Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

We're staying for the first time at the Boardwalk in March. I booked a water view room, in my mind thinking it would be looking over the boardwalk. It just dawned on me, could it also mean a pool view? Hoping for Boardwalk view! Thoughts? We've never stayed here before-I'm a GF lover...but I think this will be amazing as well.
While the views and bed configurations are sometimes (bed often) wrong have you checked touring plans room finder to see what it shows?

I read a report that it now closes at 11 p.m. It’s a recent change.
That is strange, because the Swan/Dolphin site I looked at yesterday said it was open 24 hours. This morning, I searched further and found another page that said it's open 6:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. - Disney may have actually gotten it right!

I think that the grill and grab&go have different hours. The grab and go was always 24 hours, but we usually saw the grill close around 10/11 pm. Also, we were told at one time that Picabu has different hours depending on the season.

We have a Standard View room booked at BWI. As far as requests go, are there any standard rooms to request that would be “better” than others in some way?

Being near the lobby would put us closer to busses, but it seems like being at the far end of BWI would put us closer to Epcot, so there’s advantages either way there.

Is there anything worth requesting - or trying to avoid - if we make a request for something with a standard room booked?

Thanks.

Closer to Epcot does no good when it comes to leaving the resort and walking
You have to go to the lobby to get down the stairs.
Closer to Elevator would be my request

You have to exit through the lobby, there's no way out of the building down at the EPCOT end, so if your goal is to have a faster route to EPCOT, getting a room down there will actually make the trek longer. Unless you want to jump from a balcony, which probably also has drawbacks! :duck:

Good to know. I just assumed it’d be like a regular hotel where there’s a staircase or exit at the “ends” of the hallways.

I would assume close to the lobby and close to the elevators the same thing?

I don't know why BWI is set up that way. The YC, for example, has a distal exit toward DHS. If I had to guess, it would be BWI's proximity to the Boardwalk, so I think it's ultimately for the benefit of guests, to keep out the riff-raff :snooty:

So yes, close to the elevators is what you're looking for. We really love the BWI, it's smaller and more quiet than the other resorts. Hope you have a great time.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they made it the way they did. I think it's to protect the facade, so the areas on the Boardwalk itself are free standing, so to speak. There's no spot for a hidden door/staircase or it breaks up the line of the individual businesses on the Boardwalk.

Anyway, close to Elevators is close to lobby. As close as you can get to lobby at least.

I could be wrong, but I don't think water view is equal to a pool view at BWI. If you are on the Inn side, water view would not be a pool view. Others can correct me if I am wrong. On the BWV side, it is pool/garden view or Boardwalk view. Now if you were at YC/BC, water view could = pool.

Can someone please give me an honest review of quick service eating here. We haven't stayed here and are considering it for our next trip. We usually go back and forth between the Polynesian and the Contemporary. To be honest, the quick service situation seems like a major pain. Seems like you all have to want the same type of food or we are splitting up to get what we want to eat. Then is there a place to eat it other than back in our rooms? At least our kids are old enough to send them to get what we want. This all just seems like a hassle. Thanks for your help.

I think we could be more helpful if you would specify what food you want.

I like to go to this kiosk on the Boardwalk for French Fries and eat them on the porch area of the hotel facing the BoardWalk. We've gotten burgers there also.

I've gotten salads from the BoardWalk Bakery.

I eat breakfast in my room, but you can get food at the Belle Vue Lounge inside the hotel.

If you stay at a value resort, it might be faster to get to a food court for a quick service meal, but it would take longer to get to Epcot and DHS. What do you want to devote your time to?

I can’t remember. There is a pool there on that side

We absolutely love BWI for many reasons but their QS is a little different than Poly or CR. There is no devoted QS with seating but there are several options on the Boardwalk with outdoor seating (Boardwalk Bakery, Boardwalk to Go, and the Pizza window). These all have good food choices that you can grab and sit in the outdoor seating areas or take to your room. We also sometimes walk over to the BC resort for their quick service. My kids like to get theirs and head to the room and hang out after a long day at the park. Hope this helps!

So you are making my point. We often all don't want to eat the same thing for lunch. Therefore we would be all over the resort getting food. At least that is how it seems. Then have no where to meet and eat it other than back at the room. Which isn't very convenient.

Also not sure why you mentioned value resorts and travel time. I said we stay at the Polynesian and Contemporary b/c they have easy access to Magic Kingdom (and Epcot). We spend most of our time at Magic Kingdom.

Yes, thank you very much! I'm just not sure we want to deal w/ that. Seems like a pain. I have zero interest in eating outside in the hot summer heat, which is when we go. Then there's all the rain. It would be nice if they at least had one indoor place for when the weather is not so great outside. I do like all of the choices, just wish there was some inside options.

Well I’m sorry that in my attempt to provide information to answer your question, I didn’t pay attention to where you have stayed in the past. However, I am confused about you saying that you would be all over the resort. I mentioned a kiosk and the BoardWalk Bakery which are very close to each other.

Thank you! This is what I was wanting to know. When looking you can see the options but I have no idea where they are. Seems like they are spread all over the resort. Are all of these options close together or are just these 2?

The Pizza Window, Boardwalk Bakery and the Boardwalk To Go are all right next to each other. You have lots of options. You can eat outside on the Boardwalk overlooking the water or take it upstairs and dine in the Bellvue Lounge. This is very close by too.
