February at the Fort

We will be there for our first stay the last week of Feb. We will check in on the 24th and stay through March 3rd in our tent. Staying at the Fort has been on our bucket list for some time. It will be me, DH, DD 18 (she turns 19 on the 26th while we are there), and DD's boyfriend. I am very excited. My daughter's boyfriend has only ever been to Disney on a high school band trip about 6 years ago. It was a short trip and he doesn't really remember much. We are excited to show him the ropes. The trip will be a little bittersweet as it will be our first family trip without our son. He is currently in the Navy and is stationed overseas.

Leagirl12, welcome to Camping at the Fort. We also check in on the 24th. We will be at a Premium site. We will try to connect. Thanking your son for his Service to our Country. You will love the Fort. See you in about 32 days. Safe travels. Barb

Your trip seems very similar to ours. Same timeframe, staying in a tent( first time camping at the fort too)and bringing DS GF for a first ever trip. DD24 just decided to fly in from California to join us (DH a marine) it is always fun to show newbies the ropes and have hooked many a kid on Disney only for them to share it with their families later. Maybe we will be camping neighbors

So I'm still waiting on magic bands and we are eleven days and counting to arrival at the Fort. I had called several times to confirm that the bands for the four of us would be held at Outpost. We have been traveling and also just had an address change.

So the MBs were shipped to our old address and are now being forwarded. I'm hoping they will arrive on Wednesday. I guess if we end up with four generic gray bands I can dress them up with some of my nail polish

We will be picking up DDs on Feb 9th late...like 10pm or so depending on their flight arrival. Since DDs will be arriving after a long work day, and their plans are to hit Epcot early on Fri the 10th, I have been instructed to get two bottles of Champaign and a carton of Orange Juice. Mamossa anyone?!!

You have a heated machine shed???? So jealous. Although we did have a heated race shop. It was just an hour away.

Ours came yesterday. Much faster than last September.

Jim, we have infloor radiant heat, so during the winter, maintenance can be done on the chopper, silage trucks, tractors. On the north end, through a walk in door, and obviously huge roll-up doors, we have a “cold storage, where tractor, tmr mixer, and several machinery items are used daily. All other machinery is stored for the winter at an outlying farm. When we doubled that machine shed about six years ago, we put the heat in. Onto great news, we snagged Saturday, February 24, so arriving one day earlier.

That's great! Same day we are arriving. We are flying into Tampa about 3:30pm. It was considerably cheaper than MCO. Per the other forums, it should only add 30 minutes or so on the travel time. 1:15 vs 0:45 from MCO.

I wish we would have had in-floor heat at the shops. Both used propane heaters/furnaces and they went through a lot of propane. We kept them pretty low during the week. Our old shop was 40X40 and poorly insulated. The new shop was 4 times as big, but had pretty good insulation. The entire back wall was an interior wall to the other half of the building where there was a company based office. The new shop was amazingly nice.

We will be at the Fort February 9-14! There are nine of us. Three adults and six children. We were planning on tent camping but I chickened out last minute and rented a camper. We have done this once before and it was so much fun! The weather looks like it is going to be nice, so I hope the older children sleep in tents. Can't wait!!!

Hi all...
now that we are in February I'll add my photos on this thread.
Went to the Disney After Hours last Tuesday. Had a blast even tho it was only about 45 degrees; it was more crowded than last year but still had a very "empty" feeling in the parks.
Had dinner at Skippers Canteen...excellent per usual. Here are pics of what the "library room" part looked like:

Once the sun went down the Castle looked great lit up. From Frontierland (you can see how empty the street was):

Went to the Poly to try Tonga Toast at the Kona Cafe for the first time. Spoiler alert...it was good.

But first the boat ride to the Contemporary to take the monorail to the Poly...early morning, peaceful on the lake, TTC ferry on it's way to work.

At the Kona Cafe:

WARNING! Pood Forn ahead!

Wandered over to MK, rode some rides and waited for the parade:

Keep the February going. We use to be @ the Fort second week of Feb. We will be at the Fort mid Nov. to mid December. Can't wait!!

Teresa and I have at least 1 standing date for Tonga Toast and a Kona coffee French press at the Poly. Our first go around was at the Kona Café but now we indulge ourselves at Captain Cook's. Not near the wait or as crowded early in the morning and it overlooks the Poly pool with the MK off in the distance.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Teresa got a French press and a couple of bags of Kona Blend coffee for Christmas. To say that she was surprised and happy would be an understatement.:cheer2:

DisneyPeach, your pictures of the castle and your food porn pictures are amazing. 22 days for us, and we hope to go to Kona Cafe. We have tickets for DAH on a March 1. Was transportation back to the Fort a “nightmare”?? Keep your report coming. Barb

22 days for us,
22 DAYS! I know. Getting excited.

I never heard of the Tonga Toast before. French toast on steroids? I may have to make a trip over there one morning for breakfast. We've done O'hana for Lilo and Stitch breakfast, but never Kona Cafe.
