Happy New Year!!

2020 Churning Goals

MS 25,000 on 3 CICs (375,000 URs)
MS 25,000 on 2 Golds (200,000 MRs)
MS 15k for a Hilton free night.
MS 50,000 on 2 BBPs (200,000 MRs)

now my reach goals
MS to Delta Platinum Status (this will require $90,000 in Spend and I also need to get approved for a Reserve card)

MS my way to the SW companion pass. Ours expires at the end of the year but I’m hoping to MS $125,000 this year to earn it for 2021.
.......and I’m worried about coming up with 120,000 Marriott points. :faint:

How’s it feel to be a living MS legend around these parts!! 😊 🤣

DH pulled out a couple of old boxes today, one with baseball cards he collected and the other had pictures from our wedding and honeymoon in Australia. It was so nice to reminisce know long we’ll be there again in 8 months! I forgot how adorable those koalas are!

I’m not sure if anyone can answer this. If you book British Airway flight with AA miles when you pay the taxes does the charge appear as AA on credit card. The tax is 128.00 and I want to have it covered by my Aspire airline credit. My aspire is currently enrolled to AA.

Happy new year and new thread!
I Wanted to double check about getting the CSR card with the experts here. I currently have CSP opened 3 years ago. I was thinking of closing it and opening a CSR. How long do I have to wait so that I can cash in on the sign up bonus points for CSR? (I also have CF, Disney, 2 SW Visas, and bonvoy visa, bonvoy Amex, citi AA- in case that makes a difference.)
Thanks in advance!

Pop up #2 on the Aspire.

I'm seriously considering just going for it anyway (minus the SUB, obviously). If I am approved, I will still get Hilton Diamond Status (therefore still be able to charge my TDR tickets to the room for a cost savings) and still get the travel credit to use toward my Southwest tickets to get to and from LAX.

Thoughts on the advisability of such a plan?

You would have to wait 4 years from when the bonus posted on your CSP.....
Also look at the credit limits on your other Chase cards...if they are near 50% or 70k ish of household income reduce them

Happy New Year!

Coming out of the lurking shadows to say hello and thanks to all the advice on here. We are very low level churning, but it’s always great to learn how to make our travel budget stretch more.

DH and I live in the Midwest, have four kids - a college freshman, 16-year-old, 12-year-old and 1-year-old. The last decade we were bit by the Disney bug and do our best to get there as often as possible.

I’ve resolved to be more active on the boards I enjoy following. Perusing the DisBoards is my decompression time. Congrats to all of you for building such a supportive community.

Two questions....

We'll be applying for the first card soon, once our refi closes. I'm still wavering between Chase United ME for DW (with support from me) or the CSP (with Dis support, of course!). With our big WDW trip in a month, we won't be needing any points or miles for quite a while, so there's no rush to earn either one. Any reason to *not* go ahead and reduce P2's CL on the Chase Disney opened a few months ago? It's more than we would use, however, with the trip on it (using the 0% interest option), reducing the CL would increase the utilization %. Did I just answer my own question? 🤔

Also, related to the Chase Disney.... Just paid the balance of our trip Sunday, but it's still showing pending. Maybe it's just the holiday slowdown? Final payment is due tomorrow so it's making me nervous.

I was hoping that by paying it last weekend I'd get it in before the statement closes 1/5 and earn the 2% Disney rewards on the trip in time to get a redemption card at the resort once we arrive. I'd like to be able to use them right away if we can - does that sound doable?

Has anyone picked up a redemption card at WDW? I read that it's possible, and definitely faster than snail mail...

Thanks!

If you don’t need miles for your trip, I’d go CSP. More flexible currency and current offer is highest offered. URs can be used for your trip or if you’re staying On property, charge to your room (anything that you don’t have gift cards for) and pay with CSR for 2x points, and work on MSR while you’re at it.

I don’t have United cards, but you should definitely check to make sure it’s a highest sign up bonus before pulling the trigger on that.

Yes, I've picked up a redemption card inside Epcot at Guest Relations. Then walked outside and called Chase to transfer my points onto the card and was able to use them right away. They actually gave me an envelop with all the information, T&C's etc.

@havaneselover Did you make it on Hagrid’s? How did your DS do With the wait?
We did. Good thing. I think it’s been down all day today. He did better than I expected but it wasn’t fun:) but the ride was fun and I’m glad we did it. Debating getting up early tomorrow to try to ride it once more but not sure if it will be down again.

Drug DH out to target and walmart today to restock on gift wrap supplies. $30 later and we have 10 rolls of wrap (needed non christmassy but I blame DH for sneaking in 4 rolls of shiny christmas wrap), bows in colors other than red and green, some assorted sizes of boxes (we had lots of shirt boxes and no other sizes), some non christmassy gift bags, and gift tags that I didnt actually need... oops! Oh well, at least I can sleep next holiday season knowing DH isnt going to go buy a $10 roll of gift wrap which has happened in the past 😱 Oh and some candy... kisses are mils favorite and they were $1 a bag at target so grabbed a few.

So glad it worked out! You could always try :) I totally know the feeling as DS was ready to bolt the other day and I had to tell him no he was staying. Patience is not his thing.

@ten6mom no definitely don’t do that unless you have to. You’ll permanently lock yourself out of that cards SUB. How much are you putting on your current Amex? You could also try getting a different Amex and applying for the Aspire during the SUB period of Amex #2 since your Amex spend will be high and it won’t be 2 Hilton cards back to back.
