Why do so many cheerleaders and popular girls go into nursing?

That's something I never noticed, but now that I think of it I don't see that in about the dozen or so nurses that I know.

Am I missing something? This seems like a really bizare question to me. Nurses come from all walks of life, so I am just absolutely confused here.

I don't know any RNs who were cheerleaders and I don't know enough PNs to say whether they were cheerleaders or not.

I never thought to ask all my infusion nurses if they were nerdy in school. Where do you get your info on this?

Well I can honestly say that my youngest son who is a med/surg nurse and now ICU float nurse was neither a cheerleader or popular girl in school.

He was the vice president of the art honor society and voted most friendly male his senior high school year or best smile. I can 't remember.

There is lots of diversity in nursing where I live.

Infact, I’ve never met a nurse and thought, I bet you were a popular cheerleader in high school. Lol.

I am a RN and have never been a cheerleader and have worked with many who haven’t been either. I can not think of any of my colleagues ever mentioning their cheerleading days. In high school, I was in band.
