available for my stay except a couple days in the middle of my stay, but I will save this for when I check daily! Lol! Thank you so much!

Is this a thing they’ve allowed people to do? That was be amazing if it could.

You can't double up.

Its either the visa offer or gift of magic. The visa offer just happens to be the same or similar to gift of magic except for a few resorts that have a better % off hence why people are reporting getting more off when switching to Visa offer. They are misreporting that its an additional discount. Its one or the other.

For example, GOM was 25% off at AKL & YC but Visa was 35% off.

Here are the links for the two separate offers:

So you should definitely keep checking if you didn't find the discount you wanted or if the view you wanted wasn't available! I happened to check tonight and while my Poly Club room wasn't available with the RO offer, I noticed that a cheaper view was now available at rack rate. So I saved over $1000 by switching to garden view. It looks like availability is showing up in the evenings. This is the second time I've had to tweak my reservation and both times the rooms magically appeared after 10pm EST. My travel agent will not be thrilled that we have to complete the paperwork to move the reservation to her again and cancel the other reservation; however that just paid for our airfare.

We have until midnight of the day you check out of Pop to use the remainer of your dining credits. But your refillable mugs are good for 14 days and you will be able to use them at WL and every other resort, too.

Bell services will deliver your bags to the WL. The bags usually don't get to the new resort until after 3pm. You could go to the parks before checking into WL if you want to.

Yes, they have some bunk bed rooms. Just call and have the request added to your reservation. :) There is no guarantee that you will get a bunk bed but it doesn't hurt to ask. :)

So, I like many here didn't get quite what I wanted - so what I ended up with (7 of us traveling, 2A3K + 2A)

2x Room only (1 king, 1 river view) at POR for the first two days of our trip (1/20-1/22) (Still debating on switching to POFQ for these two days, if we can't change our package to include those first two days) (the two families are my family and my parents, they're willing to take on a grandkid if necessary to fit POFQ)
2x Garden view with PSD at POR for the rest of our trip (1/22-1/28)

Never done a "split stay" - we have 8 day tickets attached to our package starting 1/22 - we can start using that on 1/20, right?
Is there any kind of 'deal' to get the mugs a few days early?

We had success with the spring room only offer on our Poly reservation during PHM weekend. After being on hold the day it was released for 60+ minutes, we saved $69 a day.

To my surprise this morning, I received a PIN code email. It actually increased our Poly reservation by $1 a night, go figure. But it saved us $62 a night next door at the GF! So we’re saving $600+ over our original reservation booked at rack rate. I’d rather be at Poly than GF but I’ll take the savings!

I am thrilled with the Disney Visa offer. 35% off at AKl put me around $220 a night...thats even cheaper than the agency exclusive i had booked at beach club. I'm a little worried about transport but with all the money I saved I can spring on Minnie vans a few timez

We have a trip scheduled for January which is paid in full. We had to cancel our September trip (lost free dining and all FP ) so used the funds to pay for January trip. Was hoping for SPD but didn't work out for me so called for the Disney Visa offer. Here is where it gets complicated. The CM gave me one price which was almost $300 less great problem is Visa card was hacked so the one I used for the initial deposit is no longer active. However I also booked a new reservation for this month using the new Visa card. Of course the CM wasn't sure what to do so kept putting me on hold (was on for over 1hr with him). They have the new card on file so supposedly the refund will go to the new card (fingers crossed). When he came back the last time I asked what the refund would be he said over $300 plus and extra $100. I was confused but at this point just let it go. Is there a way I can see on MDE the amount of refund I will be getting? He sent an email with the new price and the old price but it shows a refund of $21.30 ( which was the difference between the Sept and Jan trip). I'm so afraid that my reservation is messed up.

In the past, I had refund going to credit cards that account number changed (hack, lost card, etc...). It ussually process ok as the bank knows what account it is. They ussually will take a credit to your account, just not a charge. I would confirm with your bank on that.

Don't be. In our experience bus service at AKL has been very efficient.
